My experience with Serramonte Volkswagen service was extremely disappointing. I brought my 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 in for a routine 30,000-mile inspection and a recall repair. While my vehicle was in their custody, it fell from a service lift and was damaged. The repair required sectioning and welding work on the rocker panel area. Although the dealership arranged for the body repair, the overall handling of the situation was poor. The repair process took months with repeated changes to the completion date and very limited communication. I frequently had to follow up myself to get updates. Even more concerning, after the accident occurred under their control, the dealership still charged me over $350 for the original service visit and refused to offer any form of diminished value compensation for the damage caused to my vehicle. Accidents can happen, but how a business responds afterward matters. In this case there was little accountability, poor communication, and no effort to make the situation right. I hope Serramonte Volkswagen reviews their service procedures and customer care policies so future customers do not have the same experience. read more

It was the first time using the Customer Service/ Service center for my annual maintenance on my Tiguan. Gabe, was my point person and he was fabulous. His Customer Sevice was exceptional and he started off with a smile and a warm greeting. He walked me through the services as well as expectations, which does not happen to often. I talked to Gabe about what I needed and it was so refreshing to explain my needs. There was No, back-and-forth, or him trying to sell me on Services. He heard my needs, he validated me and then executed my vision. Now, my car is running smoothly and I have a list of things I can update for my long term happiness. At a future date. The service took a couple of hours and I was able to stay on site in the waiting room. They provided a sitting area for customer who can't wait for the customer shuttle. They some options for snacks (through a vending machine). They also have a wide variety of options. In the for of: traditional coffee, lattes, hot chocolate and espresso's. That's offered from their digital coffee machine. A great pick-me-up, if you are like me and want to get things done early in the morning. The only downside to servicing any vehicle at the dealership is the exorbitantly higher cost for the labor/ Service. Now, the positive are: they will always use factory parts. Also, having your info in their system allows them to send you regular updates that are needed about your vehicle. Finally, when to do regular services so it's not forgotten. Ultimately, I enjoyed my experience here. Have made it relatively easy and simple. I will go back for certain services, not all. But when I do, I will be working with Gabe. read more

Purchased a 2025 VW Jetta on Friday, 11/14/25. Sweet ride and nice color, platinum metallic gray. I was referred by my boss who knows a salesman at the location, Jonathan Noriega. Jonathan was friendly, professional and a no pressure salesman. He patiently explained all the bells and whistles which is daunting considering I previously drove a 20 plus year old car. He got me the best rate he could at 3.9 percent which is phenomenal considering I was quoted 6.5 to 7.5 by my mortgage lender and credit union. The interior of the showroom is huge and welcoming. I recently purchased a 2018 Lexus NX300 from Volkswagen of Serramonte. During the inspection, I discovered the windshield was damaged, which is a safety concern. Driving with a cracked or damaged windshield in California can be illegal if it obstructs the driver's view, and it creates potential safety and liability issues. The dealership stated they would attempt to arrange for someone to come to me for the windshield replacement, but also mentioned there was a possibility that I would need to return to the dealership if that could not be arranged. Considering I am located about 86 miles away (roughly a 1.5-2 hour drive one way), requiring me to return to the dealership for a repair related to a condition present at delivery is not reasonable, especially when there are many reputable auto glass repair shops much closer to my location. I also don't believe a fair attempt was made to locate a local glass company or have their glass provider travel to me. Additionally, during the drive home I began noticing what appears to be a wheel bearing issue, which is another concern. I have emailed the General Manager in an attempt to resolve this directly but have not received a reply. I am still hoping management will step in and address these concerns fairly. If we cannot resolve this, I may need to pursue further options through the appropriate consumer and regulatory channels. read more

Just bought a vehicle from Serramonte VW. Sales and finance folks were pleasant, but it was an incredibly frustrating experience *after* I paid cash via wire transfer. My bank confirmed the wire transfer within an hour, but it took two days to get any confirmation from the dealer's side that the money was received and in processing. I didn't expect to take delivery of the vehicle instantaneously after their bank received the money, but some acknowledgement that they had my funds and were processing that payment would have been tremendously helpful. Half a week with no confirmation had me wondering if the money was lost on their side. The dealer's handling of this payment-to-vehicle-delivery phase of the transaction felt like amateur hour. The lady for the service department number kn the website answered said let me find out a price put me on hold, came back gave me a $960 price and when I asked what that would include because I need to make sure it includes one major component she says I don't know I don't have that in front of me? My parents and I were shocked by the attitude and left feeling super uncomfortable. Once I finally was able to get some help from the service manager, she continued to talk about me to each of her coworkers as they came up to her desk. Was accidentally charged for a service on my mom's car when I brought it in, called and they said I'd get a refund check in the mail in six to eight weeks. This was July of 2025. Still haven't received the check. Have called and called and emailed and emailed and no helpful response. There's no sense of urgency. It isn't an insignificant amount of money either. A better response would have been, "I'm sorry we let you schedule an appointment without making sure staff would be available who could do the work. Original review: I just bought a used 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 EV and found out there were a couple of active safety recalls on it. I scheduled an appointment at the Serramonte Volkswagen dealership to get the recalls addressed, but had to wait until the following weekend for an available appointment slot. No big deal, I thought. Upon arriving for my appointment on Saturday morning, I drove up to the service bay and went inside to the service counter. There was nobody in line ahead of me, but I still had to wait a few minutes for one of the two service agents to check me in. After they pulled my appointment up, they said they were sorry, but there was nobody there who could work on EVs on the weekend and that I would need to schedule an appointment during the week! This dealership had a full week to have someone let me know the EV tech didn't work weekends, but they waited until I showed up for my appointment to tell me they couldn't do the work. I highly suggest that you find another Volkswagen dealership. The only reason I came to this dealership was due to its proximity to my home and that was a mistake. 1. Sketchy technicians who are constantly switching up what is wrong with your car. You have to hold them accountable by requesting an itemized estimate. Without an itemized list they will try to charge you and your insurance for things you don't need. 2. If your car is insured be prepared to wait a long time to get your car back. They will tell you it's a quick fix and then drag out the time while they fix uninsured vehicles faster. It took 19 days to get my car back for something they said would take 1 week. 3. As a woman I felt extremely uncomfortable doing business with this dealership given that the technician wanted to talk to a "guy" after I called him out for wanting to charge me for things my car didn't need even though I was the owner of the vehicle and the client. It seems that they "may" be following some discriminatory practices at this dealership. I've attached some of the messages from the text chain between the Serramonte Volkswagen technician and myself. The tech communicated via phone calls, voicemail and text messages where I received different information each time. I highly recommend that you find a dealership that is trustworthy and actually deserves your business. Save yourself the time and stress. read more

Customer service. I came in for a regular 16k mileage service for my electric Kia. They were supposed to call me and let me know how much it would be but did not do so. I came 10 minutes early to my 7:45am appointment and they told me it shouldn't take long because it is an electric vehicle (no oil to change, and fewer moving parts than regular cars). Despite that, they were going to charge me $257 which is ludicrous. But I was already there really early on a Friday morning so I said okay, no problem-- I would just be in the waiting area. After waiting there for FIVE hours, I asked about the status of my car and they said they would need another hour and a half! No apologies-- they just said that they are overbooked. Seriously, no apologies whatsoever. So I told them to never mind and just get me my car, and I left. The car wreaked of stale cigarettes so I had to drive home with all of my windows down while it was freezing outside. I am so angry that I wasted all of that time and now my car smells awful. read more

This is hands down the worst dealership I've ever dealt with. I brought my VW in for a headlight issue. On day one, after keeping my car for almost 10 hours, they told me they needed more time. I was fine leaving it if they could provide a loaner, but they didn't have one. I came back the next day, and after a few hours they suddenly said the issue was "more serious" and that they needed to keep my car over the weekend. I told them I couldn't leave my car that long without a loaner. After I pushed back, they magically "found the problem" and told me I needed to buy an ECU module that they claimed would fix everything. When I came in person, they couldn't guarantee that the module would solve the issue. They said if it didn't work, then I'd need to replace the headlights too. Despite that, they charged me over $300 for just the diagnostic that didn't direct me to a solid solution. What was the point of that? Here's the worst part: the module they sold me was defective. After installing it, every warning light on my dashboard came on. I replaced the headlights too -- still broken. When I put my original module back in, everything went back to normal. So they sold me a defective part and refused to guarantee a solution. What made this even more suspicious is that when I bought the module, the guy at the desk immediately told me, "You can't return this," before I even asked. I ended up spending hundreds of dollars on something I could've Googled myself, and they were completely unhelpful. To make matters worse, my sister also brought her VW here for service, and a mechanic crashed her bumper into a wall. How does that even happen? I bought my car from this dealership, and now I don't trust them to service it. That says everything. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Definitely had to write a review after my phenomenal experience at this Volkswagen dealership last week. I came in on a Thursday night for a Tiguan test drive w/ Rob and he was so knowledgeable about every feature and detail about the car. He had a legit answer to every question and I was thoroughly impressed. Compared to other car dealerships - the staff here was surprisingly not pushy whatsoever. You can easily walk around and browse without being heckled by salespeople. Rob kept it real about pricing and inventory, were super helpful in answering my barrage of questions (never once had to refer to a piece of paper or notes or anything), and never once tried to upsell me on any trims, additional features or accessories. Negotiations were really easy - they didn't take too long to make offers like other dealerships do to make you feel impatient. I ended up walking out with a jaw-dropping deal for a brand new car by the end of the night. Rob & the team were also really accommodating - staying way past closing hours to help me with the finances and even allowing me to pick up the car the following day to give me time to figure out insurance/parking. Super communicative during the whole process, even checking in AFTER I already made the purchase to make sure everything was going okay with the car. They are far from great. They'll smile, flatter you, and promise you the moon and stars right up until there's no commission or upsell in it for them. Our car was only slightly over the prepaid maintenance window, and instead of showing even a shred of goodwill, they tried to push a 1300 service like it was doing us a favor. Toyota has handled similar situations with professionalism and courtesy in the past, which only makes this experience stand out for how bad it was. I was actually warming up to the idea of buying a new car possibly even a Volkswagen, since my wife has been wanting to trade hers in but this experience killed that entirely. At least one driver on the staff drives aggressively and dangerously. Last week, I was charging at the Tesla Supercharger at the top of the Serramonte Mall parking structure. For those who are not aware, this dealership, as well as many others in the area, store cars in their inventory in this structure, near the top floors. After completing my charging, I was driving down the structure to exit when I heard honking around me. This honking continued as I was proceeding down the levels of the parking structure, and I noticed it was coming from the car behind me, a VW ID.4 with Serramonte VW dealer plates. Clearly, this driver was not happy that I was in their way, and they were letting me know as much. The honking, in addition to aggressive accelerating and braking, didn't stop in the structure. Unfortunately, I was going the same way as this driver, so this behavior continued through the streets of the mall, Southgate Ave, and Junipero Serra Blvd. Eventually, the driver decided to pass me, but not without running a stoplight by Serra Center. The driver turned left and veered to Collins Ave, the street where this VW dealership is located. I called the dealership to report this behavior. The receptionist was very nice and apologetic on the phone. She informed me that a manager would contact me for a follow-up. It has been a week, and no call thus far. I hope that they hold this person accountable for their actions to protect their employees and other drivers. If management would like my dashcam video, I would be happy to share it. read more

These scammers sold me a car that is not safe to drive. Last week, I purchased a 2021 Golf from this dealership. While driving home, I hit a patch of bright sunlight on the highway and could barely see out of the windshield. Thinking it was dust, I used the windshield wipers to clean it off. This is when I realized it was not dust but hundreds of tiny scratches. I took the car back to the dealership and asked for it to be replaced so it would be safe to drive, and they essentially told me it wasn't their problem, despite confirming that the windshield was damaged. Everyone expects used car dealers to be sleazy, but this is some next-level deceptive behavior. I'm not entirely sure how these people sleep at night. read more

They advertise easy appointments online but their follow-up is non existent and if you have to get a status good luck calling, 90% of calls go to a receptionist or voicemail and no one EVER calls back. In my latest disappointment booked an online appointment for Friday afternoon to have a door seal looked at (came loose) only to arrive and be told they have to keep car over weekend. Would not even look at the door seal or confirm if they had the part (I would have brought it back whenever). After many years of various experiences my only conclusion is that VW should terminate this one, its really giving a bad reputation to the brand on top of the outrageous price gouging in the showroom. read more

I just leased a ID4 and the whole experience was great. Wayne was very honest and patient - he answered my 100 questions over text and in person while I decided what I wanted. When my partner and I walked into the Serramonte VW on 4/06/2025 we knew that we would be buying a GTI but we didn't know from which dealership. Sho Tsai helped us that day and I can honestly say that I never knew that car shopping could be so fun! Sho was very welcoming, personable, patient, and fun. My partner and I were definitely feeling anxious when we first walked into the dealership but Sho made us feel like we were old friends. He proceeded to answer our questions about the 2024 GTI and about me trading in my 2011 GTI. He spent over 4 hours with us. During this time we never felt pressured to buy and were never hurried along. In addition, we joked and laughed almost the entire time. In the end we did buy our new GTI from him.
