I cannot believe I have never written a review for El Chilitos Mexican Restaurant. It's our go-to for Mexican take-out and yes, we order take-out once or twice a month, which in our house translates to "no cooking." What I always order (and I'm boringly consistent) is Two hard shell shredded beef tacos with rice and beans. The tacos always arrive with the perfect amount of meat, crisp lettuce, and a tasty amount of cheese. The shell stays crispy and never turns into a soggy tortilla which is a win! Rice is fluffy and well seasoned. The Beans are creamy, savory, and basically soul-warming! I can never finish the beans the portions are good. The Hubby gets the carne asada burrito, which is so huge it could double as a pillow after a long day. He swears it's delicious and I've "sampled" a bite and yes, the flavor is there, very satisfying. Chips and salsa come complimentary even with to-go orders! It's around $32 for my taco plate and the carne asada burrito is a bit more but you're getting a lot of goodness for your bucks. We always order take-out, and somehow - somehow - the food lands back home still warm. Magic? Maybe! We've never eaten in so I can't speak to the dine-in vibe. Reason being it is a tiny restaurant but it always looks clean and has a sitting area for to-go orders. My only tiny gripe when we call to place an order, there are moments where I'm on hold while the staff seem to have a full-blown conversation. Ten minutes later, they remember I'm on the line. It's not a deal breaker, just a "huh, okay" moment I file under "worth the wait for the fix." Bottom line: Expect satisfaction from El Chilitos. It's my dependable, no-surprises, "I'm craving comfort Mexican food" go-to. Consistent quality, reliable flavors, and a taxi-cab of a burrito. First time here cause I was in the area walked into this tiny little Mexican restaurant was greeted right away. Told to sit wherever we wanted so we did had a ice cold beer and chips and salsa were served. Then we looked over the menu and they had a huge selection I end up getting the chille Verde and the chile Colorado. I asked the girl how good it was. She said it was excellent so I ordered it in boil boy it was delicious. The both meats were so tender and the chili sauce was very flavorful. The beans and rice were really good chips and salsa were really good. Service was excellent. I asked her if El Chilito was a chain cause I seen them before and I guess it kinda is but they only owned the location in Fontana in Ontario so I will be trying to Ontario location next cause I'm closer to that one five star for you El Chilitos read more

I found this little fine restaurant almost by accident - trying to find a quick place for Mexican food. And was really surprised by the Quality of the food and the price being not high. There were booths and tables and friendly staff and nice ambiance, not bright light but sort of a candlelight feeling. I received a basket of chips and really good salsa. There are waiters too. I ordered the super large burrito, with chicken. It was very fresh. Next time I'll get extra guacamole. I only finished less than half the dish so took it home. Twice the waiter came to make sure I was needing anything. Another waiter gave me a sharper knife so I could slice the burrito better. The whole visit was so epic. Not worth it Flautas - ok, but the beans "refried beans" had melted cheese on top that was nicely melted but the actual beans inside were cold. Albondiga soup - Tasted like canned soup but they added extra vegetables to make it look house made - but it tasted nothing like homemade, frozen meatballs, could not eat this - $15.00 for a bowl. Papasito - "steak and Potatoes" - not spicy at all, meat was salty, and cold, potatoes looked like breakfast potatoes - looked as if they mixed leftover potatoes and leftover meat together and served it to us - left more than half on the plate because we could not eat it - again $21.00 down the drain. I came here to pick up some dinner. Ordered their fish tacos, a shrimp burrito, their popular Pica Pica, and a couple of beef tacos. Everything was packed clean and organized. The staff were all very friendly and also noticed they greeted everyone that walked in and out. The restaurant is clean and tables are cozy. Overall, I really enjoyed their food. The fish tacos tasted very good. Since I like flour tortillas, I swapped the traditional corn tortillas with flour ones. The shrimp burrito ($15) tasted very good as well. The shrimp were not dry and tough. And the rice inside wasn't too salty. It was just right. I really enjoyed my overall meal. Will definitely be back. !!! read more

did not prepare breakfast this morning, so I dropped in and ordered a cheese Enchilada with an egg on top. what I love about this place is that they accommodate what you want to order. I prefer my Enchiladas flat like New Mexico style. however, they have wonderful food, so I'm good with whatever I order. The wait staff & cooks or chefs in the back always have my order just right. And even when I order for my co-worker who orders shredded beef taco with cheese only. We, my co worker's, at least 3-4 of us love the Tacos Dorados. Sometimes, I will drop by after a doctor's appointment and have a late lunch or early dinner. it's nice to sit in a booth and relax and eat some of my favorite menu items. Like their chile verde or lengua. The staff does not rush you at all. they let customers sit, order, relax, and have their meals with family, friends, or co-workers. Brought my hubby and parents here today (1/25/22) as we were in the area. This was my 2nd time here and was just as impressed as my initial visit. This is a small, mom and pop restaurant off Sierra Ave within the Vons shopping center. Its very close to Kaiser Hospital and it was actually hospital staff who recommended this restaurant to me last year. It was super, super busy with pick up orders and the restaurant itself was about 40% occupied for a Tuesday afternoon. Staff were welcoming and attentive and answered all our questions. My folks ordered their chicken soup and garlic shrimp. Hubby had their chili rellenos, and I had their carnitas plate. I of course sampled everyones dish and the garlic shrimp was outstanding. Dad had this our first time here and he was glad he ordered it again. The shrimp was outstanding- plump, moist and well seasoned. Mom loved her chicken soup with its rice, shredded chicken, potato and mild flavors. It came with a side of lemon, cilantro, onion and tortillas. Hubby loved the chile relleno and said he would absolutely return here again just for this dish! The carnitas plate was also delicious with a generous serving of crisp and tasty pork. I would order this again too. Sorry- no pictures this time as we devoured our meal! All you pretty much taste is the beans. Wife got the papasito plate, just to let you know it's little spicy for you out there that don't like spicy food or can't eat spicy stuff.
