Excellent bakery with breads, cakes, cookies, cheese, ice cream, canoli, dry and frozen food as well. Everything is fresh and pleasant looking on the display things are reasonably priced. Parking wise only like 10 spots all fill up very fast as this is a popular establishment. Very organized take a ticket and be served. 6 pastries items and it's tax free. clean and welcome establishment. You can see the bakery in the back

Delicious!!!!!!! You have to go early enough so you can get some baked goods or else you might be late!

Baklava cheese cake($6)- you cannot go wrong with this cheese cake. It's salty & sweet. Baklava on top is a bonus. A piece of Black Forest Square($3.50)- you won't see big black cheerie in the middle or taste nice liquor soaked cake. But it is fresh and still good for the price. Mini pistachio Baklava($1.53 each)- Pistachio cream on top and pillo pastry is soaked in syrup. It will be nice to see pistachio crumbles but again it's only $1.50 I always get lost at this place. There are too many to choose and they are always busy but all the staff has great smiles.

As old school and familar as I remembered. "As good as yia-yia used to make". No kidding. Bougatsa, diples, galataboureko, kourambiethes, melomakarona, touloumbis, real feta from Greece, gorgeous tinned broad beans (fasoya) from Greece in tomato sauce, and estate olive oils. It is impossible to resist shopping in the little store attached to the bakery offering a wide array of Greek comestibles. Serano is like a comforting hug from a familiar friend. Efharisto (poli) Serano. May you exist for the remainder of my natural life.

I have been meaning to try Serano Bakery for a long time. Fortunately, I had the opportunity this week. This bakery is so delicious. So much variety of delicious pastries. Everything about the bakery is well thought out. Remember to grab a number as soon as you get in, as it gets busy, it is difficult to remember who is first. The ambiance of the store is amazing everything is clean and well lit. Serano's takes pride in presentation and cleanliness. You can see the quality even in the take out box. The staff are patient and kind even with the high volume of people. Much deserved 5 out of 5.

It's all here - trust me. They boxed it up nicely before I could photograph my 3 items.

I was driven past this place a few days earlier and selective perception kicked in, so I thought it said "Serrano." Thus, I thought there was a Spanish bakery or restaurant in the area! As it turns out, it's Serano, with one "r," and not Serrano - the name of the world famous Spanish ham and a common enough Spanish surname. As such, it's a Greek bakery, which makes sense since it's within a few blocks of the Pape subway station in Greektown. After eating and refraining from dessert at the Greek restaurant, I figured I'd have some room for sweets from Serano Bakery. I made room. This is a tough review to write. That's because there are some different variables at play. (I seem to like the word variables.) The store is large and well lit. There is a parking lot out front. However, there is no seating inside in what is both a bakery and a specialty food store. Their having seating could turn it into a coffeehouse and they probably didn't want that. The service differed based on who you interacted with, with it being fine overall. I'm sure your eyes will be bigger than your stomach. That's because the selection at Serano is extensive. The other thing is that color sells, as they say in the advertising world and which Larry Tate probably said to Darrin Stevens a time or two on "Bewitched." What I mean here is that, in the bakery cases, there are a lot of different colors on display in pastries obviously representing different flavors. I settled on three pastries: a regular size triangular piece of baklava, a small chocolate tart, and a small orange mousse tart. I could have kept going! The price was appropriate when I saw what it converted into in American coin on the text message. The pastries were indeed good, but not stellar. I've been to some ethnic bakeries where the pastries were stellar, with the top of the heap being one in Paris in "the 7th" where I only bought one chocolate mousse tart that I remember to this day. But, with so many choices, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that, in picking some others if there in the future, such as a slice of one of their flavored cheesecakes, I might find some other pastries more appetizing. I'm probably at a strong 3 stars at this point. However, for their making custom cakes, for the different breads that they bake and which are part and parcel of a true Southern European experience, and for their being a reliable time tested institution, I will go with 4 stars for Serano Greek bakery.

I lived across the street from this bakery for years, but always passed by to get my Greek baked goods from Danforth. For delivery, we got lemon cheesecake, kokkaki, a caramel Square and a Lemon Square. The ganache on the kokkaki sums up the experience: I should be able to taste predominantly chocolate in the ganache since it's made with chocolate and whipping cream, sometimes with a little bit of confectioners sugar added. This tasted exceedingly sweet and predominantly of sugar, which is not a proper ganache. The caramel bar was not very caramel tasting. The lemon bar was OK but it has synthetic petroleum-based food colouring in the topping, which is completely unnecessary. The whipped cream flourish on the cheesecake had a lot of undesirable stuff in it that made it taste pretty bad. The cheesecake itself was OK but the cinnamon in the graham cracker crust didn't really go with the lemon. Overall, not authentic and clean enough and way too sweet with unwanted ingredients. Not for me.

Our first time at the famous Serano bakery. Really spoiled for choices that we didn't know what to get. We wanted to get everything! We got the one in the picture and we loved it. It reminded us of sweet shops in India and the taste of the dessert was like an Indian sweet too. The place is really clean and they get pretty busy. There is a grocery store with Greek goodies too if you wanted to pick up something. Overall, loved it and will be back soon.

    Nutella slice

Easily the most popular bakery in the area, there always seems to be a line ~20 people long at some point of the day to get into Serano. And for good reason: while I may not like all of their offerings, everything that I've tried so far has been good quality at pretty reasonable prices. My favourties are easily the chocolate cake (moist and chocolatey without being overly heavy) and nutella cake (light and airy, with a good amount of nutella spread around to give it weight). Tip: You can order pickup - that window usually has a much shorter line. Of course, maybe do that at your second visit since you don't want to miss out on seeing (and smelling) all the baked goodness inside.

    Loukoumades
    Naveen R.

Serano bakery is a very popular spot on Pape Ave, evidenced by their socially distanced lines that curve around the block for their wares, especially during holiday season. They do both traditional and international pastries and treats, with a prominent Greek bent well represented. The loukoumades (crispy fried dough balls soaked in syrup) were the best for me. Reminded me slightly of the gulab jamuns I'm used to at Indian places, but in this rendition of a dessert, the dough balls had a very crisp exterior, and the texture of the crunch is what pushed this over the edge for me. Kokakkia (cream puffs) were soft and the donut like exterior was moist. Generous chocolate glaze and a creamy interior. If anything, I just wish there was more filling in the filling to bun ratio. No complaints over the tiramisu. Great flavor of coffee in this pastry which I'm always in the look for with this dessert. Serano bakery seems to be an essential cog in the Pape/Danforth community, and I look forward to sampling more.

    Strawberry shortcake and Tiramisu cake
    Elaine S.

I ordered these two cakes through ubereats. Serano had a great setup where they had s separate window for ubereats pickup. The wait took 15 minutes from ordering to pick up. Each of the cakes were $3.75 and they came in a very lovely package. There wasn't anything spectacular about these cakes. The strawberry shortcake could have had small chunks of strawberries between each of the cream layer. There was only one strawberry on the cake and it was pure cake and cream. The Tiramisu slice was all sponge cake, it's not your traditional cake with lady fingers. There was only a hint of the espresso taste throughout the cake.

One of my favorite bakery in the East End, Serano Bakery makes the best Baklava Pistachio/ Chocolate, Mille-feuille and Baklava Cheesecake! Their prices are also very reasonable and all of their treats are not cloyingly sweet so you don't even feel guilty eating one ... or two.

The pastries and mochi breads are absolutely exquisite! I tried the black sesame mochi bread--light, pillowy, and filled with a delightful little white mochi surprise. The crème brûlée almond tart was incredible too, with its thick, eggy custard and a blueberry-almond center. And the Hitotoki matcha tart? Gorgeous and just perfect. It was my first visit, and I discovered the bakery through their 2nd-anniversary IG post. I bought about $20 worth of treats and got to spin their prize wheel--and I actually won the Grand Prize: a limited-edition gold Nespresso & milk frother kit! I literally jumped for joy. Yet another reason to love this incredible bakery!

It was okay. Tried three items:…read more Matcha Lava Tart - The staff said this had the strongest matcha flavour among their matcha items. But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet.
