I walked in on a normal Saturday and requested a 'dry pedicure.' Instead of immediately turning me away for not knowing what this was, the shop let me educate them and more than exceeded my expectations on the job. A dry pedicure does not require soaking of the toes, which reduces bacterial infections-- this is why I wanted one. I told the manicurist "do it just like you would at home. Basicer than basic." My service-- by the Trouble maker -- was more than fabulous. She was attentive, polite, and inquisitive. We got to talking about my love life and I've never even met this lady. Her attention to detail was very nimble and exact. The vibe was giving 2008 salon which was very nostalgic and nice. As a man, I can be particular about manicure/pedicure because they mean a lot to my overall hygiene, not just beauty. 10/12 I will return and the prices are at or slightly below market which incentivizes tips. read more

I like getting mani/pedis, but I don't get them very often because it can be expensive. I'm going to be in a wedding soon, and I have been browsing places on Yelp in the area. This place has good reviews so I decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted. I chose my nail polish and then proceeded over to one of the pedicure chairs. There were a few other customers in the salon, but it wasn't too busy. Holly did both my mani and pedi. She offered me a drink (not sure if they have alcohol, but they have water and soft drinks), but I declined. She immediately got to work. They have a menu with the different mani/pedi options. I chose the deluxe pedicure (#2). It came with hot wax and lavender scrub. The water was a little hot, so she cooled it down for me. I did have a hard time figuring out how to control the massage remote for the chair, but eventually I found a setting that would work. The chair itself is kind of small. I had a bulky bag with me, so I felt awkward holding it in my lap, but it was fine. While I was getting my pedi, the lady next to me was finishing up hers. She was not satisfied with the shape of the nail or the amount of polish that was used. Lynn the owner sat down and redid it all for her. That's good customer service. This was about 20 minutes before closing time too. The customer was nice about it and said she would come back, but Lynn insisted that she stay and let her fix it. Once Lynn did, the customer was satisfied. I was very impressed with that. I got my mani done in the same chair. I noticed there were gnats flying around, which isn't uncommon in nail salons, but it's still annoying. One even landed on my thumb as Holly was putting on my top coat. Uhhhh really? She pulled it off and of course it left a dent in the polish. Holly was nice enough to redo it. It's only March and the gnats were bad. I'm wondering how bad it will be in the summer months. That's really the only negative thing I have to say about this place. The staff is so friendly and professional. When I went to pay, I received a coupon for 15% off my next visit. I also got a punch card. Five stamps gets you $5 off. The best part was that my mani and deluxe pedi was only $35! I was prepared to spend about $50. I may have to start coming here more often when my finances allow for it. I'm so satisfied and I'm happy to have found this place because of the reviews from my fellow Yelpers! I went to a particular place for a year and got shellac manicures and stopped going there due to getting tired of paying 30.00 for shellac that was supposed to last 2 weeks and only lasted a week. I had very high expectations of this place after reading the reviews, but my experience was just average. I came in for a mani/ pedi, (with shellac) and a nail design on my ring finger. My massage chair did not work nor was I offered a drink, however some clients at another station were offered wine. They were nice and did a great job on my pedicure but rushed my manicure. The nail artist was initially nice but seemed to get upset and spoke very loudly in Vietnamese to her coworkers when I asked her to alter the design to look more like the picture. When I first stuck my feet in the water it felt like ice water . Then My water got too chilly 2 times before I even started my pedi. Kevin did my pedi. He did a great job on cleaning up my feet and toes. However, he did forget the hot towel part. He lotioned my legs up then I think he realized he forgot the hot towels and then wiped off the lotion with the towel... he didnt reapply more lotion or anything. He then painted my toes. I was overall happy with the treatment bc he cleaned up my feet and toes so well. But when I got home I noticed that the paint job was sucky. I went back the next day an he added another coat. I wish I could rate them 3.5 stars. It was good but not the best nor the worst. Just good. They also need to update their Polish selection. It's spring now not winter. Wow, not what i expected! (in a good way). So i don't really live in this area, my bf does. He has been wanting to try to get a couples massage together before school started so i was looking for good, decent, and well priced locations. Man that was hard!! So i stumbled upon serenity nail and spa. THeir site was so detailed and well put together. So I gave them a call. I was looking for a package to do and they have this thing, which is "build your own package." You would select the things you wanted to do and they would give it a 20-30% off the price and boom, that's your package. I did a 1 hour couples massage with basic medi and pedis, with mine being a french mani/pedi. All totalling to be 160$. NOT bad at all!! (compared to other places i saw, couples massages/retreats are like $300+) So I have to admit, when we first pulled up into the parking area/shopping area--we were a bit if-y. Looks can be deceiving! this is where, "don't judge a book by its cover" comes into play. THe location the spa seems a little old and dirty but they are not that. We walked it and we were greeted by the front desk. They were a little busy for a saturday morning. We filled out some paper work that was a questionaire asking the basic, if you have any pain any where, are you taking meds, are you allergic to anything (oils, lotions, etc). They even have a tickelish section you can list. haha. We were taken back to our conjoined room for the swedish massage. we got undressed to our preferred garmet (undies) and got under the sheet. 2 ladies walked in and got us prepared. The massage was great!! We both had so many knots in our back that it was rediculous! we have been under tremedous amounts of stress and they sure got them out. My masseuse was really focusing on my right shoulder that has consistently given by problems. she was really getting in it. She always laid a hot towel on top to relax it. I gotta get one of those hot towel warmers for myself! My bf loved it and was so relaxed that he knocked out and didn't realize it was over. Our masseauses were very nice and made sure we were always comfortable, asking if something was too hot or was too much pressure. I was like, bring on the pressure!! I know i needed it. I felt like a noodle at the end. It was wonderful experience. After getting dressed, our manicurist was waiting. We were also given a bottle of water. I had ken and he was great! I like the fact that he was very meticulous. I can see that he really wanted his work to be perfect and that I was satisfied. I looked over and saw that my bf was enjoying his first mani/pedis. It kind of threw him off when the lady asked what color. (lol). Let's say his nails were super buffed that they were shining sunny bright and silky smooth. Like the previous review, they are meticulous and very nice. They love to chat and make conversations with you. My overall experience was great. I would highly recommend this place. Far from where i really live (med center) but close to my bf so if you live in the pearland area, i do recommend it. The price is reasonable. The staff and service is superb. Best pedicure ever! Everyone at the spa was so sweet, fun to chat with, professional, and meticulous-- not to mention incredibly talented. The artwork my little sisters received on their big toes was amazing-- and I definitely I never thought I'd be saying that about a pedicure. (Sounds a little lame, actually- but it's true!) I've only had a handful of pedicures but these prices seemed very reasonable. $22 for a basic pedicure, $16 for a child under 12, $5 for the nail art -- (which I couldn't resist getting them because I want to be the "cool big sister" after all.) I noticed that they offer waxing, massage, facials, and tinting as well, which if I needed any of those I would definitely return to this place to get. I loved this place the first time I went for one reason...this thin asian lady with a voluminous short bob I can't remember her name. She did a wonderful shellac mani on me. The younger guy Tri who did my pedi didn't use toe separators so got red toenail polish in between my toes... My second time around today and I am Extremely disappointed...actually was pissed off earlier but now I'm over it. I called an made a same day appt at 11:30am. She told me it takes 35 minutes and I had places to be today. Showed up at 11:30am. I just needed a shellac French manicure. I walked out of there 12:55pm...with a hair appt at 1pm in the Heights that I now had to reschedule for my husbands bday tonight. W-T-F?! 85 minutes?!? I'll never get back. $30 I'll never get back...and my beautiful, strong, natural nails look like a POS!! The shaping was all off, she got French white part on the sides, the white wasn't even matte white but translucent white with dull spots on the nails..the tips aren't even...she hurt the crap out of my cuticles when she filed them..she filed my skin in it... Deal breaker: letting my nails soak in a plastic bag filled with acetone? No, no! I'd rather have the laziness cut out and them use foil and cotton balls like normal nail salons. Cutting it the easy way made my hands smell, dry, age, and wrinkly...I didn't want all those chemicals on my whole hands soaking for 20 mins... So would I come back? Probably not. I came to serenity based on reviews...huge mistake. Yes it's true they have an area that looks nice and yes they have a bar, however I was not offered a drink or a chance to sit in the super nice cool area. In fact when you walk in it's like stepping back in time or in a clinic. reminds me of when I first started getting me nails done in intermediate...it reminds me of a clinic because it's super white with pops of burgundy chairs..very sterile feeling. Oh the sterilization of tools is running it under sink water...maybe she used soap but I saw the girl take the clippers and go straight to the sink and rinse them...what is that. Maybe it's because I came in after 6:30 and they close and 7:30 which is mainly why I stopped in that my paint job was horrible. I'm big in getting my cuticle cuts...they for sure did not do that in fact im sure by next week I'll need another pedi. My nail lady knew no English what do ever hey I get it not a major issue but you should know enough if I ask a question about my cuticles you can answer. No she had to ask the guy next to her. I'm thinking her not knowing English was why she didn't ask me now short to cut my nails...cause she didn't even cut them...at first had to teller her...I'm are you going to cut them I want them super short... At that point u should if just left...I've never walked out before but I guess there's a first time for everything.Wanted something closer to home but now I know driving is worth it to know what your going to get. After being a regular for 5 years, Serenity has really disappointed me. Yesterday at Serenity, my husband and I were there together. The nail techs who were giving us pedicures were deep in conversation. I guess they assume that they are the only ones who speak more than one language. During the conversation, they made a couple racial slurs. At one point, the owner joined in the conversation, made a derogatory statement and laughed with the techs , then moved on to the next customer. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted with smiles and seated right away. I have horribly short nails and was worried I wouldn't be able to get a full set... But Mae was so sweet and made sure I left with amazing nails. All the girls are very sweet and talkative. They also make it a point to speak English around all their clients, not that it bother me when they don't... I just found it refreshing. This was one of the WORST nail experiences I've ever had in my life. The pedicure: The pedicure tech gave a decent pedicure but didn't remove the remnants of a blister I had on one of my toes. Additionally during the massage she didnt remove her rings so I have scrapes along both of my legs. The paint job ending up being very good, but she was incapable of producing a simple half moon design with dots. The half moon didnt come flush with the cuticle so there was polish between my cuticle and the half moon. The dots she painted were not dry when she painted the clear coat so they ran together. Instead of fixing it she sloppily painted more of the background polish. I requested that she remove the design and just paint the nail a solid color. She did....with a little bit of attitude, but she did it and did a good job. The manicure: I requested an acrylic overlay. The manicurist didn't remove all of the acrylic that was previously on my nail. As evidenced by the bits of black paint under the acryllic. Each of my nails were a diff shape and length. So much so that I finally just asked for the nail file so that I could do it myself. She didn't even out the acrylic on top (which is a sign of a detail oriented tech), but additionally she gashed the acrylic towards the middle of two of my nails so thin that she created a hole between my natural nail and the acrylic overlay. When I pointed this out to the tech, she said she planned to file it down. Ultimately she didn't. When I asked her to fix it again, she offered to just put more acrylic on top. I explained that solution wouldn't work bc the acrylic around it was already dry and would prevent the new acrylic from attaching to the nail. My concern was for nail fungus. Not that my explanations mattered much bc most of the people there didn't speak any English. At this point the woman, whom I assume was the owner became irate. I asked her to stop, and told her Id pay for what I had so far and would just go somewhere else to get my nails done. I went to the front and they advised it would be $25 for my pedicure and $35 for my hands. I stated they should discount it bc they did a bad job and didn't finish. At this point the woman whom I assumed was the owner started shouting "saw it off, saw it off!" At this point I was confused so someone explained they would take off my nails. I said ok and thank u. Unfortunately their actual intention was to argue more. Which we did. After several minutes of her yelling at me and me calmly asking her to bring her voice and her attitude down, I became irate. At this point someone threatened to call the cops. I said ok. Then another guy said they didnt call the cops and for me to just pay for my pedicure and go. I said ok and paid for my pedicure. I went outside and observed a sketchy guy taking pictures of my vehicle. I asked what he was doing, to which he responded "whatever I want." At that point I called the police to make sure he wasn't planning to cause any damage to my vehicle and to ensure they weren't planning to claim that I stole something when the other rep of the company clearly gave me permission to leave. The police did come. They determined that I would have to pay for the service and pursue the failure to provide quality service through small claims. I wont be going to small claims court. However I did want to share my experience. I genuinely never write reviews. However I've never been treated so poorly anywhere. Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen and if ur considering getting any type of acrylic from here I'd go elsewhere. If u have the tech I did there at least a 70% chance ur likely to get nail fungus. read more

I've been a loyal customer here for 7 years. It makes me sad that the original owner sold the store. The new manager is a man and there's mostly men working there. He is extremely creepy and makes it difficult to relax. I was getting a full set and he came and stood over the girl who was doing my nails and watched her for at least 30 minutes.
