My informed decision to switch from Frontier to Service Electric (SECTV) is thanks to Marilyn's knowledgeable communication skills. She offered me full explanations of download speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 2,000 Mbps. I finally got rid of service Electric! I'm with Xfinity Internet now and I'm getting way faster Internet for cheap. I didn't realize that service Electric was given me 245mb per second that's shit Internet and I'm with Xfinity I'm getting 1000mb per second and it's way faster!!!! Service Electric sucks really bad I'm glad I got rid of them thank God my PS5 and Xbox series X is running much faster and downloading games faster too. Thank God for Xfinity Internet. I have been an SCTV Cable Internet customer for about 3-4 years and have nothing but good things to say about it's performance, reliability, speed, equipment, and customer service. The setup was easy and we got the equipment we needed with no problems. (We decided to rent the modem router, not purchase our own. The cost is very reasonable.) We have had only a handful of outages in those years, and every one of them were very brief. Their pricing is reasonable compared to other companies. I just spoke with their Billing department to make a change to our account. I got a real human being very quickly. She verified my account and made the change while we were talking, and was very professional and helpful. read more

If there's any way to make watching cable tv more difficult, Service Electric will find it! First of all my community will only allow Service Electric cable to our homes. They are the most expensive service in our area. Now they made the cable guide so confusing with 2 of every channel listed in sequence. One is SD and the next is HD! Example channel 02 was SD and channel 502 was HD. Easy to figure out. Now there is 02 and 02 next to each other on the listings. You have to look for the little SD or HD in the listing. I'll probably do away with all cable and cut the cord. read more

Connection is spotty. Customer service is awful. Online account is blocked when account is late. You must call to talk about your bill. That takes about 45 minutes. Representatives are rude. Cut you off, and don't listen to you. A "Supervisor" was supposed to call me back. Never did. Needed WiFi turned on for a school day, and they wouldn't budge. To say that service is their weak point is like saying the Grand Canyon is a hole made by some dribbled water. They are probably the only choice where I am... but I am not sending them money either... instead they have a modem in a remote location that is showing an error status - and it will be months before I take the time to go up and bother with it. All that time - I will have their modem and they will be getting no money. The best part is that when I have time to go up - I will be taking several cell phones to see if anybody has a sufficient signal to let me kick these losers to the curb in exchange for a cell hotspot... I do have a recommendation - have some way to contact you aside from the support queue. There is no path to management, and so therefore - when you are frustrated, cancelling is your only remedy. read more

I've been a SECTV customer for 30 years at my present address and the service hasn't aways been the best, cable always goes out and internet hasn't been great , even with the boosters. Back in September I had no internet service and called customer service and they sent a tech out and decided I needed a new line run underground from the service into my house. My driveway is about 200 ft. long and everything is run at the same spot along my driveway out to the street. PA One Call was notified. When they trenched for the new cable line they hit my Electrical line to my post lamp and near the underground electrical box. I had to pay an electrical to search for the cut to the tune of $900.00 Then to add on to this I had to replace the underground junction box to a total of $1300.00. Their customer service is terrible and the field supervisor was nasty acting like I was lying and ask me to send him the bill; which was fully documented as to where the break in the line was and why. After I sent the bill a customer service representative called and asked if I paid the electrician and I said yes. They turned it into their insurance and the claim representative was even more rude. My home owner insurance company's legal department is going after them and their insurance company. I was only asking for the $900.00, but now am billing them for the full amount. That dollar amount should be nothing for a company their size, but was a large unexpected expense for me. Problem is they have a monopoly in certain service areas and they take advantage of that. The price keeps going up and you get less for the money you're paying. Disgraceful!!!! read more

Cable electric just replaced our original tvo box with new boxes. They are awful. A lot of the time I am watching a program and get this spinning circle. The sound is off from what is actually being said. Always get a network error code. There are less features. We called and asked for old boxes back and they said they are not available read more

Their prices are a little too expensive for the capabilities of their services unfortunately for me it was the only thing available in my area so I gotta work with what I have I would say the Wi-Fi quality was maybe a 6 out of 10 on speed and reliability and their customer service was about a 5 out of 10, but overall the biggest hit is the pricing I feel like they're overpriced for the QOS. read more

First thing is my location is incorrect for some odd reason I'm in Ashland PA but on to the review. This horrible trash of a company for the past year has been telling people in my town that the internet connection is completely fine and no issues, that is completely incorrect when everyone's (people that use Service Electric not Verizon) internet has been cutting out this past year but for the years before that it was all fine they just seem to not want to do there jobs at all. Very cocky and unsatisfactory customer service. Borderline hostile. Not enough local competition yet. I have been a customer for at least 20 years (both home and business accounts). I recently upgraded my two units to the new tivo units and was told that there were 4 other old units active on my account (that I no longer have). I explained that they were taken off the last time I upgraded (6 years ago) but customer service refused to accept that they might have made a mistake and blamed me instead. They charged me $400 bucks for those 'missing' antiques. If there was another company available I would run to them. read more

The service and capabilities for SEC are bad based on the amount they charge. At least if they charged 1/2 of what they do it might match but would still be frustrated with reliability- and this is after having both Verizon and Comcast (this is saying something). Live in the southern part of their Birdsboro district- boxes are searching for signal on plume everyday since we started service. Out of service q 2 weeks without disruption of power- although many times they say its due to power outages in other locations. All outages have been greater than 3 hours with some times being better part of the week. Same story as most- only service available. Feel horrible for other parts of the country and their service- I live in the richest county in Pa and still this level of reliability.... yikes. read more

Edit 07/2021 Still kinda iffy about 3 or 4 stars. Some time ago, SECTV did some upgrades so that we finally have true high speed internet here. Sort of. The speed maxes out around 830Mbs. I still say that their technicians are the best. We did have an outage last week, but with all of these storms that have been rolling through, I am grateful on a daily basis that power isn't going out. The only issues I have with SECTV are that I pay for 1G speed but don't really get that speed (yes, I know that Gb speed really only nets you 940M normally anyway), and the price. If Fios were available in my area, the price for 1G internet would be literally half of what SECTV charges. FYI... I do not have TV nor phone with them. My only service is internet, so that's the only thing I can base my review upon. I have no problems with their customer service, and the field technicians are awesome. Oh, and the credit card surcharge is still something that irritates me. I work with companies that provide discounts to their customers for paying by credit card, and here is SECTV basically charging you for it. read more

I moved from the residence abruptly due to a 'criminal act'. I closed the account and left. After (2) years-yes (2) years, I received a bill for non return of the boxes. I called and advised them, I was not advised the boxes should be returned and asked why was I never billed. I spoke with several reps who were extremely rude and stated a 'hold' was placed on the account and the account was never closed. My mother called and she spoke with the supervisor Courtney who had no empathy---she continuously spoke over my mother and stated they could not lower the account and the phone call recordings were no longer available to proof my daughter closed the account. My mother then said 'can we work and pay a lower rate' since we thought the account was closed-we NEVER received a bill or a phone call. Courtney rudely stating 'Make payments' but it has to be paid in full within $30 days!! What kind of business is this?? It's a total scam to not contact a customer over 2 years.. The new TiVo system is junk. Many of the convenient features have been replaced by a cumbersome, difficult to navigate system. This is a wireless system so many times shows are interrupted with "circling" while the system catches up. Existing customers should avoid an "upgrade" as long as you can. New customers should look for another provider. The only winner here is Service Electric with a cheaper, easier to install system. read more

Back in good graces...after some extreme fees, fines, charges, and a lot of back and forth, someone at SECTV took the time to make things right, and forgave some sketchy "lost" equipment charges.   There have been many years of good service (probably 30+) and an overall positive experience with some glitches in service along the way, and a few ill trained employees. But in the long run, SECTV came through for us.  Kudos to this company for digging in, doing the right thing, and helping out my mom with her issues. read more

Never have a problem with the service guys, in fact, usually better than others. But as a company, they use a decade-outdated user interface. Still cant seem to figure out how to implement automatic bill payment without having the customer jump through hoops and send in voided checks by mail. Website updates over the past month are purely cosmetic so far, and because i couldnt pay my bill the last two times i logged in, im receiving warning notices of service shutoff by mail. They have looked into the situation and the only thing they tell me is that I have to rent a WiFi range extender THROUGH THEM for $15/month to make my internet speed work at the range that it's actually supposed to. I work from home as does my husband and the fact that the two of us can't be on the internet at the same time to work is simply mind blowing. I'm even more annoyed because while I would change service providers to almost anyone else, I DON'T EVEN HAVE THAT OPTION. Service Electric is the only service provider made available to me. Also, they need to stop labeling their company as "High Speed Internet Provider" because that is an outright lie. I pay $100+/month for their 100 Mbps internet. If it was even possible to get different internet I could pay $40 at Comcast for the same speed, $40 at Verizon Fios for 200 Mbps or $45 at RCN for 250 Mbps. This company is a complete ripoff and scam. I also had to call again this past Sunday as our internet yet again, slowed to less than a crawl (15 mbps download; 0 mbps upload) and we were unable to even stream YouTubeTV. I got a hold of someone at PenTelData and was promised a phone call back from Service Electric. Here we are on Thursday, still waiting for that call. read more

Walmart and Amazon sell antennas get the ones that have a long range (Amazon unit Monzeen 288 channels per there internet add$19.99 works inside) check this out. Then you can tell Service Electric to kiss off. Cable companies are loosing customers in a BIG BIG way so let's keep there loosing ways up. Please call your state senators and Congress representatives and ask them to Regulate this industry as you may or may not know there is NO REGULATIONS so they can charge any prices they want and this is way the prices are so HIGH. read more

BEWARE: YOUR PAYMENTS WILL ALWAYS INCREASE OVER TIME. YOU ARE BETTER OFF WITH ANY OTHER PROVIDER. (to note: I cannot choose another provider in my apt. building so I cannot escape, but you can!!!) Started out paying under $35 for the cheapest internet plan I could get (10mbps/2mbps) ... i now pay over 40$ for the same plan. Meanwhile the lowest price internet plan they offer is now 25mbps/5mbps at $39.99. So in a nutshell I'm paying more than the same price for LESS THAN HALF the internet speed of their current "lowest priced internet plan" Can you say scamming???? My recent payment increase was because I am "renting the modem". Never had to pay for that before, and for good reason because I am paying for the internet service. But now it is a brand new $2/month extra fee. Most likely going to call them back and see if I can't get my internet speed increased since I'm paying the same damn price anyway. read more
