I have had their service for only 25 hours. And have been disconnected 3 times. Unable to watch live TV. Had to use my personal Fire Stick to get any sort of shows to watch. In this area, they are only the service with decent quality, including the major companies like ATT and T-Mobile, because they understand the local infrastructure. I have used their WiFi Service for nine months continuously without a single outage, which is fantastic reliability. Customer service has always been prompt and polite and has actual human beings to talk with. They do not try to sell you deals that only last 12 months before the price doubles, like Fios. Service Electric Cablevision is one of those monopolies that customers wish didn't exist. There are multiple different Service Electrics to cause confusion, but this is the company with locations in Birdsboro, Danville, Hazleton, Mahanoy City, and Sunbury. First, the company does not have the resources (money) to compete with the larger cable companies such as Comcast or Time Warner. If you are looking for the latest and greatest, sign up to Direct TV or Dish. Customer complaints for basic channels such as The Comcast Network, that took years to get, often go unanswered. People missed many Phillies games over the years due to this lack of resources. The company's greatest weakness is with the internet packages. Welcome to the world of high prices and low speeds compared to many of their competitors. As customers there is very little we can do about it, Verizon DSL is weak in the area and FIOS will never happen. As a surprise they also have bandwidth caps, meaning you can only download and use your internet so much per month. Cut the cable and only have Netflix? Better not watch more than 2 movies a day or you'll get a threatening letter! Previously, they only had metered bandwidth at certain hours (5 p.m. - 1 a.m.), but that has been changed. Be prepared to pay if you look into business accounts from PTD instead, they are expensive. If you need any service or activations after normal hours (4:30-5:00 pm)...good luck. I've had a situation where they cannot activate a new modem after normal hours, so get ready to take time off of work to get any major changes done. Equipment rentals are also fun, Digital Transport Adapters are one of the greatest schemes I've seen I.E. "encryption." Prices also continue to rise, so I'm glad we now have Golf Channel and Lifetime Movie Network, about the two most useless channels imaginable. Prior to 2007, Service Electric Cablevision would not install Cable to the area where I live due to the lack of customers. I am much happier with it, but many problems exist compared to 2007 when we first had it installed. Is it better than nothing? Sadly yes...sadly. I feel for the college students at Bloomsburg University or people new to the area, as Service Electrics low quality must be a great shock to them after coming from areas with Comcast or Time Warner. Three miles outside of town off a main road and you can't get cable or internet? Hell of a welcome to Northeast Pennsylvania. If another competitive provider ever came to the area such as Verizon FIOS, I would give Service Electric Cablevision six months at best as the exodus of customers leaving would be astounding. read more

I only have internet with them. I don't watch much TV so really no need to have the cable. The internet service is fine. It is much faster than Verizon's service in this area. Plus I seemed to have trouble with Verizon at least once a month. No internet problems here. I had to scan and email a copy of my lease before I could get service. I had no problems with this. I have been trying to reach their service representative over a two day period for several hours. The word "service" in their name is a misnomer. I cannot reach anyone in the service department...I doubt they have any person working there. You remain on the phone for hours after following a menu, or else get a callback phone message, and then you start all over. I'm cancelling my connection with this place. read more

I had THE BEST service from a phone Service Electric Cablevision rep named Teresa! We were having problems with the digital cable box on our tv. None of the channel info was showing. My husband called a few weeks ago and was told no one could come out due to the pandemic-understandble, but I wish they would have done more then. However, when I called to check on the matter, Teresa was able to reset the box from her location. She guided me through the process on my end and everything is now working. Thanks Teresa! read more

Absolutely horrible. Zero loyalty to customers and will charge you for fees without any explanation. Additionally, their internet speed is intermittent at best, then when asked about it, they say there is nothing they can do except push their network extenders on the customer for an additional fee. Every customer service associate I've spoken to has "apologized" for their inability to help and not being able to do anything about their frivolous charges. DO NOT use their services. read more

I have had this service since October 2019, its June 2020, and I am on my second modem, have called at least a dozen times, and I STILL don't get the 200mbps that I pay for! Never been offered a refund for the money I'm wasting on this horrible service either! Go anywhere else! DO NOT USE! I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way, but the new TV Guide is horrible!! I can't read it from my desk, as the letters are way too small, and they're too close together, as well. I used to be able to sit back and scroll thru the guide with ease, but now, well...now I just leave it on one channel. It's so ridiculous! What was wrong with the old TV Guide we had?? Nothing, that's what!! I could never understand why people feel the need to "fix" or "upgrade" something that isn't broken? Is it boredom? Or maybe they just like getting people riled up just to see what happens? I don't know, but it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted a change, like a survey or something. We never even got a warning. Just sitting there watching tv, and it shuts off. Poof!! And when it finally came back on, the guide is changed, and for the worse!! Hate it, hate it, hate it! And while I'm here, I might as well ask what's up with the weather channel lately? Thru every single program there is a skipping of any sound every few minutes or so. VERY ANNOYING to say the least!! Horrible horrible "service!!!!!" Signed up for internet and problems since they installed. Poor speed. Buffering. 1st tech said I should have no problem with internet in house over 3K sq feet..lots of problems. Next tech said router was piece of crap and I should buy my own?!!!!! Had another tech come back..same guy and he still tells me the router is crap. Decided to get ladder and says he doesn't know what's going..Call ask third time and yes, same guy shows up. I call customer service while he is in my home and complain because he's berating me in my own home because I didn't buy the router he suggested?????? Already paying $119 for 200speed. ONLY getting under 7!!!!!!! Complain and demand I speak to supervisor. Greg??? says I shouldn't expect 200 speed on laptop, "just never going to happen!" Says I should educate myself..babbles on about what he's learned in this field..blah blah blah. Signed up for two months free in beginning of Dec. Says they will look into that offer. The absolute worst cable provider I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with! Terrible quality, poor equipment, lousy technicians, and disrespectful office personnel are among the top reasons I give SECV a one star rating. Believe me, if it were possible, I would give them a negative one star! When (not if) you need service, expect to get ran around like a racetrack. When (not if) your DVR cable box fails and deletes all of your recordings, they will give you bullshit lines like, "It had a virus," or "you had a bad HDMI cable." And when it comes to the billing, well, I would like to think the Three Stooges could get it right before these baboons! They will try to bill you for cable boxes you don't even have! For months they have been trying to bill me for 7 cable boxes, which is interesting since we only have 5 TVs in the house! I am so glad we will be moving in a few months, and when we do, I am going to take the advise I give everyone else that moves into our area, and that is: "Get Directv or Dish.
