I sent my mom to The Granite Shop because I trusted their integrity. I'm happy to update my review when the job promised and paid for.

We chose The Granite Shop because we trusted a job well done from start to finish. This has not been the case and we own some of the responsibility because we are unfamiliar with the process. The other misunderstandings occurred due to unclear communication (or understanding) from the man working the floor at the shop. He convinced us not to use our contractor to install the sink and faucet because he said their guys like to take care of the install. Great, we thought, leave it to the professionals. Now this is our lack of knowledge, because we understood that to mean we would have a sink and faucet that you turn on when the job is done. In fairness, the small print on the contract that followed later noted in small print that a plumber must be hired to complete the install. My mom is older and was operating on the information we received in the shop. Perhaps a call the day before the install to confirm that the plumber was lined up would be a nice touch. Also taking time, particularly during the fabrication visit to note each detail using a checklist, particularly with customers who are new to the process would ensure that major misunderstandings like ours don't transpire. I think The Granite Shop has a nice selection and is a great fit if you do your homework and make sure that you ask questions and clarify along the way. Perhaps dealing directly with the owner and installers is also a good idea.

Finished island, this puppy was 126" with no seams!

The granite is gorgeous, and the staff - Emmerson and Luis - stayed in close contact the entire time.

Working with Nia at Gerhard's was a nightmare. She did not respond to my emails, request updates,…read moreor provide any updates. On several occasions, portions of our orders were waiting in the warehouse, and if I had not followed up on them, we would never have known. At first, we were told that the wait time for our order was six weeks, and after two months, she told us that we needed to wait six months. She expected my clients to wait 6 months for a kitchen faucet!!! We went on Amazon and purchased a similar faucet from Kohler at a lower price, which was delivered within a few days. It was a total waste of time and unprofessional behavior on her end. She definitely has much to learn about customer service. As a general contractor and a realtor, I'd never use or suggest the company to my clients.

My son came over and used channel locks and got the water shut off without any difficulty. The installers told me for $240 they could replace the shut off valve. the store reimbursed me the installation fee and is now recharging me to have it installed but now I am nine days out from when I was supposed to get it installed. They have not compensated me at all. The salesman told me I would get $850 in rebates, and I am not eligible for that amount and rebates , so that was false information also.

We love the look, the high quality and the installation throughout our new home. We are very pleased with the polished look and the excellent value the granite has added our home. I haven't had granite before and so I called and was given a friendly, well explained crash course on how to care for granite by their sales rep, I believe her name was Brittany. She was wonderful.

I appreciated that they were part of NARI and MABA associations so knew I would receive the highest quality craftsmanship. Only to find out they are not members of either! Left NARI membership in 2017 & only members of MABA for 1 year in 2015. Clearly to use logo and claim falsely. Initially I had a hard time getting a hold of them for details & pricing but with my persistence I was able to get some measurements & granite installation dates scheduled. All the details and documents to be signed were with poor communication and me being the follow up person. I'm not sure if this is standard or they truly don't need my business. With no prior discussions nor really much communication I revive a call the morning of - guys are heading out soon, any questions? Guys come, I was told they would arrive @ 9 am, I had a 9:20 appointment they arrived at 9:20. I was asked if I wanted a dishwasher air gap? I was told only Madison requires it. I don't love the look of it so was leaning towards no but said I would like to discuss it with my husband and get back to him. Glad I did, ITS CODE! Yes indeed I want a dishwasher air vent. Last thing I want is to sell our home and than have to put one in... I return from my appointment to see a slit in the sink area. So I questioned the cut in that spot. I was told it was standard and every household gets it, very common. I probably wouldn't have noticed it but the cut was jagged, like the blade was dull and nicked the stone. The lines don't connect and the filler is extremely obvious.( thick) I was pointed out that I had no choice. I again said I wish this was discussed. Where the faucet goes it would be mostly covered. The window above this area shines over it. IF this was discussed prior that a cut would be made in that spot I would have chosen a farm house sink so you couldn't see it. Again, poor communication. The guys decide to call the manager. He comes in and also confirms this is common but also tells me he told me. Let me reassure you, he did not. I would full note and remember this. My husband I sat outside 99% of his measuring time. The solution was to let the guys smooth the area and see if they can do it better. After almost an hour on this one spot, no. Not to mention a few pieces had to be recut along with the entire 4" backing... job is not even complete yet. The owners come out to our home. They welcomed themselves in with no introduction but immediately waking around complimenting the men's work. Scratching his finger nails into every cut. Words of the owners mouth were this is acceptable. We followed standards and code, "It is what it is" we shared our displeasure over the job and he said we would go to court if we didn't pay. We were going no where. This was rude and completely unprofessional behavior. I'm not sure what we would of ended up with because I had pointed out that the sink that we gave them brand new in the box at some point had glue drips in it ( men accidentally dropped while working) now they were gone but scratches in the Stainless were present. I want to be the one to scratch my sink, not workers when we haven't even used it yet. No one felt they did it but thankfully I had a photo so they agreed to fix it. We were told we would get a call later that day( Friday) Friday is here and gone as is Saturday. Saturday afternoon we get an email stating the sink can't be repaired so a new one was ordered and they will be in touch with the arrival date. Irritating but they did at least replace it. More appropriate if they called with a conversation maybe even an apology. We are without plumbing . Monday now 4 days later I get a call to find out where we purchased the sink. What? I thought they ordered one per the email Saturday? I send them the link, no call or email so I follow up Tuesday to be told that they ordered it and it arrives Saturday. We can come monday. Again, no apologies not even a thank you for the link or patience in this disaster. Saturday? 8 days later than the project started.. It could arrive anytime which ultimately means Monday and than plumbing on Tuesday. 12 days with no running water, that means no washing hands, rinsing anything, no dishwasher & all meals eaten out. Oh, and half a kitchen completed. We will see if this even happens in this time frame?! I also failed to mention the stone has nicks, notches , & glue spots threw out. ( owners said stone is not perfect) If you like the review and think this is the company for you. Please call Wisconsin Granite... be prepared to be amazed!
