An overdue review but I was visiting Cali not too long ago, and my cousin (17 years) finally got his driver's license. We checked on Yelp for a good dealership around the area and came across this place. There's a reason why it's rated 4 stars with over 1,000 reviews! The sales staff is incredibly informed; Bryan attended to us and made the process was really fast and easy. He is very attentive and patient with your needs, which I've never experienced back home myself. He really outdid himself to make sure that you have the best experience possible, with unbeatable prices. Make sure you get him! If I lived here, I would seriously check it out. I must say I had the best customer service so far in my car shopping weeks here. We were greeted nicely by Sason Dardashti upon entering the lot. After a few hours of walking around, I was getting frustrated at the lack of selection and of receving help from any sales guy. When we walked into Subaru, Samson was nice and showed us around. My car-knowing friend, Michael Smith. suggested I take a look at the Impreza. Sason walked us over to some of the sedan and hatch. I was quite impressed with the low price and nice interior. I normally get my Subaru serviced at another shop but came across an opening at Serramonte Subaru at the last minute. I was pleasantly greeted by Melanie who helped me with my vehicles service having missed the 15k mark and being closer to 18k miles. She was very knowledgeable with the service, advised me on the options, checked for recalls, and got me a great deal on the service. Worst buying experience possible trying to find a Forester. After a pleasant test drive, we started to talk about pricing. The sales persons tactics were to delay and try to play hardball and couldn't negotiate much below MSRP. Eventually his "manager" came over and said the best price he could do was $$ OVER MSRP. At that point I knew that this dealership wasn't serious in trying to sell cars. I would never purchase nor recommend this dealer to anyone. This place is terrible. I dunno why there's so many good reviews here. I got my last oil change here and when I returned to pick up my car, I noticed there was a license plate imprint that I don't remember seeing before I dropped off my car. I questioned the Subaru people here about it, but since I didn't have any proof, they just denied it. Now, I'm not saying they had anything to do with it, but it was GLARINGLY obvious there was a mark there. I would like to think I would have noticed it awhile ago. Lesson learned: I am taking pictures of my car BEFORE I send it to the shop. I was a bit apprehensive about bringing my car back, but it was time for another oil change/60,000 mile maintenance thing. They keep on calling me/spam calling me, offering me a "Welcome Back" special. Since this is the closest Subaru to me, I was willing to give them a second chance. I JUST called them (maybe 30 minutes before I wrote this review) asking about the "Welcome Back Special" details. They put me on hold for 10 minutes, with some stupid Subaru commercials, and then just hung up on me!!!!! So I called back and asked the person picking up about the Welcome Back special and she put me on hold with the same stupid Subaru commercials. I waited through that for about 2 minutes, then the phone started ringing. I got so excited. Was I finally going to be able to schedule my 60,000 mile maintenance?!?! WOMP, womp. It was voicemail. Omg screw that, I exasperated loudly as I hung up. Hopefully that didn't get recorded into the voicemail. Then I called up Putnam Subaru cuz they're the second closest one. I was able to schedule an appointment, which they quoted me for about $50ish dollars less than what was on Serramonte's subaru's website. And I was so happy, I said ok. I didn't even care about the "welcome back special" any more. Thankfully they have higher reviews on Yelp. I didn't know. I checked after the fact. Anyway, definitely never coming back. Just came home with my first new car, a 2014 Subaru Forester. Very exciting for me! I had shopped around a bit, testing other small SUVs, and experienced the scenes at other car dealers. The excellent customer service I received from Gunther Sprecher really sold me on the Subaru. Gunther was friendly but not pushy, he was patient and knowledgeable, he never rushed me and really knew all about the Foresters. He went the extra mile (all the way to Monterey!) to be sure I got exactly what I wanted. He showed me every Forester in the place, patiently listened as I changed my mind several times, and made me feel he was really on my side. I am a reasonably car savvy individual who has been in the market for a new car for three weeks. I went to Serramonte after thoroughly researching and had a phenomenal experience buying a 2015 Subaru WRX. I spoke with Joe Blanco and his colleague Donald Gordon and they were extremely helpful. I was able to test drive the exact cars I was interested in and was not hassled into considering other cars or packages. The negotiation for the car was as to be expected but it is advisable to do your research before sitting down for a serious conversation. Know what you want, how much it should cost, and what other dealers are offering. Joe and Donald were incredibly respectful throughout the process and very committed to making sure both parties were happy with the end result. The finance department was a breeze and very helpful as well. Don't be afraid to ask questions, they won't judge you and are honest in their responses. This review is for the SALES STAFF. I did end up buying a 2014Forester for below factory invoice, but not without some frustration. My primary salesperson, Martin, was friendly and not pushy, however he didn't know the answers to many of my questions about the car. I think if you're going to sell a product, especially such an expensive item as a new car, you should know it forward and backward. He did find out the answers, however, and I found more answers through my own research. On the day of the actual sale, Martin had the day off so I dealt with his supervisor (can't remember his name). I was promised over the phone that they had a Forester with a specific set of options, at a specific price. When we drove to the dealer to by the car, they had the car with a navigation system ($950 extra)...which I didn't want. Me: "This isn't the car we agreed upon over the phone. It has a nav system." Salesman: "Oh, we can give you a good deal on that." Me: "Unless the 'good deal' is 'free,' I don't want it." Salesman: "I'll talk to my manager." I know you know how this ended up. The "good deal" was $750. I literally stood up to walk out, but he promised me he'd "find" the exact car we agreed upon. He found it, and we returned the next day to buy it. Tony in financing gave me a pretty hard, annoying sell on the extended warranty and pre-paid service package. So, 3 stars for what sounds like a pretty typical car-buying experience. A shame, because it doesn't have to be that way - just sell me the car I want and don't push me into other things I don't want, and BOOM! 5 stars. Walked in kicking STi tires, ended up walking out with a 2013 hatch. Not because I felt pressured or anything, but because Gunther was a decent dude, could tell I actually wanted the car, and helped immensely to make it happen. Holding back a star because of the "coupon" crap when dealing with the finance guys. You can't increase my financing rate by 1% just because I won't buy the stupid protection package. It doesn't work that way. It's not a coupon, and that's a pretty shady way to get me to pay more on the loan or try and force me into the various extended warranty / service / protection packages. All in all, the guys I dealt with are decent and are trying to make a buck. Can't fault them for that. Just be an informed shopper, like with anything. read more

First, I would like to thank Martin Cruz and Aaron Li at Serramonte Subaru for helping me with my first brand new vehicle, a 2013 STI. I had an appointment with Martin to check out the ONLY hatchback STI that was available (I believe it was one of the last 3 STI available in the bay area since I've called and emailed around other dealerships). Upon arrival, Aaron greeted me and kept me companied while Martin was busy with another customer. He offered help and showed me around until Martin was free. He even took an extra mile to have Martin offer me a great deal that I cannot deny. (Final result, I've made the purchase) Martin was precise, we both agreed and came to a conclusion that I know I wanted an STI and I've stated clear to him that IF he cannot satisfy my offer price for the purchase, I would not like to spent too much time getting hassled and he totally agreed to it. Which made this transaction SO much more smooth. Martin showed me the car, had sat in it, touch the seats, do whatever I wanted with the car but was told before hand that we cannot test drive it because STI are well sought for therefore it is very important to keep the mileage as low as possible and which I agreed. Long story short, the negotiation was longer than I expected lets just say I've got a HELL of a deal that I cannot turn down. So I made the purchase, and financed it through Subaru. Then, after the long wait of having the car detailed and ready to be delivered to me. Upon inspection, I've noticed the front right bumper and rear bumper has about 1 inch of minor scratch/mark. I've pointed it out to Martin, immediately he said "no problem, give me 10 minutes and I will have those taken off spotlessly." Martin took the STI back into the detail shop, less than 10 minutes later, he came back with the car that's spotless. The scratch at the front passenger side bumper and rear bumper is totally gone. So we went out for a "road test" and he top off the tank for me since it's part of the agreement that the vehicle comes with a full tank of gas. I couldnt be happier with the staff over at Serramonte Subaru. I highly recommend if you're looking for a subaru, please look for Martin Cruz and Aaron Li over at Serramonte Subaru, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. read more

When these people want you to come in Oh how persistent and aggressive they are with their calls but once your in they seem to all vanish or be on "lunch breaks" I have been playing phone tag with these people they gave me the wrong estimated time frame as to when my part would arrive. I am trying to locate my car part that I ordered a while ago looking for an update status as each day swings on by either I am sent straight to voicemail or when finally somebody answers they say we will give a call back and click. We waited 20 mins and had to ask several people for help before they sent a sales person our way. Me: We'd like to compare the Forrester and the Outback, can you walk me thru the differences? Sales: The Outback is longer, if you're into that. Me: Can you tell me about the two different packages on this car? Sales: One has a turbo engine. Me: Does they still have problems with turbo engines? Sales: I don't know This went on and on. I asked to speak to a manager he said it had to go thru him. He couldn't price out two vehicles at the same. He asked how much downpayment we wanted to put down, I asked what was recommended or standard, he said "whatever I feel like". We don't have a car and actively need one, and we walked out the 4th time we had asked him the same information for basic pricing packages.
