Our star here was wonderful. The house is elegant and full of amazing antiques and is all left from the original owner and designer, Robert L Hunker. We were well attended to by the staff of the Peninsula Foundation whose office is on site. Lois made exceptional effort to make us feel welcome and to make us comfortable. I would definately stay here again. It is perfect for a large group, family gathering, or wedding party. The house would comfortably sleep up to 8. No children allowed and the house is not completely ADA accessible

They were scheduled to deliver food between 2-2:30 with my guests arriving at 3pm. When no one showed to deliver food, I called and left two messages, also sending a text message, knowing it was his cell phone. No response, nothing so in a panic I ordered pizza and threw together appetizers and boxed cake. Not only was it embarrassing that my guests had no food, I missed the entire party while I was at the house cooking. Then, employees from Chow Down just show up at 5:30, claiming that was the time they were given to deliver food. We were about to serve dessert so I refused to pay for the food. They called their boss, the one who never called me back, who immediately answered and advised they could leave the dessert I had ordered. I understand that everyone makes mistakes but this was unprofessional and unacceptable. The owner should have immediately called me and said he had the time wrong, and not sent his employees later. He never called to apologize. I worked very hard to make this party special for my parents and I missed the whole thing. Unbelievable that he couldn't even take a minute to apologize.

We were here most recently for a club Christmas party. The food was good, the beer was cold and the place was looking festive. Parking is ample as well. Consider this venue when looking for a place for your next party, you'll be more than satisfied. The historic mansion has a few larger rooms that can be utilized. It will not house a large event, but smaller parties fit nicely. There is an added on event space to the one side and they will add tents. The back patio was a beautiful backdrop for a cocktail hour. There was a nice stone patio with walkway in the woods perfect for outdoor ceremonies. The food was excellent and presented beautifully. On the downside, parking is a hike and a hilly one at that. For accessibility, you can pull right up in the circular drive fro drop off if needed.

I know some of the other vendors who were staffed at my brides wedding personally and they even said that the coordinator is rude and hard to work with and that's it their least favorite venue to work with. The unprofessionalism of this woman ALONE would lead me to NEVER recommend this venue to another person or family who is looking to host one of the most sacred and special ceremonies of their lives. My biggest disappointment was my entree, Parmesan Crusted Seabass which is one of my all time favorites that I order when I see it on the menu. The plate looked delicious but looks can be deceiving. The Seabass was more breaded than Parmesan crusted. Usually When I order this it is Seabass topped with shredded Parmesan cheese and baked, this was not that! Then the sauce that covered the spinach and potatoes and lobster pieces had red chili flakes added(which is not noted on the menu) which added "heat" to the dish that I was not expecting nor was I able to eat. For $55 I was very disappointed. No, I didn't mention this at the time as we were dining with family and I didn't want to disrupt the dinner by sending it back. Such a simple thing to note on the menu description! The short rib was the best entree of the table, nice portion and delicious sauce. The filet was tiny, maybe 4 oz. Definitely not anywhere near 8 in as stated on the menu and it was hard to find with all of the broccoli on the plate. We will be visiting family here again but definitely won't be back here. On another note, the music they were playing would be more suitable to a dance club than a venue such as this.
