This was my third time coming here, and unfortunately it will be my last. First, I want to say the girl who helped me schedule my appointment was incredibly sweet and helpful. She was the only positive part of my experience. I noticed they now have a different nurse doing the Botox injections, Nicholas Prasad, and I could tell right away that he seemed very inexperienced. I have had Botox multiple times before, so I know what to expect, and this experience was nothing like my previous ones. The injections were surprisingly painful -- much more than they should have been. Botox usually feels like a tiny pinch with little to no discomfort, but this was not the case at all. What made the appointment even worse was how uncomfortable and insulting his comments were. He asked what body mist I was wearing, and when I told him Victoria's Secret Pear Glacé, instead of simply saying thank you or moving on, he told me it smelled like what his mother wore when he was a child. Such an odd and unnecessary thing to say. Then, while injecting between my eyebrows, he said, "Oh my God, your skin is so thick," and even added that I had bent the needle because of it. He continued by saying my skin was strange. I cannot express enough how humiliating and uncomfortable that made me feel. As a 40-year-old woman going in for Botox, I am there to feel more confident and better about myself -- not to be criticized and made self-conscious about my appearance while I am literally lying in the chair. I left feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable, and honestly much worse than when I walked in. I order the same face products every few months and they rarely have anything in stock so they order it and call me when its ready. I contacted clinic based on YELP reviews on appt 11/22/25 for basic facial, boy was I SO DISAPPOINTED! I had to put $50 deposit for appt, I thought that was a little pricey but I went with it based on reviews. Due to my, holiday & estheticians schedules appt was not available till after new year. As my 1st appt approached in the new year I had to reschedule to 2/4 & requested the very latest appt available which was 4:45. Trying to rescheduled was such a hassle & ordeal as a PAYING CLIENT no one would pick up the phone several, several times during the day, no matter what time of day I would call & leave numerous messages (REMEMBER THE BUSINESS HAS $50 DEPOSIT FROM ME ALREADY) On 2/4 about 2 hours before my scheduled appt while I was at a relaxing acupuncture appt which turned out to be not so relaxing after dealing with Serene Aesthetic & Wellness Medspa that the esthetician had a emergency & had to cancel. I was SO livid, I immediately requested to speak to the supervisor & was on hold for several minutes w/ no luck. The receptionist I ask speaking to sounded so timid & somewhat confused. I then hung up the phone & the business called back a few minutes later at that time I was speaking to manager "Dom". I asked him to refund the $50 deposit, due to the emergency cancellation of the esthetician. Absolutely terrible experience at Serenity Spa. I got my lips done here and within days, I noticed they were clearly uneven. I called and was told to come in--only to be brushed off and told that's just how my lips naturally are. They asked me to come back after 30 days for "healing," so I did. At that point, they gave me a completely different excuse, blaming my skin pigmentation instead of taking any responsibility. After TWO visits, all I got were excuses and zero accountability. Now they're telling me I should get Botox to fix what THEY messed up with filler. Are you serious? Do I love my lips? Yes! Was it a pain to actually get my appointment? Also yes. Most professional person I can say is the one who administered my lip filler. I've been into med spa offices & there is a level of professionalism & standard that just makes or breaks your first visit. The first initial appointment wasn't in their system, so I had to return another two days later, they apologized of course, but it was a huge inconvenience as I am located in Roseville ca. I never received the txt reminder either times. Staff can be trained repeatedly on how to interact with patients, I understand it's predominantly Hispanic clients, so the yelling my instructions & loud talking might be a sign of that. The filling seats & quick turn out of customers lets me know their prices aren't beat, but that can affect the atmosphere. ‍ you get what you pay for. I will never return to Serenity Medspa in Modesto. My experience was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. The staff was friendly and welcoming before my service--likely to secure payment--but once the appointment ended, that hospitality vanished. It felt like once they got paid, I was no longer worth their time. After my service, I had some questions about the products used and possible aftercare. Unfortunately, the staff was dismissive and unhelpful. One even rolled their eyes when I asked for clarification a second time. I didn't feel valued or respected at all. For a place that markets itself as a space for relaxation and wellness, they completely missed the mark on basic customer service. Worse, I experienced a reaction to one of the products and tried calling back the same day. No one answered, and my message was never returned. It's like they wash their hands of you the moment you walk out the door. Save your money and go somewhere that actually cares about their clients before and after the service. On April 5, 2025, I contacted Serene Aesthetics & Wellness Med SPA owned by Ivonne Escobar, Joel Rairez MD And Marty Moreno D.C at (209) 523-0647 and scheduled an appointment for a microdermabrasion treatment, priced at $89. At the time of booking, I was required to pay a $50 deposit, which was immediately charged to my account, thereby confirming the appointment. On April 9, 2025, I appeared for the appointment and received the microdermabrasion treatment, along with an additional jelly mask service priced at $30. The total cost of services rendered amounted to $119. However, despite the prior deposit of $50, I was charged the full amount of $119 at checkout. This overcharge was brought to the attention of the staff and management, at which point I was informed that a refund could not be issued because neither the management nor the CPA was present on-site--this, despite it being regular business hours (Wednesday at 3:00 PM). When I further questioned the reasoning and requested appropriate resolution, I was treated in a hostile and degrading manner. I was rudely escorted out of the establishment by a staff member and a manager called DOM, the latter of whom insisted on opening the door to expedite my departure. This experience was not only unprofessional and distressing, but it also undermined the expectation of a relaxing and wellness-oriented environment. In light of these circumstances, I would like the following resolutions: 1. A complete refund of the overcharged amount. 2. A formal apology from the store owner regarding the treatment I received during my visit. 3. An explanation of the circumstances that led to this overcharge and the actions taken against the receptionist who refused to tell me her name and individual named DOM who handled my case poorly. I have officially been Serenitied, but on the bright side, I got an answer to a long awaited question of mine - how does The Rock do the peoples eyebrow? Answer, he gets Botox from Serenity MedSpa. I got 20 units of Botox on my forehead on 11/11/22 and immediately got one frozen eyebrow and one extra arching eyebrow, hence the people's eyebrow reference. It looks crazy and is constantly noticeable since I tend to make facial expressions when talking. After two weeks I DM'd Serenity on IG asking for them to fix it for free and they suggested scheduling a consult which was the wrong response, IMO. Answer should have been absolutely, we will fix it free of charge. A consult to me means additional services at a cost. Where to start... I recently moved to Modesto and was looking to find someone closer to where I live. I had been getting my facials and microdermabrasions for about a year in Manteca. I purchased 2 Groupons, one for Greg Martin Skin and the other for this place. I would have to agree with the other reviews left here on yelp. I wish I would've read the reviews before I made the purchase. It would've saved me from making the mistake of coming here. With the exception of the lady who actually did my treatments, the staff is extremely rude. Customer service is definitely not a priority here. First thing to note, the entrance is towards the back and is locked. There's a sign that says "do not knock or come in unless you call the office" you have to call or hope they see you to be let in. It's not fun waiting if it's cold and rainy outside. A gentleman had called me on a Friday and left a voice message informing me that he was calling to confirm my appointment for that Monday. The message proceeded to say that if I did not call back to confirm my appointment, I'd be taken off the schedule and charged a $50 fee! I thought I must've heard wrong so I immediately call back and the same gentleman answers. I proceeded to ask for clarification, if what I had heard was correct? Did he really just say that not only would he "remove" me from my scheduled appointment but also charge me $50 for simply not calling back to confirm the appointment I had already made?? (NOT IF OR AFTER I MISSED THE ACTUAL APPOINTMENT, BUT FOR NOT CALLING BACK TO CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT) He informed me that yes, it's their policy. I was shocked. I've never heard of such a thing. So I again reiterated "so if I did not happen to check my messages and not called back, I would've gone to my appointment on Monday and you would've taken me off the schedule and then have the nerve to charge me $50???" While I was in the middle of saying this, he said condescendingly "can I talk?" I was so stunned that he was cutting me off in mid sentence and so blatantly annoyed with me for questioning this business tactic,... that I replied "no, you can not" to which he replied, "then you are done" and hung up on me. I was completely shocked and to be honest I had to take about 10 minutes before I called back. When I called back, there was no answer so I left two separate voice messages explaining what had just happened and asking for someone to please call me back because at that point I didn't know if I even had an appointment. I don't get a call back until the Monday morning right before my appointment. When the lady asked if I was coming in for my appointment, I explained to her what had happened and that since I never received a call back, I had assumed that I had no appointment. After telling her about my previous experience with the gentleman, and how rude he was, she seemed unimpressed, and very coldly confirmed that yes, I would've been taken off the schedule and charged $50 for simply not calling back to confirm the appointment. That it's their policy. I can tell it's a moot point to continue to look for any kind of customer service or even the slightest regard to how rudely I had been treated. There was no acknowledgment of his rude behavior, nor to the fact that nobody had returned my calls. I debated on whether or not, I should go in for my last appointment, I really didn't want to at that point. Unfortunately, they had already marked the Groupon voucher as redeemed for all three appointments during my first appointment. So it was already paid for. I reluctantly went for the last treatment. When I was done the front desk lady asked if I wanted to schedule a new appointment. I politely said no thank you. Her response was to tell me that she noticed I had used a Groupon and that I cannot repurchase A Groupon a second time. As if the only reason I wasn't making another appointment was because I was trying to get it, through Groupon cheaper. I wasn't, I already knew that I was never coming back due to their questionable business tactics, and policies that seem to be aimed at extorting money from their customers. I have no problem paying full price. Groupon was just a way to try different places before I settled on one place to get my monthly treatments. GREG MARTIN SKIN is a much better choice. The difference is night and day in every way possible. The treatment was way more thorough.. I actually left with a noticeable difference in my skin. The staff at Greg Martin is unbelievably professional and welcoming. They actually give you a consultation and use Groupon as a way to get new customers with the goal to retain them. First, their customer service is non existent. They are so rude and don't take responsibility for their mistakes. Second, I went in for lip filler, asked for half a syringe and something super natural and she injected the FULL amount of filler into my top lip. After 30 days my face was botched. They injected way too much filler in my face and basically told me that sucks. They did not make any attempts to fix their mistake. My reviews are very mixed. Once there, the clinicians to a great job, but dealing with them when there is an issue is absolutely a nightmare. My Examples: 1. On one occassion, I was running late from another appointment and tried to reach them at least an hour before my scheduled appointment, but was unable to reach them (they rarely answer), plus the voice mail left no way to leave a message and said they were on Spring break and closed, which it was no where near that time, so they had a glitch in their phone system. When I showed up about 15 minutes late, the nurse had left, PLUS, they insisted on charging me the no-show fee. They don't listen to reason and just say it's our policy... even when their phones had the problem. 2. I purchased product online with one of their specials, but I used the wrong card... yes, this was my fault, but any other business in the world would reverse the charges and allow you to repurchase with the card you'd prefer to use. Again, they don't budge or listen to reason, even when I was explaining that I would have auto-pay bills that come from that card that wouldn't clear now. NOPE, their policy is they don't do refunds, even though it wasn't a refund, just a change in payment method. I understand policies, but sometimes there are exceptions that any business would make under certain circumstances and they just become rude about it and won't budge. read more
