Serene has provided dedicated care to multiple loved ones of mine. They have a dedicated team of field and office staff.

This is the agency we use for my grandmother who has dementia. She is supposed to have 24/7 care but that rarely happens. Our family members are often scrambling to try and cover and be with her because the agency refuses to pay overtime when they are short-staffed. Almost every other day there is an issue with staffing for my grandmother. Today, my mother had to cover for several hours because the aide that was willing to stay for a couple of extra hours was denied the overtime by the agency. So much for 24/7. We have also had several terrible experiences with aids. A couple of weeks ago, an aide left my grandmother alone and not even 2 minutes late she had fallen off the couch and hit her head. Luckily we had cameras and the next aide was there shortly after. read more

Nurses made mistakes on purpose or out of sheer stupidity and put my father in the hospital for months at a time where he deteriorated more and more. If I could give no stars I would. If i could give this agency NO stars I would. My Dad, who had frontal lobe dementia among other health issues, came into their care in 2018 after a fall at home and hospital/rehab stint. He had 24/7 live in care. Things were good at the onset, but then rapidly went down hill. The aides that were sent to care for him, well most were atrocious. Constantly had to call patient staffing to complain or to make sure there was coverage, which would always turn into being told lies and scrambling for coverage. I could go on and on, but I won't. The last straw, and which contributed to my Dad's untimely death, was when Serene made the aide leave because it was her week to leave, but Serene could not get coverage so they told us they were calling the police and ambulance to send my Dad to the hospital for a "social visit". Let me tell you, this does not exist. The kicker is that after 2 weeks of the "social visit" my father passed away while in the hospital. The entire time he went for his "social visit" Serene NEVER looked for coverage if he was going to be released from his "social visit". There is so much more to this story, but all I can say is thank God for cameras. read more

I have found that the staff here are truly caring; from the aides, nurses, office staff. They're approach has always been pragmatic and thoughtful. I will say that if you're looking for an agency that's going to make you're troubles disappear, keep looking, and if you find one, let everyone know... but if you are open to working with these people, they are willing to work with you back. When dealing with the hardship of caring for a loved one, that's all I can really hope for... a partnership, so that I know i'm not in this alone. read more

SERENE GETS ZERO STARS!!!!! Any organization that would terminate your 24/7 nursing service agreement one week before it ends, knowing full well that the client has severe COPD and is Vent Dependent gets a ZERO rating. That is what Serene did to my wife. They first called my nurse at 5pm to make sure I was home and then had one of their workers hand deliver a letter to me at 7pm on Friday night (9/21), letting me know that per the contract agreement they have the right to terminate without cause and the letter further stated that as of Monday (9/24) at 7AM I will NOT be receiving care from Serene. This all came about because Serene and my MLTC were no longer going to be working together and my wife's care no longer mattered to Serene. What kind of an organization would do that? read more

Echoing the previous reviewer, you would be wise to look elsewhere to find care for your loved one. According to MANY previous and current employees the HHA's are minimally screened, and background checks for both nurses and aides are rarely done. The mentality there is to just find a live body to send to the house in order to generate revenue. There are a handful of decent nurses/aides there but their longevity is not promising. After being stretched too thin, given nightmare cases, and not receiving their much-touted "benefits package," they usually move on to brighter pastures. read more

The staff at Serene got us thru a very difficult time. The care that was given was rendered was professional, both the Aides and the Nurses were courteous and caring. They were punctual and I was especially thankful for the feedback from the Nurses which they went out of their way to provide to me and my Son. I did indeed feel better when the Nurses were here and felt that their concern was real and they made a bad situation easier for me. read more

I wish there was a rating of NEGATIVE stars! I wouldn't let Serene Home Nursing Agency take care of my house plant!!! ALL of them are incompetent, lazy, falling asleep instead of taking care of the client, most don't speak English, NEVER on time, NO SHOWS from the aides & NO CALLS from the office! They TRULY are the worst agency on the face of this planet & any other planet for that matter! DO NOT use this agency! You will be EXTREMELY sorry! I have absolutely NO CLUE as to how they are still in business & haven't been sued a million times over! Management is a JOKE & they don't care AT ALL about your loved one! Don't let their TV commercial fool you! They are the WORST agency around and they don't care about their patients or their families. I don't know how they stay in business. They call themselves the "agency of choice" on L.I. but that is self proclaimed!! Total B.S. Almost all of the aides they sent did not speak or understand English. Most did not come on time and some did not show up at all! When we called the agency to report we either go no answer or got put on hold for a very long time, and lied to by the coordinators. They are expert at appeasing you and saying they would send a replacement aide, when in reality nobody shows up. Their aides are incompetent and some have fallen asleep on our couch, or were engrossed in watching TV or playing on their cell phones when they were supposed to be keeping a close eye on my mom... a dementia patient and a fall risk!! Please DO NOT use this agency for your loved one or anyone you care about! I wouldn't let them watch my dog! I have had the displeasure of having to deal with them for the better part of a year and they are horrible. The staffing agents, Tyler, Sybil are awful and have no business in healthcare. They leave you on hold don't call to tell you an aide will be late or out sick. Then when you try to speak with their supervisor, they are NEVER available. And Irene,the CEO, all she does is avoid your phone calls and letters to buy herself and her horrible staff time to cover up their mistakes. Do your homework with home health agencies. I wish I did. Absolutely horrendous agency. Would fail to provide an aid on most days. When confronted about it , would state there will be someone there tomorrow and yet no one would show up. They have failed to supply an aid for 8 of the last 10 days. Every day is a different excuse as to why someone is not here. I would give this agency 0 stars if I could. I do not recommend using them. I cant say enough about Serene Home Nursing Agency, the nurses are amazing, from transfering from another agency to Serene, the experience was smooth. Colleen met with us told us how the transition would take place, talked to my assiged staff members Kristi and Liz told them my concerns and they actually listened. There were problems from this agency from the very start. They sent aides that did not speak English and could not communicate or understand my mom's care plan. Some of their aides came late or did not show up at all, and staff was hard to reach to find out why. The staff also made promises to send aides on certain days and they never showed up! Erratic and disrespectful staff, to the patient and to the family. They are expert at patronizing and appeasing you to believe they really care and are going to send help, when in reality, they are disorganized and poorly staffed. I wonder if they do background checks on the aides. Some of mom's aides played on their smart phones all day, even when reprimanded not to by both myself and the agency! Some of them even fell asleep on our couch, when they are supposed to watch mom constantly as she is a dementia patient and a fall risk. I just don't know how they stay in business. Even after numerous complaints, they still did not accommodate my mom properly, so needless to say, after a few weeks we switched agencies. I cannot recommend them, and in fact, I would exhort you to stay away!! Maybe that is why they have a perpetual ad in the Pennysaver, always looking for aides. read more

I echo the absolutely horrendous agency. They fail to provide competent and adequate aide's. There is no follow-up, I've called the agency on many occasions to get answers when the scheduled aide was supposed to be there and would get, "we put it out on a broadcast", well it's still out on broadcast, the last aide we have just decided to leave with no explanation and when I called the agency, they were "NOT" aware and had asked the aide to "finish the assignment". They were aware for more than a week that we were not happy and needed someone else. Obviously stating they would need to be competent, responsible (show up to work), not a lot to ask for when considering it is their job. When I called the agency to communicate that the aide just LEFT, they said, I will write her up...I know if I did that at ny job, I would not have a job, but write her up? Where is the coverage? The accountability? The responsibility to the client? I don't think we asked for much, just common sense things, like make a meal? Seems simple enough but if my dad could do that for himself, then an agency HHA would not be necessary, now would it? I simply asked, what is it going to take? How come the only answer that I get is, we put it out on broadcast, WTH does that mean? Is it in the imaginary space of nothing I can do? This is beyond ridiculous when we have full-time jobs and responsibilities. The other famous line is, someone there tomorrow and yet no one would show up we've had to call out sick and FMLA in order to keep our jobs but yet these people have no accountability? Their mission statement, JUST WORDS. It may look pretty on paper but in reality, this agency is horrible, there staff get annoyed because we constantly call to follow-up, what do they think, we CARE, we are CONCERNED, maybe others may not be. BUT we are. They have failed to supply an aide for many consecutive days, the last sprint was 2 wks. Every day with a different excuse as to why someone is not there yet, and they are on their way. I would give this agency -0 stars if I could, but that option is NOT available. I would say RUN the other way, don't do it, if not you will end up here, writing your own story mirroring mine right now.
