I previously posted about a negative experience I had with the installation of a whole house humidifier. Shortly after posting I was contacted by the management and they took full accountability for what transpired. They explained the challenges they had with the job and offered to come back and do the necessary repairs at their expense. It has been a few days since the repair and I am happy to report that everything now seems to be working fine. I greatly appreciate the way this was handled by Service First- they made it right and there's not much more a customer can ask for. I am now very satisfied and feel confident that I can contact Service First if there are any additional issues. read more

Great service, I have been using Service First for about 4 years now and I am very pleased. They are careful, and respectful of your home. I needed a service visit after hours as my heater stopped working at around 9pm. The service person Jim D. came to my home within 40 minutes after he called me. He was there for about an hour and left with the heater working just fine. Jim informed of the issue that caused it to stop. I am happy I had a service contract because I am sure the fee for that visit would have been a lot more. read more

Service First Heating and Air Conditioning has always had great service and great staff! We have had them for about a year and a half with a service contract and have not been disappointed. Where do I begin! I called for emergency heating problem Thanksgiving day. They told me there is an emergency flat rate for after hrs. & holiday ($279.00). A little over the top but I accepted that because I had no choice, I was expecting people for the holiday dinner, and I have a disabled son in the home. Never would I have expected an additional $476.61 for just under an hr. worth of work for a thermostat that he could not completely connect the wire, so I had to stay on battery power. Later, after looking up the cost of the thermostat, I discovered I could purchase it for anywhere between $43. - $75. Even with the company upcharge the thermostat & labor should not have been an additional $476.61 coming to a total of $755.61. Later when I was able to prosses what I paid in a pinch I felt I was gouged. 1st I called the office to discuss the bill and was met with negativity and was told I would get no explanation on the backdown of the bill. I decided to email the president of the company to possibly go over the bill and see if anything could be done. I was contacted by an assistant instead of the president who proceeded to tell me I needed to take the techs travel time into consideration...WHAT???... I was not told that in advance. What the Hell is the after hrs. emergency flat rate for??? Being a woman, I feel that I was taken advantage of! I got no satisfaction and no validation. No even a good faith refund. Not to mention this was a complete embarrassment to the person who recommended this company to me. read more

The usual Bucks County company that looks to your wallet before looking at the HVAC. I called them sometimes in December to get quotes on HVAC maintenance. The quotes were the same as Christian HVAC gives, but at least they included filters, so far so good. I decided to give them a try on a single furnace cleaning job. The guy comes in and tests some electrical cables. He tells me the burners are rusty and the ignition is inconsistent. He starts to scare me that this is not safe and may need to turn off the gas. He does not do any cleaning of the furnace, no removal of burners or anything, because in his opinion it was not worth it, or they could break when he removed. I let him talk with his boss and he switched off the gas (remember, middle of winter with snow storms). I pay him in cash plus some tip. The next day he follows up all happy with three quotes for new furnaces. Starting price ~$5,600 for a crappy single stage furnace, and top price ~$8,500 for a two stage furnace with variable speed blower )all Trane brand). He also came to my house a second time, this time as a salesman. He never checked the rest of the system, never put the head outside to check the heat pump for compatibility, never checked the rest of the house to see if the size of the furnace was appropriate. Just sat on a couch and had some good time, like a tired tech turned salesman. I started to get quotes from other companies down in Philly, and guess what, they were much much lower. I changed a little later to a Carrier Performance 59tp6 (two stage burning with variable speed blower) for $4,000, half of what Service First wanted to pitch me. But the story continues. I decide to give Service First another try to do maintenance on my systems (I have two furnaces and two heat pumps). I call them and I ask if they are interested in setting up a maintenance program with a minor discount since the tech did not do the whole cleaning job the first time. They took their time to think about it and called the next day. Apparently Brian, the owner, said that I had not paid anything the first time. I explained that I had paid the tech in cash and left tip. They didn't know what to say, but they promised they would follow up the day after. Since then, I have never received a phone call. This is why my conclusion is that, after contacting many Bucks County companies, I can spot these typical companies much better. They rely on the fact that Bucks County has higher income families usually, so they pitch much higher prices that companies in Philly do. They usually will state that their service is great. They may even lie to you that they are an exclusive Trane dealer and Trane does not allow them to install other furnaces (that's what I was told) but they lie through their teeth. None of the furnace brands force HVAC companies to use only their brand. I can tell you this because I talked with multiple companies, and I installed my Carrier furnace with an official Carrier installer listed on the Carrier webpage, and they also confirmed that there is no exclusivity to furnace brands. Stay away from these people and do not trust easily good reviews. People may be happy of their choice when they don't do their job of looking for alternative quotes, but Service First is just typical Bucks County company that costs double the price of companies that can come from Philly to do the same job. read more

Can't say enough about Service First! I called at 4:30 PM with an air conditioning emergency on a 94-degree day. The service tech, Roman arrived within 20 minutes and was able to resolve the issue. He was thorough and assured me the problem was fixed. Roman checked the filters and the entire system, inside and outside the house. It was a very hot steamy night and the central air stopped working. Panic ensued, looks like we have to stay at a hotel tonight. I called my usual HVAC company along with a couple others in my area and no one was available until the next day. One company called me back and realized the difficult situation I was in, Roman from Service First Heating and Air Conditioning. It was about midnight and Roman came over in about a half hour and diagnosed the problem quickly. This is for sure my go to company for all my future HAVC needs, highly recommended. read more

I had been a long-time customer of another group who could not fix my A/C problem after almost 2 weeks and multiple visits including multiple delays. Service First installed a new Trane heat pump in early April. It began to malfunction in late June, tripping the circuit breaker repeatedly. The technician decided that the unit needed to be replaced as it was obviously under warranty. As with many appliances and autos today, no replacement was available from Trane in spite of Sandie's best efforts. The technician tried to install a device to help the unit remain on during the recent very hot weather and it did help until the unit died.. The company offered to replace the condenser to at least make the unit function and that was done today. I give Service First a five star rating because I believe they did the best they could do under difficult circumstances. The faulty Trane unit was not their fault and they did the best they could to return our house to a comfortable temperature. We appreciate the extra effort to make things right. read more
