2 carne asada burritos ordered. Came out to under $29 which is not too bad. The burrito is filled with meat albeit little tough but I can see how people might like it. Very little giuac and poco. Also extremely salty. If they cut back on rhe salt and added little more guacamole and pico this place would be legit.

Yall gave me an overcooked ripped open burrito. lol first and last time coming here. Also the driest most plain burrito I've ever had. Holy smokes I expected so much more based off reviews. Very very disappointed.

This is supposed to be a hard shell taco but it was an oily soggy soft taco. Not good

Some of the best Mexican food I've eaten in Escondido. The restaurant is so cute on the inside and the service is spot on!! Ordered, sat down, and was eating within 10 minutes. Love this place. Always a happy customer.

Tiny Adobada Burrito, notice the right side is mostly tortillas too.

I have been coming here for years and often too, but I went back recently and ordered an adobada Burrito. The salsa bar was back which means I could get enough salsa for our food again. They also had an improved roasted red sauce. But when I got home, I found my burrito was tiny. It tasted good but it's like 1/2 the size they used to be, probably even smaller than that. In fact I just finished it and I'm looking for some additional food to eat. I'm not sure if I will try them again, or just start looking for another local place that is decent, there are many in the area, this was just my prefered one in the local area. I know places have raised prices significantly over the last few years, but now the burritos are 1/2 size as well as more expensive. edit: I had to lower my review after getting sick from eating this burrito. I don't think I will go back at this point. My speculation is that they left the meat out or it was not stored at appropriate temperatures, They probably didn't have quite enough to make the full burrito but gave me whatever was left. Too risky to go back again as I have had non fresh meat from them previously, but it wasn't often. I didn't get sick previously though, I could just tell a difference between the meat in my burrito and my wifes carneasada fries and we both agreed that one of them was not freshly cooked like the other. Anyways, It took weeks for my stomach to recover.

Fast and excellent customer service! The food is always great, with generous portions at excellent prices. I've visited this place a few times now, and it never disappoints.

I have eaten in and taken out here before, but it's been a while so I had a refresher visit. Food: I had a grilled chicken taco and shrimp taco. They were both good and good size. $12 for both, I wish they had grilled fish. Food was not too salty, which was a plus for me. Tasted fresh. There were different kinds of salsas and sauces available to flavor the food the way you want. Chips and red salsa if you eat in. The wait for the food was reasonable. Ambiance: Super clean everywhere!! The dining room was good size, well-decorated and welcoming with real flowers on each table! The dining room was a bit dark and "cavy", but the bright decor was bringing it up. The tables were separate enough. A large screen TV was silently playing sports. I could feel the pride of ownership in how they kept this place clean. They use real utensils and plates for eating in. No plastic forks and plates here. It definitely made me feel that this place was more than a takeout joint. Service: The young lady at the counter was nice and friendly. A couple of ladies came around in the dining room, and asked if everything was fine. Very nice touch! This is like a real restaurant for a takeout price! This is a great neighborhood place. I'll be back for sure!

Stayed overnight at Harrah's in Funner, CA and was heading home. On our way home we wanted some authentic Mexican food and decided to try "That Mexican Place" and we were not disappointed. Upon walking into the store, we could smell how fresh it was and the food was just as delicious as it smelled. We ordered the: -Sausage, Egg and Cheese breakfast burrito ($8.65) - really good! Lots of cheese, sausage and egg in good proportions. -Carnitas Burrito ($10.75) - wish there'd been some beans or rice in it, it was literally a ton of carnitas with pico and guac but nevertheless, it tasted delicious! -Two Chicken Enchiladas ($12.45) - not bad, chicken was a little dry but the beans and rice sides were great. Had a family-owned feel with friendly vibes. Will be back if I ever return to Harrah's!

El Bombero minus the carne. Added guacamole.
    Christine T.

Came in to try El Bombero but without the carne asada. Also added guacamole. Basically, it's like a California burrito but with shrimp. It was overall pretty good. The only reason why it lost a star was because the fries felt a little stale. I'm not sure if that was due to the 10-minute ride home or if it was because it was stale. The red hot sauce was decent. Just wish it was a tad bit more spicy. I'll have to try other menu items. Will be back! Will update my review then.

They serve a fair variety of sandwiches and other little items to buy such as coffee and cookies. The location is small with about a total of 5 seating areas including both inside, and out. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no.
