A solid little super clean taqueria with a good variety of classic options. I'd give it a 3.8 if Yelp allowed decimals. I wanted two different street tacos, but only had one of their regular large Al Pastor tacos as the street tacos are only offered in bundles of three or four. The Al Pastor was tasty enough with decent quality pork, but a bit dry and without any of the pineapple flavor or chunks that it should have. Toppings are the usual onions, cilantro, and guacamole. Chips cost $1.85 and are served nice and warm, but overdone a bit for my taste. The salsa bar is decent with a mild red chile, hot orange chile (de Arbol I think), tomatillo, and a mild runny green avocado-flavored version. Sliced radishes complete the scene. So Serranos has been open for a few years now and I can say that it's been hit or miss since their opening... I've also noticed that the owner of the business isn't responding to reviews both positive and negative. Sound like an ownership change has occurred within the past year. That might also explain the portion size reduction as reported by several yelpers. On my last visit the food was good but the service was slow and they were out of salsa.. Apparently when the shift changed the previous cashier didn't do their job and if fell to the next cashier. She did hustle to get the new salsa out there. Went in yesterday and the restaurant has an extremely strong seweage/bathroom smell . The smell made it impossible for me to want to dine in and also wasn't even in the mood to eat the food because of the smell of the restaurant . Definitely needs to have a health inspector come . I can appreciate a burrito that has not gotten the facepalm tax of being $20. However my good faith kind of backfired from kind of misleading advertising. They had $1.50 tacos but because I did not specify the Medium size I got charged $4.25. I asked for the regular, assuming that was the "regular" $1.50 taco. Sign outside has no mention of the Medium size requirement. Ordered a breakfast burrito with carne asada and potato and buñuelos as well. Salsa is ok but not spicy. Bueñuelos are a bit stale. Skip. Burrito was a little uninspiring but I was pleased that the meat was NOT chewy! Fresh, fresh meat. Taco was good. Ordered 2 times from here recently both via door dash. You can get disappointed quickly with bad Mexican food considering the vast amount of options out there but Serranos was fire both times! Both times asked for slight adjustments in the comments of the doordash order and both times they executed perfectly which is something I always appreciate when ordering to go food. The old El Mexicano graveyard spirit has not transcended to Serrano's First time here and my experience here was a little on the confusing side. I placed an order for a #5 combination plate, a bean and cheese burrito and a #5 breakfast burrito. As others have said, check your to go order before you leave. What I received, as per the gal working the register was two #5 combos and a bean and cheese burrito. I had to repeat my correct order 3 times before she understood that i wanted one #5 combo and one #5 breakfast burrito with said bean and cheese burrito. More confusion lay ahead regarding getting my money back for the difference in price. The matter was resolved without any grief for me the customer but it took awhile for the front end girl and her manager how to figure out the POS system. Meanwhile half of my order lay waiting for, and a few more minutes later, I received my correct order and headed home. The food itself was ok I guess. No real failures but nothing outstanding. The beans in the bean and cheese burrito and that in the breakfast burrito were a little on the runny side with not much taste. I obviously compare most beans to queen of refried beans, Kotija in Escondido. Kinda tough to handle the burritos in this case though. The breakfast burrito held up a bit better but was wet by the time it got the ends of the burrito (cut in half). Not a ton of flavor. The combo plate had the above said beans and rice that in and of itself was pretty good. The hard shell taco was crap, it was to hard and could snap a crown if you weren't careful. Moreover, the taco came with very little cheese. The enchilada in this case was done well, as it's cheese was melted inside and the sauce they use was very mild and not the canned bitter stuff. The have a perfectly fine selection of salsas, but we preferred their hottest version. Heat scale wasn't off the charts, but it had a nice viscosity and one can serve themselves via 1.5 plastic bolsitas. Overall, i might try this place once again sometime, but probably for more of sit down lunch. I think it an ok place, but just a wee bit on the pricier side of taco shops. read more

Stumbled in here on the way to the gym lol I definitely got lost in the sauce... the hot sauce it is. I ordered an order of carne asada chips/nachos which was freaking huge! I was offered free chips and salsa to enjoy while I waited for my order. Daisy, the cashier was very patient and friendly. She greeted me and all the other guests that came in and also said bye when each of us left. Wish she was available to work at my office... she seemed to really enjoy what she was doing. Now back to the food. My chips were perfect. The amount of cheese, sour cream, guacamole and beef was just the right amount. The temperature was on point too. Not like warm or piping hot. I added a bit of their red hot sauce which was probably one of my favorite sauces that I've tasted compared to other taco shops. I also enjoyed the complimentary hot carrots and Serrano peppers. So happy this place opened on my side of town. It's located in the Lowe's center toward the front. It's clean,and there is a nice salsa bar as well. The location seats about 50 people, so not super large but big enough. The staff was very friendly. I've been twice so far and both meals were amazing. I bought a Salsa Verde Burrito ($6.49). The heat was good. Spicy but not crazy hot and the pork was tender and flavorful. I actually wanted to buy another after eating it. I also bought a Carne Asada Burrito ($6.99). Very tasty offering with plenty of meat. Great flavor and it came with a small bag of chips which was a nice addition. The menu is huge so I'm not sure what I'll get next but I will be back, a lot. Slightly hidden place but it's a good choice for Mexican. Service is quick and they ensure you have everything. I got the cheese enchilada combo. They were made well, and I enjoyed the cheese blend.
