I arrange the catering and logistics for a large group of demanding professionals, with about 100 in attendance each month. Yelp doesn't allow me to just revise my previous review, unfortunately. It was long and detailed about all the many things that went wrong with our wedding because of Serendipity breaking all manner of contracted duties. The short version is that desserts were not any that were agreed-to; food was inconsistent and some were in complete violation of my dietary needs, which were agreed to and sampled prior; they sent completely inexperienced people (the one man was obviously petrified of serving food, he was shaking!); didn't provide ice as agreed; but most importantly, left over an hour early with no provocation whatsoever from us. We were otherwise occupied when they decided to leave without cleaning up and guests were still eating! The agreement was clearly that they would stay until 6pm and clean up (the host homeowner was leaving the next day for a week, and I was told that it is standard for the caterer to clean up, mop the floors, etc. This was NOT done). The event manager, Madison, literally waved at us while we were singing for the guests and left! When I texted the event manager, she didn't respond. When I texted the owner, she didn't send them back. In fact, she made up a story that Madison had asked the homeowner if they could leave! No, she TOLD the homeowner. Plus, my husband and I were the clients, not the homeowner, which they all knew. Eventually, she directed me to the Finance Manager, Dan. There was going to be a small refund originally, but out of the blue a week later, he emailed me and graciously refunded us for the event and initiated a 3 way call where the owner and her husband apologized to us. If I was reviewing him, he would get 5 stars. Unfortunately, this was our wedding, and we are in our late 60s. No one should have to clean up after their own wedding when they've hired a professional caterer. We had to ask guests and the homeowner to help. I want to emphasize that we were exceedingly patient with them due to the pandemic, but my supposition is that they over-booked that day for the number of employees they have, and we got the short end of the stick. The best customer service I have ever received, I have so much to say. They literally saved my wedding day. They were the only caterers that sent me a pre-planned menu with a quote after one email verse going into a million questions. It made me stress-free and convenient because I moved to another state. Flew to Colorado and did the tasting while under COVID guidelines. They set up a beautiful table and made it a beautiful experience. The food of course was amazing. We had the Colorado peach chicken, flank steak, and stuffed portabello mushroom. I wish I could have eaten all of them at the wedding. On the day of the wedding, the food was delicious and the staff was professional! I heard good things about the food, a couple of people did tell me they had to send the chicken back to cook a little longer, my chicken was perfect. They even boxed up extra food for us to eat later. Our cake was amazing and gorgeous. Everything tasted amazing although I didn't want to cut into my cake because it was stunning. We had hazelnut chocolate and vanilla almond soak. The floral arrangement was absolutely perfect, it was breathtaking. I still cannot believe how perfect your team made my day and help all the way up to the wedding. ... Amory was my coordinator and was always quick to respond. Super nice and fun to talk to. Raven was my catering captain or should I say, queen! She made everything look so easy and was super organized at all times. After COVID my venue canceled on me 7 weeks to the wedding and these two girls went the extra mile and sent me a list of venues that they worked with in the past, and I ended up picking one of them. We had the most amazing cake from them! It was half chocolate with raspberries and half lemon with curd. Kelley also did an amazing job designing it! It had a drum set with Animal playing behind it, barrels with little shot glasses on them, and all of it set a top a mountain scene. Serendipity catered our wedding reception at the Denver Botanic Gardens and it was an unparalleled experience from Day 1 planning. From the initial menu creation, to the tasting dinner, to the last minute adjustments, the team was responsive to all of our requests and nailed every small detail the day of. All of our guests could not stop complimenting the staff and the amazing food: "that was some of the best food we've ever had at a wedding", "the bartenders at your wedding were so hilariously entertaining". Huge shoutout to Russell who was the team lead for the event who effectively led guests through cocktail hour/dinner service, seamlessly transitioned everyone to the reception area in a 2nd nearby location, and facilitated cake/dessert service throughout the night. This is a reply to Laura Z's comment to our review. I always find it funny when vendors get so defensive in their replies. I'm sorry Serendipity was so shocked by our review, but 3 stars is called "A-OK," which is exactly what this was. There were plenty of really wonderful points to the service we received, but there were enough mix-ups and mishaps to bring the overall score down. One clarification: we actually INCREASED the number of staff at the last minute because as the event got closer, we started to lose confidence that our contracted staffing levels would get the job done in the challenging site. Serendipity was very appreciative that we added a person, and that was why we were so frustrated by the set-up noise during our ceremony. And by the way, the only reason there hasn't been a gratuity is because the groom was assured before the event that he could provide a gratuity at the event as an add-on to the final bill. It was only at the end of the night that we were told that in fact there was no way to do that - the same time that we were told that the person we had been working with the entire time to plan our catering was "no longer with the company." I'm sorry that our first priority in the week after our wedding hasn't been to go out of our way to give Serendipity more money, but we did love the staff and will absolutely follow up to tip - as if that's any of the Yelp community's business. Anyway, totally a three-star experience, but the wedding itself was absolutely a dream, and we appreciate all our vendors in making that possible. read more

I am an event planner from Atlanta, GA and this catering company saved my life!!! I called Serendipity Catering to do a last minute event for a client of mine in Aurora, CO. The staff member who answered the phone was amazing! Little did I know it was the owner! I talked to the owner about the event and he came up with a custom menu for me that was perfect for what I needed at an amazing price. They were patient and kind with me when I made last minute changes. Their customer serivce was excellent, their prices were great, and the food was excellent! My client went out of his way to tell me how much he enjoyed the catering. After the event, I snuck in and ate some of the leftovers- delicious! The only negative thing I have to say about this company is that they are not located in Atlanta, GA where I do most of my events. I work with several catering companies on a monthly basis and this is my favorite-- I would use them all the time if they were in Atlanta! read more

We are thrilled with Serendipity Catering and highly recommend their services! They provided appetizers, a buffet, and desserts for our wedding this past September. From day one the service was outstanding. They were very flexible and extremely responsive (over email and phone) and accommodated every one of our custom requests. During our two walk-thru meetings they were super helpful and offered a lot of tips around the timeline and set-up. On the day of the wedding their servers went above and beyond for our guests and we got a lot of compliments about the staff. The food was AMAZING and we continue to hear about it from our guests. Every item on the buffet was delicious, especially the chicken and beef dishes, which so often get dried out and bland in such a quantity. It felt more like the meals were prepared for a small dinner, not 150 people! They prepared a large variety of vegetables for our vegan and vegetarian guests, and their quinoa stuffed peppers were highly praised. I'm just sad I didn't get a chance to try everything!! During our cocktail hour I tried one of the reuben finger sandwiches (my husband's special request) and it was unbelievably good. The beef in marsala sauce was sublime! Serendipity has an amazing pastry chef who made an assortment of two bite desserts (mini tartes) and I was blown away by how perfect (and beautiful) they were. A+++++++++++++! Catered for Sunday brunch at Cherokee Castle. Food was horrendous. We paid for a buffet brunch, there was minimal food, and I was only 'allowed' ONE piece of bacon. Amazing! Serendipity was so perfect for for my friends 30th birthday dinner! We went with the family style dinner and was extremely impressed! The process was super easy, we ended up picking up the food ourselves to save on the delivery fee and the instructions to reheat were so simple! Finding a good, reasonably priced caterer proved to be one of the toughest parts of planning my wedding. After receiving tons of quotes from various companies, I decided to go with Serendipity. Throughout the planning process, they were professional, quick to respond, and full of helpful ideas for my wedding. We had a morning wedding with a breakfast/brunch buffet reception, and it was wonderful. Serendipity helped me plan an awesome menu, complete with a waffle bar and various delicious toppings, non-alcoholic sangria, rosemary potatoes, tons of fresh fruit, and so on. All of the guests I've talked to so far loved the food. I was all over the place the day of the wedding and didn't get to eat as much as I would have liked, but what I did eat was awesome. They also gave us the option to use "green" plates and silverware and had a little sign printed up telling our guests about what they were eating off of. It was a nice, eco-friendly touch. Laura was at our wedding from start to finish and worked with the other vendors to make sure the whole thing went smoothly. I had very little to worry about the day of. We had to resort to our plan B, since we originally planned to have the ceremony outdoors and it rained that day. Laura made plan B go as smoothly as if it had been the plan all along. The kitchen staff is inexperienced, and clearly does not understand the temperature danger zone as last year half the staff got sick after consuming the food the catering company was serving up. I gave them 5 stars and they deserve every one of them. What really blew me away was their helpfulness. We were under the catering captain, Sonia. Before the event, Sonia had excellent communication with us, worked with our busy schedules and was very agreeable. This was expected, but what really blew me away was her work as the event got closer. We needed to do a final walkthrough of our reception site with ourselves, serendipity, and our venue. There was a miscommunication about the time we were meeting, but when we called Sonia, she agreed to drop everything she was doing that day and rush over to our venue site to do the final walk through. THEN, our florist lived VERY far away from the event and threatened to slap another $50 onto us for having to wait around after taking flowers to the wedding to set up the flowers for the reception. Instead, Sonia and her team agreed to do her job and set up ALL the flowers/centerpieces in addition to the tables and linens. AND THEN (Yes there's more), we needed to rent items from the venue, from serendipity and also from a third party site. All these rentals became very confusing for me and so I simply put Sonia in contact with the rental site and the venue and she personally went through our rental list to make sure everything was in order. Low and behold, there were some changes that need to be made that I would definitely not have noticed myself. Finally, Sonia and her team did a wonderful job at our reception, had all of the food out in a timely fashion, well presented with agreeable personal interactions with the entire team. Now, I'm not sure what other vendors cost (my wife did the research on that), but serendipity to me seemed a bit pricey. BUT in regards to serendipity, you get what you pay for. I really wish there were more stars, because Serendipity honestly deserves 10! I was working with a budget to feed 75 people 4 meals for a 2 day seminar. Serendipity was able to create a menu which met my budget and wow'd the guests. While I was worried about running the seminar, Serendipity set up the buffet, helped serve the food, and cleaned up without needing me at all. What a relief to not have to worry about the catering with everything else on my plate! The food itself was absolutely amazing! The quality of the food, especially for the price is almost unbelievable. One of my guests worked on a cruise ship where of course the food was top-of-the-line. She made sure to pull me aside to compliment the food. "This food is amazing, and you can tell the Chef has a real love for what he does. I can tell he loves what he does by the food he presents" .
