After more than two years as part of the St. Genevieve Little Angels community, what has impressed us most is that the level of care has never changed. Our children have always been genuinely loved, known, and cared for by the teachers and staff. One moment that has always stayed with me was when my daughter became sick at school and threw up. Her teachers immediately comforted her, helped clean her up, and called me right away. Even now, she still remembers how kind and caring they were during what could have been a scary experience for her. Another thing that has meant so much to our family is the communication. If one of my children is absent and I forget to notify the school, they don't simply mark them absent they reach out to check that everything is okay and let us know they'll be keeping our family in their prayers. They also pay attention to the little things. There have been times they've let me know one of my children wasn't eating well that day, something that was always a big concern of mine as a parent. Knowing they notice those details and take the time to communicate them gives me incredible peace of mind. Both of my children started school speaking only Spanish. Since attending St. Genevieve, they have learned English, grown tremendously academically, and developed in their Catholic faith. Watching that transformation has been such a blessing. Like any child, there have been moments where challenges came up. What stood out to me was that the teachers never ignored them. They communicated with us, involved us in finding solutions, and were genuinely invested in helping our children succeed. It has always felt like a partnership between our family and the school. Both of our boys had speech delays, and during summer camp they did very well. Unfortunately, once the regular school year started, our experience went downhill. We were told it was normal for preschoolers to get sick every couple of weeks, but the illnesses became frequent enough that I repeatedly had to leave work early or even call out. It began affecting my job. Our younger son, who had just turned 3, was involved in a few behavioral incidents. We were repeatedly told he might be autistic. Wanting to make sure we addressed any concerns, we had him evaluated by both his pediatrician and a psychologist. Both concluded he was developing normally. His pediatrician even wrote a letter to the school stating he was not autistic and had no diagnosed developmental or mental disorder. One incident involved another child sitting in my son's assigned chair and refusing to move. According to what we were told, the teachers did not resolve the situation, my son tried to remove the child himself, was pushed, and then bit the other child. Another incident happened during a sharing activity. My son shared his toy, but another child kept both toys. When the teachers didn't intervene, my son became frustrated and hit the other child. After these incidents, the school told us they believed he had ADHD and gave us pamphlets for clinics that evaluate children under 5 for developmental disorders. We chose not to pursue that recommendation because his medical evaluations had already found no such concerns, and we decided to withdraw him from the school. Our older son was generally doing well aside from his speech delay, but he also seemed to get sick frequently. On what turned out to be his final day, I informed the director that we had decided to withdraw him. About three hours after drop-off, I received a call that he was vomiting. I left work to pick him up. I was first told he must have eaten something bad at breakfast, but our family had all eaten the same meal and no one else became sick. Then I was told he may have already been sick before arriving, but he had been acting completely normal when I dropped him off. What upset me most was that, while it was raining heavily, he was being brought outside without a jacket until I went back to my car and got him one. The most important part of this review is what happened after we left. Both of our boys transferred to another preschool, continued speech therapy, and have had a completely different experience. They have thrived. There have been no behavioral concerns, no repeated suggestions of developmental disorders, and no recurring issues like we experienced before. Recently, we drove past Saint Genevieve, and without any prompting, my now 5-year-old said, "I don't like that school. They're mean." My now 6-year-old remembered the rainy day I picked him up because he was sick and said he remembered being given food by a teacher before he got sick. I can't say whether that caused his illness, but hearing those memories from both of my children years later reinforced that leaving the school was the right decision for our family. Every child and every family will have a different experience. This was ours, and I hope it helps other parents make an informed decision. One other thing that stood out to me throughout our time there was the communication during meetings. Whenever we met with the director and teachers together, I noticed the teachers frequently interrupted or talked over the director while concerns were being discussed. As a parent, it gave me the impression that communication and professionalism among the staff weren't as strong as I would have expected.

The staff, the admin, the socio and emotional skills our kids are learning here is unmatched to any other program in the valley. They do snack time everyday, and when the kids are a little older (3-5) they teach them how to serve themselves water, and snack. From the beginning they teach the kids how to politely ask for more, be patient while waiting, and to thank the parents who bring in snack. It's a wonderful, nurturing environment that I would recommend 10 times over. And if you have a little one not quite ready for school (age wise) look at their hand and hand program for caregivers and little ones!

Here, they help children to learn, communicate, understand, and emotionally grow. Now for the cons. They have cancelled quite a bit because the lack of teachers. This week they cancelled a week because their teachers got sick. Which leads me to why I pulled my kid out of the school. When a week was cancelled, which is a huge inconvenience to working parents, I had a convo with Michele who is the director there. I suggested that they get back up teachers so that they can provide the services we pay for. There was no raising of voices or foul language. She disagreed saying that the environment wasnt safe and insinuated that I was putting my son in danger. She was dismissive and didnt care that she was making parents pay for extra care and didnt even offer anything or apologize. So i cut the convo off saying it wasnt productive and that our son was changing school next month anyways. She then emailed me and my wife informing that i was rude and that she would be kicking my son out of their school unless I wrote an apology. What a power trip. So we pulled him out because i didnt feel safe sending my kid to a place where the person in charge has this mindset.

The school goes all out to teach their monthly theme and it is so much fun for the children and also very educational. For example they'll teach Korean culture through traditional Korean dance, making dduk, and wearing hanboks! Or our favorite was the Last Supper and taking communion with Jesus leading up to Easter. The school provides hot lunches which my kids love and they take great care in keeping the facility clean.
