Love this salon! I go to Karen, and I can't say enough good things about her, or this salon! First of all, let's start with the fact that they almost always have a groupon deal available. That's how I found this place. Two haircuts for $25 - are you serious?! So I started going here on a whim because I had a deal, but let me say now how clean this place is! I am a freak about cleanliness and this place meets my standards. They sanitize the brushes after each customer and wrap them up in plastic wrap, which they unwrap in front of you. None of this pulling a used brush out of a drawer like they do at...well every other salon I've ever been to honestly! (OK all you cynics out there, I guess you could say "How do you know they really sanitize the brushes?" Well I'm going to assume that they do and that they aren't going to such lengths just to fool the public with their fake cleanliness!) When you come in they're very friendly and offer you a drink (usually some sort of infused water or tea) and they take you into the shampoo room, which is like a little mini spa. There's calming music playing, and they give you a nice head massage. Oh I almost forgot - they use all Paul Mitchell products, so you're getting a good wash with a quality product, and your hair smells and feels wonderful afterward. Now that's all nice, but we're here for the hair cut. I've gone to two stylists here and I have never had a bad cut at this place! I've recommended it to several friends and my sister - it's that good! The first time I went, I saw a gentleman who is no longer at this salon (his name was Richie) - he gave me my first of many great Sergio's haircuts! The next time I went, my sister recommended I go to Karen (after she started going to Sergio's at my suggestion) and it was a great recommendation! Karen does a great job! She really listens to what you want done and does just that - none of this "Take off an inch" and they take of 4" nonsense. I always leave with a great cut! Even though my groupon deal is long since used up, my cut is $30 which is really reasonable for a great modern cut in a clean environment! Most places of this caliber can and do charge a lot more! Let me start by saying that due to the start of Covid and a new born(at the time) I have been doing my own hair since then. I am super picky about the tone and color of my hair. Like many, when lightened my hair brings out brassy and warm tones. In the past I have been to salons and paid a lot of money and still went home with brassy blonde hair and also a loss of hope that I would ever get to the blonde I wanted even with multiple visits back. I think I am a pretty smart girl. I have done my research and I feel like I know what's capable for being done... in quarantine I actually achieved what I wanted myself . By the time I did it took a lot of time and money.That said...I wanted to get myself some self care. I found Sergio's salon due to great reviews on the internet and then researched his staff by looking at the related Instagram pages. Here I found Katie. I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve and saw that she could achieve the "Smokey Ashy blonde" tone that my heart desired and decided to take her first apt available. Besides the clean and calming atmosphere, Katie was amazing. She was honest about what could happen, how long it would take and what it would cost. She was super easy going and very comfortable to be around. She clearly knows what she's doing and also has the talent to go along with it. Very impressed with her work and very happy to have the chance to have the blonde I wanted in 1... yes 1 visit. The thing that impressed me most is she knew she could do what I wanted and fit me in within her already scheduled clients to make my hair desires possible... not everyone will do that and I truly appreciate her doing this for me. I am 45 years old and had always dreamed of having a great hairstyle. Unfortunately, every time I ever went for a haircut, it was a total disaster. It got to the point where I just gave up and wore my hair in a ponytail for the last ten years. I was working in the restaurant business anyway so it kind of worked for a while. Since leaving the restaurant business a year and a half ago, I again dreamed of that great hairstyle. I researched a lot of salons but never felt 100% confident with any. One day I got an email for a groupon for Sergio's. I did the research and found only stellar reviews. I purchased the groupon and then had to work up the nerve to make an appointment. I decide to make an appointment before my vacation just in case it was another hair disaster, then I would have time to figure out what to do with it before I returned to work. The groupon specified that you had to book with a "junior-level" stylist. I called and the girl who answered the phone (who was extremely nice, by the way) set me up with Dessa. I brought in some pictures for her to show her what I liked. She looked at them briefly and went to work. She cut about 12 inches off to start, then I knew there was no turning back. She then mixed the colors and highlights and applied them. After the color was done, she cut and styled my hair and OMG! There it was! The great hairstyle I had always dreamed of! She may be a junior level stylist, but she HAS to be one of the best around. She was patient and precise and she totally gave me what I was looking for! I have gotten so many compliments on the cut and the color and I feel like a new person. I highly HIGHLY recommend Sergios and especially Dessa. read more

I have really long hair and went in to get some ombre highlights. However, I came out with a botched job. It looked like my hair was DYED one brassy, lighter brown color (with some subtle lighter tones) from the eyebrows down, therefore looking like I got my hair dyed 5 months ago and my roots were now growing in. I showed many pictures of how I wanted it to look, but it actually ended up looking like one picture I showed her and said, "This is NOT what I want my hair to look like" with a reply from her like so, "Ew I would never do that to your hair!" I was really unhappy with it and asked the stylist the next day to fix it but was told that I was wrong and that it would be at least another $85, even though it was her mistake. BUT: A week later, I called Sergio (like I should have in the first place), and explained the whole situation. He was so helpful in explaining everything and offered to have it fixed free of charge (like it should be). I was set up with Dessa this time, and she was amazing! She really listened to how I wanted it fixed while giving her professional opinion and ended up fixing my roots to be the same color as the rest of the color, while toning out the brassiness. The colors match perfectly, and I couldn't be happier. I'm definitely going to go back to her for root maintenance. I initially would have rated this salon with 1, maybe 2 stars at best because I was so unhappy with my hair/service from just one person, but I can't justify that after receiving great customer service from Sergio, high quality treatment from the rest of the staff, and especially after this amazing job from Dessa. I have been going to Sergio's for 4 years, and I have NOT had a single disappointment. The employees are amazingly wonderful and helpful, the salon is very clean, and everyone seems to be happy working. Sergio himself is a genius when it comes to hair and what you want done. If you want someone that has went beyond the classroom, Sergio is the guy. He has traveled the world, worked with the best in the business, and it translates into his work. I would never venture to try anyone else... You will be listened to and heard, bring a picture of a hairstyle- they'll match it, have concerns, they'll talk you through them. If there was more than 5 stars they'd this salon would win. No snotty attitudes! Make an appointment, this place could be packed on a holiday, always buzzing with people (that's a good thing). I hesitated to write a review, because it would only be a matter of time till people keep finding out and it gets harder to get an appointment, but if this is one of the businesses in Pittsburgh that truly deserves an awesome review, this is the one....this type of customer service and quality is HARD to find! read more

Well, I should have written my review sooner so I could share my wonderful experience at Sergio's. It's been almost 2 years since I found the best hairdresser in the universe, RACHAEL DEKLEVA, at Sergios,. After going to someone else for almost 15 years, and paid an arm and a leg, I decided to be adventurous and pay less. So I looked on Yelp, and read the great reviews, and decieded to give it a go. Believe me, I'm not good with change, especially with my thick, coarse, unruly hair. It's very hard to find someone that can cut this type of hair. The first time I sat in Rachael's chair, and told her that I worked in cosmetics, she did not hesitate to to tell me that I needed a classy, sassy, chic style, and that's exactly what she gave me. And as far as my thick, coarse, unruly hair, it didn't phase her. Every since then, she's my girl. She's creative, artistic, and consistent every time with those scissors. I went to Sergio's for the first time today. It was highly recommended by my friend. I had a fabulous experience--probably THE BEST salon experience and I'm pushing 60, so I've been to a lot of salons in my lifetime! I was treated like a queen and given so much individual attention by Sergio and his staff. Sergio corrected my color and did a beautiful job. He also gave me a fantastic cut. Sergio, along with Amanda, gave me lessons on how to style my hair, which was wonderful. Amanda gave me an amazing shampoo & massage and recommended hair products that work best for me. Karen did an impeccable and thorough job waxing my eyebrows and upper lip. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the receptionist, but she was very welcoming and helpful. When my parking meter was about to expire, they went outside to feed it extra quarters so I wouldn't get a ticket. Sergio's is top notch. I highly recommend it. I recently moved to Dormont about 2 months ago, and needed a new place to get my hair done. I booked an appointment with Emily at Sergio's Style, and I was VERY impressed with her! She really listened to what I wanted during my consultation. Considering my blonde roots were so grown out that my hair looked like I had an ombre done, I was a little nervous getting a full head of highlights with a new stylist. She did an excellent job with my hair, and was able to completely blend my new highlighted blonde in with the old blonde at the bottom! Not only is she affordable, which surprised me because Sergio's is a Paul Mitchell salon, but very talented. Emily will make you feel right at home, like you're with one of your own friends. It's been a year since I've got my hair cut by Sergio, but since I have yelp account now, I have to share how much I love his work. He was taking care of my hair for 5 years before I moved to DC. Even after that I kept coming back to Pittsburgh to get a haircut by him for 2 years, till I finally found somebody here, who can take care of my hair equally good. He is magical. I always got compliments on how stylish and chick my hair looks, when they were cut by Sergio. Fun, classy, edgy, sharp, elegant...any look you can think of, he can create. My favorite was fun:) I trusted him so much that I could just ask him the look I want and didn't even need him to explain how he wants to cut my hair. I was always pleased with results. On a whim I decided to redo my current hairstyle. I work six days a week and usually 8-10 hour shifts at awkward times. I called Sergio's and they immediately welcomed me and said "how soon can you get here". I had the pleasure of meeting Karen and I must say she is EXCELLENT. I challenged her with just a picture of an inverted ombre (light blonde to dark brown) and she was so excited for the challenge. She informed me of every decision she was making and made sure that I was comfortable the entire time. I had work shortly and when I made that a point to Karen, she did not rush or do the job half way, but rather she gave me exactly what I wanted in just the nick of time. I have been colouring my hair off and on for 36 years of my life. Recently, with all the press about silver being a great thing for women to embrace and the birth of my beautiful grandson, I decided to embrace my inner silver fox. I had a consultation with Katie and sat back and watched her create magic! She did a full highlighting and an ash toner to blend with my silver roots. She was profession,kind and FAST! The process of going from my dry brunette locks to a healthy head of highlighted silver tresses from start to finish took 2 hours! I have been going to Bri at Sergio's for about a year and a half. I came in frazzled one day and said...Make me blonde again! Without hesitation, she gave me a beautiful blonde makeover. I had gotten the runaround from about 3 other salons saying that I had to have a double process and things like...it's a lot of maintenance. Bri knew exactly what I wanted, put a plan in place and now we have a routine that is perfect for me. She gives great cuts and THINS my hair the way I like it! She's nice and friendly but not overly talkative. I enjoy all of the people at this salon. They are young and hip and friendly and knowledgeable. I went to Sergio's Style for a cut and partial highlights from groupon. I was a little nervous because sometimes groupon deals are a waste of money. However, I enjoyed my experience here. My stylist, Brittany, was very friendly and knew exactly how I wanted my hair despite my lack of knowledge of hair styling. When they wash your hair they take you to a room in the back. You are supposed to be quiet in this room. There is relaxing music playing. When they wash your hair they massage your head as well. It did take a little longer than I'm used to. However the hair dresser was very particular and cut my hair perfectly. For people is this area I would recommend this salon. Just make sure you have enough time. read more

I purchased a groupon to Sergio's over a year ago after consistently feeling underwhelmed and disappointed with my hairdresser at Ulta. I am so glad I made the decision to try something new. My stylist, Bri, is AMAZING! She not only listens to my suggestions but goes above and beyond to make her own as well. Over the past year she has given me multidimensional color that I've been looking for for a long time, and has also helped me to grow it to the length I want while keeping it healthy. I took my 14 year old son in b/c he needed a hair cut and wanted a real one (beyond Super cuts) and IT WAS AWESOME!!!! Sergio himself cut my son's hair. Sergio was GREAT at figuring out what my son wanted and how to give it to him (14 year old boys are NOT easy to figure out). He spent alot of time talking to my son and showing him photos of options. Then, even asked about my son's interest in maintenance and his daily routine. Sergio started cutting and he NAILED it. He gave my son a totally gorgeous style that is easy to recreate...no product necessary. WE LOVE SERGIO and are definitely going back. The cappuccino there was great too! From brassy to classy. I had gone to another salon for about a year and only recently started getting highlights and experimenting with balayage. However, after receiving a botch balayage job from the first salon, I read reviews online for Sergio's and more specifically the designer, Dessa. I called to set up an appointment and they got me in the very next day with Dessa! She took great care of me and corrected the initial balayage entirely! Now my hair is a very nice tortoise shell balayage with a ton of dimension. I highly recommend seeing Dessa at Sergio's and the other designers. I will definitely go back to see her! read more

Katie have been doing my hair for a while and always leave happy every time! She great at what she does and I can always count on her to do what I ask or give me advice on my ideas. Recently, I started to do the Brazilian blowout treatments after I get my hair colored. This is my 2nd treatment and I absolutely love what it does to improve the texture of my hair after it has been bleached! It also takes away time from styling and makes air drying a lot easier especially since I wake up early to head to work and spending a day at the pool. My wife had been going to see Bri for a couple years and she always loved the job she did on her hair, both when she got it cut and when she got it colored. For some reason I continued to go the Supercuts to get my hair cut even though the price wasn't much difference. I finally decided to give Bri a try at my wife's insistence and I'm glad I did. Great salon nestled in the heart of Dormont. It's clean, friendly, and trendy. The room where they wash your hair is quiet and relaxing - spa like. I love the scalp massage! Dessa does my cuts.
