Found this company on yelp and thrilled to find out that it belongs to the son of a family who's family owns and operates a fantastic little restraint called Seasons Harvest in Cypress! If you haven't been there, you are missing out on a lovely little peaceful eatery that feels like you are our in the country slowing down and enjoying life. Anyways, I was able to drop off the knives, eat a fantastic GLUTEN FREE lunch and go about my way. Was called the next day to let me know they were done, and I could come pick up at my leisure. Came back a few days later, stopped to eat breakfast and my knives were wrapped and waiting for me. Got home, unwrapped, cleaned and tried them out. They were perfect! Can't believe I waited so long to get these done. I also have a pizza cutter sharpened, who knew you could have this done? Yeah I know those aren't really expensive, but it's still cheaper to have them sharpened than to buy new. And I'm being a good steward but taking care of what I have and not adding to more junk. He even gave helpful advice on restaining, painting and hardware and offered any help that he could provide. He seemed to go above and beyond even though he wasn't finishing the cabinets for us. We also brought in a huge tv cabinet several years ago and had it darkened from a really light pine to a dark cherry and it still looks amazing! I brought in a piece of the furniture that we wanted to match and he hit the nail on the head! So don't throw out furniture that doesn't match your new items, take it in and see what he can do. We wanted to support a small local business instead of sending our equipment to a larger establishment. The people seemed helpful over the phone, but half way through, events became questionable as more money was asked and tasks were taking much longer than estimated. It is hard to say if Tommy was trying to insult me, or just not good at communicating. My perception is that if you make less than $500,000 /yr, this is not the company for you. I just bought my first home. It is a fixer upper, in a blue collar neighborhood, and I am quite a conservative saver. Enough about me, and more about my experience: Tommy walked in, and was very pleasant. However, when we got to the actual measurements, he started drawing up these elaborate plans of changing the kitchen, and never really talked about just replacing the counter tops. More importantly, never asked me what I was interested in doing. Proceeded to answer his phone from the office and talk about the left over pieces from doing Kate Spade's store floors, on speaker phone. At this point, I was ready for him to finish and leave, because I was very well put in "my place" of out of this league. When I asked about slate (hey, I'm cheap!) he avoided talking about slate at all by saying "You wouldn't buy a KIA if you were planning to drive around a lot... white marble is what is really in right now." UUUUHHHH, did he not just park next to MY KIA in the driveway when he got here?!! All in all, I had a poor experience, and the quote came back at about 5 to 6 times the price of what others have quoted us. I am sure they do great work for million dollar homes, but I wish that they would have mentioned that's where they do their work on their website.
