In 2019, a Subaru dealer replaced our 2015 Outback engine due to the 'piston stiction' issue. The warranty for one year. In Jan. 2022, we took our car into Serramonte Subaru to inspect why we were using 1/2 quart of oil per week. The Service department discovered the head gasket was leaking from improper installation during the engine replacement. Repairs estimated at $5400.00. The Service manager, Brian Reidy, suggested we file a claim with Subaru of America asking for a review. Two weeks later, Subaru of America agreed to cover parts and labor! In our minds, this result was achieved from Brian's help with us and providing service information and input about our claim. I was prepared not once , but twice , to purchase a vehicle . I knew exactly what I wanted , and the first time would have been a new and fully equipped one . The second time (a few months later ) was a used one (again I knew the exact one I wanted including the vin). The first time I was told they don't do any paperwork online and to expect to be in there for four hours !!!! The second time , the associate said he'd check but never bothered to call back . Buyer beware: shady sales at this Subaru. Our NEW car did NOT come with new tires!! We bought what we THOUGHT was a brand new Subaru Forester. After less than 1000 miles, we find a leak in a tire, which we found was because of a nail. According to Subarus website, new tires bought at Subaru dealers are covered for any damage like this. He knew these models inside and out, and helped us understand the value of what we would be getting between the base, premium, sport, and limited models. We are very grateful to Serramonte Subaru Service Department. While we were driving our Subaru Crosstrek 2017 from Saratoga to San Francisco via Hwy 280, a warning light came on as we were near San Mateo. We quickly found out (from the handbook) that the warning indicator was for the tires. We pulled aside from the freeway to inspect the tires. They looked fine. However we were uncomfortable driving the car to SF and back without knowing if there was something wrong with one of the tires or tires. As we were near South San Francisco, we thought that we should stop at the Subaru dealership in Serramonte just to see if they could assess and remedy the situation. We pulled into the Serramonte Subaru service area around 9am. We waited just a few minutes and a gentleman from the service team came over to find out if we had an appointment. We explained our situation. He drove the car away to run a diagnostic and came back in 20 minutes to tell us that all 4 tires had low pressure. He put air in and turn off the warning light. I wish I would have came here to see all these one star reviews before going to this dealership . Serramonte Subaru is the worst dealership I've ever done business with . I bought my first new car in over ten years yesterday , and my experience was complete garbage from start to finish . I took a while to pick out the car of my dreams , and went into this dealership to see if they had it . When they told me they didnt have it , but could order it . I thought " why not " and put the order in . It took two months to come and I was super excited . I got to the dealership to see its not exactly what I want by a long shot . I got a crosstrek premium , and nothing was premium about this car . It didnt have the sunroof i ordered , or the heated seats I ordered , it didnt have the boot or leg lights that were supposed to be on it , and it didnt come with a cargo cover .. no premium sound .. NOTHING . it wa pretty much a base model car ... but I needed a new car , so I again thought " why not , Ill save money " when they got me into the dealership after looking at the car , they tried to sell it to me for the price it would be if it DID have the options I ordered .. but it didnt ... I was also told I could bring in a personal check ( I asked If I should bring in a cashiers check ) I was told that wasn't necessary .. but when I went to pay with the personal check , they made me fill out all this extra credit info paperwork that I wouldn't have had to fill out If I just brought in a cashiers check like I asked them . I gave them a chance to make things right .. I really didn't think it was right they were sending me , a new customer into san francisco with a new car and no cargo cover to cover my belongings in the boot . having a cargo cover is the only way to turn a crosstrek boot into a covered space so your stuff isn't all exposed . So I asked them to give me a cargo cover( a 50$ expense for them) .. to which the manager told me to screw off ... they completely ruined my new car experience ... and I beg you not go go here and experience the same .. GO TO THE BURLINGAME SUBARU !!!! This dealership could have had me as a customer for years to come ... but now I won't only send my business elsewhere , but anyone I talk to as well . I have always brought my 2018 Outback to Serramonte Subaru for service and warranty repairs. It is easy to book service appointments online and there are usually many spots available to chose from. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by a service representative as I drove up to the service queue. Right on time and intake was facilitated via an handheld device. My service advisor, Paul Bautista, remembered me from my previous visit and explained the routine maintenance that I needed. He advised that he could get me a discount for the work that day. Very much appreciated! My vehicle was completed on time as promised. Paul advised that I need additional work on my transmission pump seal. I was happy to hear that this work was covered by my extended warranty. I brought the car back on Monday and the repair was completed on time as promised. I'm giving 3 stars because I leased my Crosstrek here 3 years ago and it was a great experience. However, my recent experience was a bit disappointing. My lease is coming to an end and I want to buyout the lease, so I emailed a salesman I had a recent correspondence with and he never responded. A week later after not hearing back, I decided to reach out to another salesman. This was a bit annoying but overall not a huge deal. I'm leaving names out because I don't want to get anyone in trouble despite my poor experience. This second salesman I reached out to called me and said "I just want to be transparent with you, when you buy out a lease we have to do an inspection on the vehicle which adds another 3 or 4,000 dollars to the value of your car. The good thing is it also lowers your interest rate and extends your warranty." I was a little surprised and asked "is this optional?" and he said no it's not optional. I immediately had a bad feeling about this and felt he was being dishonest. A vehicle inspection and an extended warranty are not the same thing yet he made it seem like they had to come together in a package. I decided to call Putnam Subaru in Burlingame instead and I asked them if there was a mandatory 4,000 dollar charge when you buy out a lease. He said "no, the only additional costs should be processing fees and sales tax". He even said that I should file a complaint about the person who lied to me and tried to scam me into buying an extended warranty. I'm not going to do that but I'm leaving this review to let people know to just be careful with car salesman! Always get a second opinion on things if something doesn't seem right. I went to Putnam and had a wonderful experience where they were very honest about pricing and helped me get the best deal. I ended up trading in my lease for a different used car which had less miles and nicer features than my lease. They even waived the penalty costs for the surplus mileage and damage on my lease. Overall I would come back to Serramonte if needed but will definitely be weary of aggressive sales tactics. read more

This is a review of the service department. If you want to be lied to and overcharged, go ahead and bring your car here. Pay thousands for regular maintenance and they'll ignore issues so you just have to come back and they'll make more money for repeat trips. Ask them why they didn't spot this totally major repair when they had your car two months ago and they'll lie and say it just happened even though the problem is the kind of problem that doesn't just happen all of a sudden and definitely would have been there two months ago. Ask them why it took all day for your car to get diagnosed and they'll give you a whole song and dance about diagnostics and how they're doing all this stuff and it takes time and another mechanic can show you how it takes three minutes to diagnose this super common problem. The they'll only do a partial fix and try to get you to come back for another big repair next week, when actually the car would be fine with a minor repair that they could have gotten done that day if they weren't playing games. It's all lies. They're bilking people, they oversell and upsell and they get away with it and they don't care because a lot of us have too little time and too much money to investigate. Did some basic Reddit research because my car had a really common problem and figured out they were trying to scam me for over $7k on what is a $1,500 repair. I'm bringing my car to a local mechanic here on out. I will never ever let this dealer touch my car again and I will never buy from any of their dealerships. read more

Tip: You can cancel your auto warranty within 3 months for a full refund on your new or used vehicle. If you try to cancel your warranty directly with the dealership, they will tell you that you must come in person in order to do so. This is a lie. They'll also make every attempt to prevent you from cancelling. Contact the warranty company directly. For used cars, it is Assurant. This 1 star review is for the finance department, particularly Kish. We came in to Serramonte Subaru to purchase a used 2018 Toyota Prius C. There aren't many of these models in good condition, so we came here specifically for that. We've informed them that we were already pre-approved for a used car loan @ 2.75% for 66 months with Patelco Credit Union and provided documentation. Kish assured me that the application he printed, a Patelco loan for 2.99% @ 72 months was standard w/ their contracts but that Patelco would be the ones to adjust this rate based off what we were initially approved for. That was a lie. After speaking with Patelco, they did inform us that we were approved for a lower rate, however, the application submitted by Serramonte Subaru was a completely different application and that I signed to the terms of that agreement. Kish never attempted to process the loan we were pre-approved for. Was this our mistake for signing that agreement? Absolutely. Did Kish lie to us in order to sign it? Also yes. Both are true. I'm not financially ruined by this mistake, we will be pre-paying this car so that it is paid off early. I don't appreciate the predatory practices from Serramonte Subaru. We own two Subarus. Both are from Livermore Subaru. Buy from them, they're better. read more

I have left Serramonte Subaru and I have gone to a different dealership Everyone was extremely helpful when I bought the car but nobody wants to help now that includes the service desk where you make your appointment.
