Excellent Pho, but a bit light on the proteins such that their ratio to the noodles is unbalanced. Next time I'd ask to pay for more. The broth is superb and there is a toppings bar with all the sauces, basil, cilantro, and bean sprouts that you want. Very diverse menu with plenty of appetizers, noodle options, plates, salads, sides, and sandwiches. Plus, I love that they offer a bunch of different kinds of spring rolls so you can mix it up and keep trying more. The staff also keeps everything really clean, which is always a good sign. I also appreciated that they leave pitchers of water and cups on the table so you can help yourself--little details like that make things easier. After each group left, they wiped down the tables right away. The service felt casual but still attentive. It's a great place to unwind after shopping since it's right off the freeway by the North County mall. We stopped by on a whim and were really glad we did. Honestly, I'm really upset. My family and I used to love this place, and coming back for the first time since the renovation was so disheartening. The new look is appealing, and the "pho bar" seems like a nice addition, but the experience overall was very disappointing. The brown sugar milk tea boba I ordered tasted like water mixed with powder--it was honestly disgusting. I could have made better boba from a packet at home, and I won't be drinking it. The mango sticky rice was just as bad: it was dry, not sweet at all, and the rice looked and smelled like it had been sitting in a rice cooker for too long. On top of that, the portion size was extremely small for the price (almost $10 after tax). To make things worse, I ordered at the kiosk and then had to pay at the register, which wasn't a problem at first--until they couldn't even find my order and I had to reorder. It made me wonder what the point of the kiosk was. I also noticed there were completely different workers (could be because of the day and time I came but I'm not sure that's the reason). I don't understand why, because the previous staff were always pleasant and seemed to really know what they were doing. On top of that, I could see into the back of the kitchen, and it didn't look clean. I'm not sure why they didn't install a proper door to block that area instead of using a small curtain. There were bowls of food covered with plastic wrap sitting right next to the sink behind the cash register, and they were pouring liquids into the sink nearby. It was honestly concerning. Good location right off the freeway in a little strip mall next to the shell station. The food was good, service was a little slower than the usual pho places we stop by. My husband liked the fact the broth wasn't so star anise forward in flavor, it was definitely filling. The banh mi was ok, rhe bread was good, but the filling felt lacking. Also making any adjustments on the banh mi, like asking for no Jalapeños, probably won't happen. The largest jalapeño slices I've ever seen were stuck inside the sandwich itself, but luckily it's an easy fix. If I was looking for something closer to home I'd probably come back. read more

I'm not sure if it was just a name change or if the owners are different but it has changed since it was boiling pho. You order using a tablet on the table which is okay. You have to take turns with it if you have multiple people at the table unless one person is adding everyone's items. I recommended my friend get the rare steak pho which I tried when boiling pho first opened but the presentation was lacking unfortunately. Usually the rare steak is placed on top and you can see the nice color of it before it cooks in the hot broth. I steak was already under the broth and didn't look rare at that point but was still good. They changed the name of the wings too which are still pretty good. The server was a little strange with us when we went to pay and it just feels different than it used to there. It's still good but I don't think I'll be talking about it to people like I used to. read more

Nothing beats BBH from Mien Trung but this bowl was decent. They used the pho meat which was sliced nice and thin. I prefer my broth a little more aromatic and spicier. Service was quick. Sweet girl at the counter came over with an ipad so I can place my order myself. They provide a lunch special that includes 1 appetizer, 1 entree and a drink. I'll probably come back to try that next time. Definitely, this place takes the award for the most disorganized and awful dining experience. I watched multiple people at the counter with these similar bewildered looks with regard to how poor the service was. Several people had asked for refunds and several people just walked out waiting for orders. The guy behind the counter messed up the orders multiple times and also told us that we had messed up because the machine didn't print out a ticket receipt for their kitchen. Their machine was out of paper and flashing red. So we ordered a second time and the guy then messed it up again. After ordering a 3rd time, the orders came out and were incorrect. I will never return. I added a star since they had wonderful fresh garlic at the salad bar. I pray that noone gets food poisoning. We waited almost 30 minutes for pho dishes. read more
