It's impossible to get ahold of anyone on the phone so you have to either schedule online or bring your car in person which can be challenging with a flat tire or if you're having engine issues. Maybe it's because our warranty has expired that they no longer feel a need to provide quality service. This is a review of the service department. Bought a brand new Forester from this dealership and the drive on the car is amazing. The sale of the car is pretty hassle free and the finance department made signing the papers easy. Would highly recommend Tom as a sales rep because he will help you find what you need, which is also the reason this isn't a 1 star review. The main reason is because almost 1 month after buying a brand new car, the car still isn't working like a brand new car should. Now, let me explain what I mean. Did a test drive of the car and everything seemed fine so then I started the paperwork to buy the car. Once we finished the paper work and Tom started to show me the features I noticed that the front speakers weren't working. So then immediately Tom went to find someone more knowledgeable and said a simple software update is needed and I can pick it up the next day. Next day came and more problems. The car's software update was done but the speakers still didn't work so I decided to have the dealer hold onto the car while waiting for the new amplifier to come because it is related to the vin and takes about a week, which is fine. Amp came, which was promptly installed and the speakers still didn't work on a brand new car. Did I say brand new yet? Then the next step was to replace the whole radio unit and the battery, which takes another week to come. Decided just like before to let the dealer hold onto car while they were ordering the head unit. A week later and the radio unit finally came. They were even nice enough to pick me up from my home (another reason not 1 star). Load and behold the speakers finally worked! Super happy until I started trying to use some of the features of the car. There was a heat wave that was going on in the Bay area so i signed into MySubaru app to try to remote start the car and it says "Error please call Customer Support", which I did. Long story short (haha) basically the service center, which got the whole radio unit replaced needs to sync the new radio unit to the vin of my car. So I promptly contacted the rep Tom who is amazing and immediately informed the service department of this issue. Tom even sends me screen shots of the service order to help calm my nerves. Fast forward 2 weeks later there still hasn't been a resolution and MySubaru sitll doesn't work. Supposely this is just a remote update, which probably should have been done when installing the radio unit. All in all it has been about a month since I bought a brand new car from Serramonte Subaru and I just keep getting the cold elbow from the service department since this is just a remote update. O did I mention that the service department didn't wash the car after they replaced my radio unit? How do I know? there was bird poop all over the car. In conclusion, Tom will make the process of buying a car hassle free but the service department will make you wait and wait and wait. 1 Month later and still no resolution. Will update and hopefully will get a working car soon. Stay safe from the lightning fires and Covid. Update: This situation got resolved pretty quickly. Within 3 days we got the car for the first time in over a month fully functioning. Glad it got it fully functioning because the service advisor mentioned a potential warranty issue. Would have loved to changed the stars from 2 to 3 or even 4 stars depending on the level of service but again the service department this time, specifically the technicians, did something I asked them to please not do. Got all my windows tinted just the day before and the tinter told me to not roll the windows down for a 3 days since the tint needs to dry. Guess what happened? When the service manager, Brian, who is awesome let me talk to the tech the front window (luckily only one) was completely rolled down. Needed to say frustration occurred. Brian, who is super responsive, immediately told the tech to roll the windows back up. So I checked where did the communication lack? It was on the tech because the service advisor wrote on the paper to "DON'T ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS". There are bubbles/peeling on the tint now. Highly disappointed Now onto why mySubaru app doesn't work and Subaru of America told me that I needed to go back to the dealership physically even during COVID-19. Three things that were needed to be done. The service manager said the car was needed an updates after the head/radio unit was replaced and he confirmed it on site. The second thing that needed to be done was a sales rep, sadly Tom wasn't here, needed to sign me up and register me with the car. The third thing was mainly my phone needed to be on site to make sure it works with the car. This tells me that there is some kind of break in communication. The silver lining is that Brian will try to the best of his ability and he does try but sometimes it is hard to fix communication lines. Hence 2 stars kept. read more

They reset the tire pressure and sent her back on the road. The next day the tire was completely flay due to a nail. My advisor was so helpful and kind -- he made sure my car got exactly what it needed but also was sure to ask if there was anything else they could help with. A couple of weeks ago my friend had accidentally punched the trunk close and lock buttons fully into the trunk door, so I couldn't reach them. My advisor walked out there to take a look and fixed it on the spot free of charge! here is the tl;dr For the sticker price of $31k, we got a 2019 Subaru Outback with three good tires and a "star" crack on the window from a previous repair. When we complained about the tires, they kept our new-to-us car for 4 days so they could replace one tire on our AWD. When we complained about that, they found another 2019 Outback on their lot and switched the tires. Now they are acting put out about it, like I am being overly demanding. I realize it is a seller's market but I thought a $31k sticker price would at least get us 4 good tires and a solid windshield. Also worth mentioning that salesperson Chris does not know the difference in features between a 2019 Outback Premium and a 2022 Outback Premium. He kept saying they have the same features except the display was different, but the 2019 Outback Premium does not have Blind Side Detection, which we wanted. TL;DR - I was going to test drive an Impreza and purchase it, Serramonte let another dealership have it. I ordered one through Serramonte, they canceled my order. After getting my car elsewhere, I've been getting service at Serramonte since last year. Last Friday, I left Serramonte missing a hubcap. It's been a full week, I still can't get a call back when they say they will. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last year, in March of 2021, I had been searching for a basic Impreza with a manual transmission, and I had found one at Serramonte Subaru. I got in touch with Richard Wilson, their Internet Sales Manager, and he scheduled a test-drive for me later in the day. As I was leaving work to go to the dealership for the test-drive, Richard called me and told me that he sold the car to Shingle Springs Subaru. I had every intention of trading in my old car and driving off in the new car that same day, and that was clear when we scheduled the test-drive. I went and test-drove a Crosstrek they had in a manual transmission, which sold me on getting a Subaru, but I decided that I would order the car I wanted instead. Richard told me to build the car online and send him the confirmation code, we set up the order forms, I paid the $500 deposit, and he said he'd contact me next month. I waited a month without hearing from him and contacted him at the end of April to follow up. Due to supply chain issues, they were not able to make good on my order by April or May as I was originally told. Okay, sure, I'm not going to hold that against them, there's a known semi-conductor shortage globally, cool. So, I just wanted to sit tight and wait until my car could be built and delivered as originally promised. Apparently, that was too much to ask for. They canceled my order instead of letting me wait for it longer. They were unable to process the refund for my deposit without me being there, so I had to go back into the dealership on my day off to meet with their Finance guy for a refund. After that, I searched the online inventory of EVERY Subaru dealership in California, because that step was something that Serramonte was unwilling to do for me after canceling my order. I found the car I wanted down in National City (past San Diego) and asked if there was a way to have it delivered to Serramonte so I could pick it up from there, but National City would not deliver it that far, even if I paid for the transportation cost. I checked with Richard at Serramonte again, but there was nothing they could do for me. So, I drove over 1000 miles in one day to trade-in my old car and drive my new one back home. I love my Subaru, and I wish Serramonte had treated me better or assisted in delivering my new car in some way after letting another dealership have it while I was on my way to test-drive and purchase it , and after making me wait for a custom order and then canceling it on me. Fast-forward to March 2022, I went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation last Friday, but I noticed after I had gotten home that one of my hubcaps was missing. I called Serramonte's Service department and spoke with Nico, who said he would check with the mechanic who serviced my car and with Dwayne White Sr., the guy who handled my service that morning, and call me back. Nobody called me back. A female called me on Monday afternoon to ask for feedback regarding my recent service on Friday. I let her know that I was missing a hubcap and no one had called me back yet. She said a Manager would look into it and see about locating or replacing the hubcap, then call me back. Nobody called me back. I received a generic/template message via text from Dwayne White Sr. on late Tuesday afternoon asking for feedback on my recent service. I texted back what was going on and how no one has been calling me back, and Dwayne finally called me back. He said he would check with his Manager to see what could be done and call me back on Wednesday morning. I didn't get a call on Wednesday morning. I got a call on Wednesday afternoon and Dwayne left me a voicemail saying that he spoke with the General Manager and they will have a look at the cameras to see if I drove in with a missing hubcap or not, and that they will replace it if so, because they have it in stock. If not, Dwayne said he will "definitely let me know before the day ends at 6 'o clock." Dwayne did not let me know by 6:00 pm on Wednesday, nor did he call me at all on Thursday. I texted him back this morning, Friday, now a week since my car was serviced, and let them know that I will be going out of my way to go to any other Subaru service location, because I can't get a simple call back from anyone at Serramonte when they say they'll call me back. It's very possible that my hubcap actually was missing when I drove in last Friday, but we'll never know for sure, because I can't get a phone call from anyone there. read more

It is amazing that any business would have the gall to demand a fee for allocation of a "limited production run" vehicle. Sure - MSRP is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, but it is presumed that this is the top end of the price for an otherwise STOCK vehicle. Have some integrity and do business fairly. To my friends in the Bay Area, do not do business with these people until they change their tactics. A $49,995 markup for "ONLY 209 MADE: 195/209" is ridiculous. It is just a car. This is the worst dealership I've ever experienced from any brand. They use every car sales scam in the book, from bait-and-switch to flat out lying about common issues and recalls. The general manager is the worst of the sales staff - don't believe a word he says. Service department is decent, if you're lucky enough to deal with one of the few courteous and knowledgeable advisors. Those don't last long however, once they figure out what kind of dealership it actually is. I've had the service department mess up anything from minor things like putting the wrong oil in my car, forgetting the oil drain plug crush washer; to installing a wrong part in an engine (happened to a friend of mine).
