I have been going to Servatii's my ENTIRE life literally. Haven't been in a few months but went today and purchased Smiley face cookies, a pretzel and coffee cake. Everything tasted like it was made last week and sat in the store for more than that. I have never had anything but delicious from there but I was floored at how horrible everything I purchased was! I would not recommend this location. I needed a dozen cupcakes for a work event and called two weeks in advance and was told I couldn't place the order over the phone at that time. I then went in person a week before I needed the order and was told the person I needed to talk to was not in and the worker could not take my order and I should come back on a different day. I went back again later in the week and was told the same thing. It's ridiculous that a reputable local bakery is not able to fulfill a simple request which I intentionally tried to place in advance. I was up visiting and went in for coffee. The coffee was the best cup since being in Cincinnati that I had, had. They have signs up stating taht EVERYTHING in the store is recorded. I have family that lives in OH but I'm from GA and living in FL. If this is the best bakery OH has to offer...I'm so SORRY! I've been eating Servatii's almond Stollen for two decades and it is always the highlight of our Christmas breakfast. This year, the stollen was different. I don't know if it was overcooked, the type of flour was changed, or if it was too old, as it was very dry and looks different from past years and the pictures online. I hope I got a bad batch as the stollen I bought from Trader Joe's (which is cheaper but usually much inferior) was much better. Please check the quality of the stollens for next year. read more

When I was a kid visiting my Aunt Jo, we used to head for Servatii's for piles of danish, coffee cakes, and delicious challah bread. I still remember this, and I'm really old now. I think my grandpa used to bring my Aunts and my mom here to do the same thing, and it was just something they did. Servatii Pastry Shop and Deli is a perfect spot if you have a sweet tooth! The desserts are delicious and very well priced! I recommend getting the assorted mini desserts (comes out to a little less than $2 each). My personal favorites are the cannolis, German chocolate wedge, and carrot cake. The staff is always friendly and willing to give recommendations for desserts! My review is solely based on my customer service experience. I called to schedule a wedding cake tasting and was told that I could schedule it for a sunday by the young sounding gentleman who answered the phone. I arrived the date I scheduled it for, to be told that they don't do cake tastings on Sundays and that my name wasn't even in the appointment book. I was asked if I booked that location, as though I was the one that made the mistake. Needless to say, I am going with another bakery who can handle the most simple of tasks like booking a cake tasting. I went into servatii about two weeks ago and asked if a onesie cake could be made at this particular location. I was informed from an employee that they were able to make this cake and to come back a week before we needed it to be done. I went in today with a picture of the cake again and asked to place an order. Another employee quickly cut me off and said no. Horrible cx service. We ordered a cake for Father's Day on recommendations from many friends who were experienced Cincinnatians. Not only was the cake beautiful and perfect, it was soooo delicious! Our family almost ate the entire cake, with several people going back for seconds. The cake was a German Chocolate cake with blue and green fondant flowers and said a special message. It was so cute. We also tried a couple of pastries there...an almond sweet pretzel and an iced cinnamon roll. The iced cinnamon roll was to die for. My boyfriend really liked the pretzel...it was more of a crunchy type pastry, which are not my favorite kind, but he definitely enjoyed it. Michele helped us and she was full of energy and brought out samples for us to try. She was GREAT! Overall GREAT experience and pastries. Servatii's is a step above Busken in both quality and price. My family in Indiana demands I bring Servatii cakes for all birthday occasions. And I can verify that before Lent they have the second-best paczki in Cincinnati. And everything else I've had here has been delicious. I'm not a morning bakery buyer, so it's helpful they are open until 6:30PM, unlike some other bakeries. This is the original location, but the atmosphere is really just modern strip mall (which is to say nonexistent). Also, this Hyde Park location is only a bakery. My name is Andrea, and I'm a chocoholic. Which means that Servatii Pastry Shop is right up my alley. I've been there two times looking for something to satisfy my sweet tooth. The first time I went, I asked the girl behind the counter what she would recommend as the best chocolate item on the menu, and without hesitation, she suggested the brownie. It was a fairly large brownie, covered with chocolate icing. It looked decadent enough, but when I tasted it, I was disappointed. Very dry, and not nearly as dense as I like. It just didn't have a lot of chocolate flavor, and sadly, after a couple bites, it ended up in the trash. Yesterday, however, was an entirely different experience. I browsed the specialty desserts and pastries, and only after I'd narrowed it down to the Chocolate Dome Sensation and the German Chocolate Wedge did I ask for advice. The woman behind the counter admitted that she hadn't tried either one (what self-control she must have!!), but gave me a book filled with the descriptions. As soon as I read: "Rich chocolate truffle cream on a dark chocolate crunch wafer," I was sold on the Chocolate Dome Sensation. The "milk chocolate heath truffle center" was just an added bonus. It was ridiculously rich, but I loved every single bite. Definitely not something I'll be able to eat on a regular basis, but when I need a pick-me-up or want to treat myself to something special, Servatii will be a stop on my drive home. read more

Bought cookies, cannoli, and eclairs. I didn't mean to buy the cookies, but they looked so good I couldn't help myself. Everything was a bit of heaven. The cream in the eclairs was fresh, light, cool, and custardy goodness. The cannoli was delicate and packed full of mocha/chocolate cream. The staff was just as sweet as the desserts. We were having a small going-away thing for a collegue and someone ordered a cake from Servatti, but it wasn't just any cake. It was a white chocolate torte and it was delicious! My mouth is watering a little just thinking about it. This torte was absolutely delicious. Thin layers of cake with white chocolate mousse sandwiched between each one. The very bottom layer had some kind of fruity jam on it. It tasted like apricot. The outside of the cake was artfully decorated with white chocolate curls and had a frosting of some sort, and I think it was whipped cream. It tasted like butter to me, so I just scraped it off and happily enjoyed the rest of my cake. The bad thing about this cake is that I'm sure it's about a thousand calories a slice, but it's nice and rich so just a few bites will likely satisfy you. :-) read more

When throwing a party or catering a lunch, the pretzel sandwich should always be your first choice. When compared to other options it is by far the most affordable, and the quality is great. It is served with plenty of the three varieties of meat, as well as lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard all on the side. A tray of brownies and pasta salad can be added for just a little more cost. Went early on a Sunday morning wanting donuts and because they are high end thought the donuts must be good. They looked stale from the other side of the counter and even asked if they had been made that morning. I was right about the staleness. We bought one plain glazed and a chocolate cream filled. It was the worst donut I've ever had from a bakery and would have been better off going to Kroger for the quality. The cream filling was good but doesn't matter if the donuts stale. Love Servatiis and are frequent customer but had a rude customer service experience today. Purchasing sliced pretzels and the precut bags were out asked to have product sliced. Person behind counter was very rude, apparently customers should know that 12 (NOT 13!) fit in a bag or they are in the complete wrong. Very disappointed with the carrot cake purchased on June 26th for my husband's birthday. It was very, very, very dry. My guess it was around too long. We've had many delicious carrot cakes from Servatti's, so I never expected to get a sub-standard cake. This cake should not have been on the case to be sold. read more

This five star review is because Servatiis bakes the best cakes in town. They do have a few good doughnuts and cookies, but the cake is always a winner. The icing is tasty and the cakes simply decorated. I prefer the white and yellow cake but the chocolate is also very good. I stop in- too much- for their discount cake slices.
