Shortly afterwards I was put into the background process with a private investigator named Stephen Clifford who ran his own investigative firm. I turned in a bunch of documents as requested. About a month later I received a letter from Calaveras HR stating I was no longer being considered. Mr. Clifford did not even conduct any kind of background investigation. He contacted a few references and that was it. I never even fingerprinted for their department yet a complete background was completed. What a shady investigative firm, I believe the Chief hired his personal friend to do the investigative work. Very unprofessional and totally wasted my time. I would not recommend anyone to apply for work in Calaveras county.

After not hearing from then for another hour I decided to text and was told he honked and left because someone was fixing telephone wires. Mind I'm in an Rv park they are fixing wires at the front gate, he had my space number and contact info I never got a call,text, or knock at the door.

I am very disappointed with my experience at Live Oak Veterinary Hospital and would not feel…read morecomfortable recommending this practice based on what happened with my dog Murphy's surgery. We traveled specifically to see Dr. Luce because Murphy had a tumor with suspect cells, and our local vet was unclear on the next steps. During our initial visit, we specifically asked whether Dr. Luce would be performing the recommended surgery, and he confirmed that he would. That was extremely important to us, and he knew it. When we later scheduled the surgery before an upcoming trip, we offered the dates that worked for us. At no point did anyone clearly tell us that choosing one of those dates meant Dr. Luce would not be performing the surgery. Had we been told that, we would have proposed other dates and been flexible. At that time, nothing was more important to us than making sure Murphy's surgery was handled properly. After the surgery, we learned that a different veterinarian had performed the procedure. We had no relationship with that veterinarian, had never met her, and only found out after the fact that Dr. Luce was not involved. For a major surgery involving a tumor with suspect cells, I believe that should have been clearly disclosed before the procedure. What made the situation worse was the response we received afterward. Rather than acknowledging that communication should have been clearer, the response felt dismissive and blamed us for the scheduling. It also included statements we strongly dispute, including the suggestion that our travel plans were more important to us than who performed Murphy's surgery. That is absolutely not how we felt. If we had been told Dr. Luce was unavailable on the proposed dates, we would have adjusted. We also had concerns about the incision closure, including an area with excess skin at one end. In addition, our local vet requested Murphy's records multiple times, and the transfer was very slow. We did eventually receive the records, but not until more than two weeks later. Scheduling issues and miscommunications can happen. What I am most disappointed by is the lack of transparency before the procedure, the poor communication afterward, the delay in records, and the lack of accountability. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending this practice.

I'm not going to because they almost killed my 2 year old kitty and I have LOTS of yelpers reaching out to me that they actually did lose their beloved pets after being in the hands of this balk Clinic. That being said I'm absolutely horrified we were with them as long as we were because you're basically playing Russian Roulette with their lives while they have to undergo a surgery due to MANY things they do not practice. Not only that but they lost all our cats and our dog as a patient because the lady that oddly messaged me and said she was going to help me solve my situation indeed did not. She hounded down and yanked my mom to the side when she was trying to get our kitten her shots in a BUSY BUSY waiting room with the line out the door in the heat and was asking her bizarre questions and begging for her to have me take this down. Why? Because my mom's a sweet woman and she went through just as much pain as I did when malpractice was evident during our kitties general anesthesia double surgery because of their mistake. I'm not taking that down lady even after harassing my mom like that we are so GONE. Also to make matters worse someone that used to work there that now works at another clinic said that the vet on Mono Way is WAY safer and he would never EVER send his animals to this clinic again after what he has seen. And rightfully so. Shame on Dr. Stride and her staff for their losses of perfectly healthy pets lives under THEIR supervision and why? For the all mighty dollar. I genuinely hope people reconsider because we love our animals and this is not the place to trust with them what so ever.

The issues are.. one they won't accept shots given from tractor supply because they didn't witness them given $$, (okayyyyy) 2. there's a whole APPLICATION process! You have to be "accepted" as patients! 3. On top of it, you mention ask for a military discount, the lady with the tattoo on the back of her neck that appears to be running the front end looks at you sideways and says, "well we would have to give the elderly discounts too at that point!" The place had bird poop all over the front entry way on the outside. Make sure you know it will be a "trial appointment" your first visit there to see if you are a good fit for them as patients. 4. They also charge you an administration fee every time you go! Never heard of that before! 5. expect a good wait in the smallish waiting area with your dog. We don't recommend this facility with the gravel parking lot and rude lady upfront. Jasmin was very kind, but the other lady... This place is a bit odd to us & have been to a few veterinary hospitals.

They also gave us a small military discount and found out they offer a senior discount. It was really nice seeing the vet and overall it didn't take long at all and was a smooth transition. It's really nice to find somewhere community driven and positive.
