You are our last guest to arrive and I will get you all checked in. It felt like we were in a different time almost, it was so cozy and quaint. Our hotel room itself was perfect. We had two beds and they were so comfortable and the linens were fabulous. The wall hangings and paintings were gorgeous. The bathroom was adorable and had pretty New Mexican tile. Even the carpets and rugs were beautiful. They do have a restaurant and room service. They have a complementary breakfast cooked to order which is something I have never seen before. Unfortunately we were so tired the next day we missed the breakfast, but we will definitely book another stay in this hotel. The reception area is beautiful and has lovely couches and sitting areas. The paperwork in the rooms is extremely thorough and will tell you everything you need to know, from room service to if you have difficulty parking your car to nearby restaurants and sightseeing. I did not read all of the paperwork when I first got to the hotel and in the morning I called for coffee to be delivered to my room. I later saw that coffee is actually set out for guests in the reception area so the woman who brought me the coffee really only did it out of kindness. I definitely felt like this hotel gives five star service.

One star because your only as good as your word. No one took accountability for their actions even when they were confronted by their coworker. A "I'm sorry" and "let me see how we can fix this" goes along way.

They were instantly responsive to every request and it was clear that the staff is fully committed to the guest experience. The rooms are incredibly unique in this building that is centuries old and uniquely decorated from the owners world travels but keeping with the Santa Fe feel. The included breakfasts were amazing with incredible service. They also have included town car service within 3 miles so almost all of the local restaurants and shopping/art galleries within distance. It was so easy to get dropped off and picked up for meals and shopping which we did many times. While certainly not an inexpensive property, I can truly say that it was worth the value for an unbelievably memorable experience.

When your 90 min is up. They give you a nice notice from the intercom. We went out shortly after and spend some time shopping at the gift store. Several smaller buildings seem to have been added over the (many) years to the main building seen on most photos of the property. - Interior: Like going back 100 years. Things were fixed, of course...especially in public spaces...but you might feel as if you're in a living museum. - Our Room (Witter Byner): Large and rambling. More than enough room for 2 people plus a balcony overlooking the front of the property. Very comfortable. I could live there for a month if we didn't mind going up and down 15 stairs to the main floor. One interesting aspect: The bathroom. It was very nice and fully equipped, but separate from our room and down 5 stairs. That wasn't a problem during the day, but a few nights were an adventure - Breakfast: Unreal. Everything was homemade with great taste. The buffet portion had sliced fruit, granola, juices, pastries and yogurt. The hosts and kitchen staff had 3-5 entrees available each day. I rarely tried those since I filled up on the buffet, but my wife ate one every day and only had good things to say. Service at the community table was gracious and unhurried with lots of interesting conversation. - Amenities: A 1-2 hour Happy Hour every day starting at 430 or 5 PM. Fresh cookies, fruit, tea and jug water were available all day (coffee from 630-10 AM). Umbrellas. Plenty of smiles. - Hosts: Everyone was very friendly, helpful, informative and even charming. Most of what we were served was delicious. For an extra $45 per person, you'll be given whatever the kitchen feels like making that morning... no choices, no allergy considerations, and not even a glass of water. Instead, you're handed an herbal infusion and expected to sip with gratitude while waiting 90 minutes for your dessert tart. Room was on the second floor, the lobby level and was quiet. The closet was in the bathroom. But the sliding door was not properly secured and made a lot of noise. Not a big deal. The mini fridge was a bit odd (it doesn't open on the right side, but close to the hinged side... if this makes sense). Awkward to use. We were three people checked in for three nights. The room came with two bath towels. The shower gel was empty. The tissues are running out. Called front desk and someone came in timely to give a newly filled bottle of shower gel and some additional bath towels. We put up the privacy signs. Their trash bin was very slim.... With kids in the place, it was constantly knock over and doesn't hold much. I know we were meant to order room service. But the tissue ran out on day 2. the bin was mostly full with the tissue box disposed. Though only on 2nd floor, our room was quiet. I used the gym for Friday morning workout. Dumbbells were great. There were quite a few people on Friday morning for both cardio and weight training. The outdoor pool seems nice but it was cold and outdoor fireplace needs to be lite to be warm enough to use. I had the most problem with their restaurant. See separate reviews. I appreciate the parking here on site in the plaza. It does come with $31 per day price tag. Overall, I felt thar housekeeping to prepare the room was rushed (zero shower gel when we checked in, tissue ran out on day 2, toilet paper ran out on day 3). We barely used much of the tissues either. But we are grateful to have a room ready around noon. This is a hotel accommodating folks from different time zones. Their breakfast ends at 10am while it is 9am PST. Restaurant here was a bit frustrating for us (ie Lunch hour ends at 2pm but no lunch was served at 1:05pm). Other than some minor issues, we were happy here overall.

During our most recent stay, our vehicle was one of at least three that were broken into with many very large/heavy items stolen overnight while parked in the hotel's paid parking lot. The lack of security measures, whether cameras, patrols, or staff presence, was disappointing and left us feeling unsupported after the incident. What was even more frustrating was management's response. When the answer to multiple vehicle break-ins is as we were told by the GM - there's nothing we can do and that cameras don't deter theft or help identify thieves - it's time for us to stay somewhere else. We understand that crime can happen anywhere, but guests paying for parking should reasonably expect the property to take security seriously and make an effort to protect them. What makes this especially difficult is that we've always loved this property. The hotel has a historic charm, a great location that makes it easy to explore Santa Fe on foot, and while the rooms aren't luxury accommodations, they always felt comfortable and familiar - like a home away from home. Through the years, the staff has consistently been friendly and welcoming. That's what makes this review so disappointing to write. What was once a 5-star experience for our family has dropped to about a 3-star experience because we no longer feel confident that our vehicle and belongings are safe while staying here.
