My friends Ella and Abby recommended this beautiful nail place about 4 years ago and rest is history. I have been coming here consistently for past 4 years now and always feel somehow satisfied with their overall service every single time. Everybody is super nice and accommodating. I was not happy with the end result. The environment was comfortable, but ultimately I go to a nail salon to leave with pretty nails. I certainly did not get that. I went in with long nails and asked for them to be trimmed. She not only butchered them but didn't even cut them straight. ...And the polish was applied poorly as well. read more

This was my first time at Serene and it was a great experience! The salon was clean, I was able to walk in without an appointment and get my nails done right away, and one of the girls even went out of her way to help me pick out a color to match my dress perfectly. The price for a polish change on my toenails was a little more than I'm used to, but she went above and beyond what I'm used to. The service was definitely worth the few extra dollars. I had such a good experience at Serene Nail salon that I felt compelled to write a review. The salon is beautiful and well kept and clean. My technician Ari was very detailed oriented and made my nails look phenomenal. She took her time on both my manicure and pedicure and made sure the color was applied evenly which makes such a difference in the way your nails look. Salon was extremely clean and in good condition. The massage chairs for the pedicure was great and the pedicure was really well done. I'll be honest, I don't love this place. I've been here a few times since I work in highland park and periodically need a quick no chip manicure on my lunch break. They are quick, and the place is clean, but they don't have a large selection of no chip colors. The few times I've come, my no chip didn't last long & the paint was uneven. Maggie did my nails on lunch today, and while she was thorough, I have small bubbles and marks in my paint. The edges near my cuticles aren't clean, and I just don't feel like they look neat up close. My friend felt the same way about her mani too. Also jealous that she got a neck massage and I wasn't even asked. Not saying I wouldn't come back, since the location is convenient when I'm in HP, but I've had much better service and prices in the city. read more

I love this place! I live in Chicago and I make the journey up to highland park to go to this nail salon. I was in the area one day and had 2 hours to kill. I walked in and was able to get a manicure right away. Manicure is $15, and includes a neck/shoulder massage. Seriously clean, they opened up the tools fresh for my manicure. One of my other favorite places is Bien Assorti in Glencoe. This place is even better and a fraction of the cost. I have gone back 4 more times, great service every time. Mani/pedi is $40. read more

I went here for a pedicure and I will not be returning. I try not to hover over technicians doing their work because I don't want to seem overbearing, so I was on my phone reading when she cut my toe nails so short that there was basically NO length left to cut and she didn't even ask if I wanted them cut in the first place! Her tools also were really dull so when she cut my cuticles she was pulling on them so that hurt. At some point I had to tell the technician to ease up on pressure because she was holding my toe so hard that her nail was digging into my skin and it was painful. She also filed my nails super weird so some are square, some are round, and worst of all on my pinky nail (both of them) she did BOTH shapes. Like one corner of the nail is square and the other corner is round. Because she was so rough, I was expecting the massage portion to be better because I don't mind hard pressure, but the massage lasted a whopping 10 seconds per leg.... Definitely nothing SERENE about this pedicure... I was pretty stressed the entire time. read more

Kind of a joke. I asked for a parafin treatment and when they finally understood what I asked for, they brought over two plastic bags each filled with the hot wax. This made it very hard to coat my hands. The technician said I could dip them directly in the wax so we went over to the container which was so hot because there was almost no wax in it. I would have burnt my hands if I had dipped them in. Finally, she took a plactic cup and poured the wax over my hands. Pretty silly place but nice massage while I was sitting with the wax on my hands. read more

I booked my appointment online via their Facebook page which is super helpful as I was seated right away when I arrived. I got the spa mani/pedi which was very relaxing (hot stone massage, scrub and polish, etc). I paid extra for a neck and arm massage while I got the mani and it was well worth it.
