They called an hvac company out of the phone book who didn't send a technician, but a slick salesman instead. This guy convinced them to sign a contract for a $17,000.00 new AC system. After they signed the contract he told them they'd have to wait three days for the system to arrive and be installed. They called me very upset and concerned. I cancelled the contract with the phone book guys and called Mike from Qualitech. Qualitec diagnosed the problem, went to a local supply house for a new fan motor and installed installed it all in the same day. LIFE SAVERS! My parents wouldn't have lasted one night, let alone three nights in August 100 degree, 100% humidity. Thank you so much Qualitec!!!

She made sure I was aware of the special they were running and assured me there would not be any surprise fees. The technician was on-time, extremely professional, friendly and took extra time to explain things in detail and trouble shoot things with us. We were perplexed as to why our electric bill was so high given that this is a 2 year old unit. He truly went above and beyond and probably spent way more time than is allotted for a routine service with us to figure out the problem - turns out the high density air filter we were using was causing the unit to work much harder than it should without moving much air - never would have figured this out without his help. And, as promised, we were only charged the quoted service fee special. Will not call anyone else for service or maintenance for anything heating or cooling related!

And happily they weren't. Throughout the whole process, from quote to installation, Bill was informative, friendly, neat, and professional. He took pride in his work and genuinely appreciated being able to be of service. He even went above and beyond and replaced a busted vent he noticed on our clothes dryer. I'm looking forward to a warm garage come next winter and will be calling on Bill for any future heating and A/C needs.

The pilot light wouldn't stay lit. He worked his way from all the obvious and inexpensive fixes and only got to the more more expensive ones when the simple fixes didn't work. He communicates very well -- he told me what he tried and what was next as he went. I ended up needing a new gas valve and pilot assembly. In my 20 years here, I have never seen my pilot so strong. I'm very pleased with his work. He also helped get my potbelly stove with a gas assembly working again and had some helpful thoughts for how to make it retain more heat.

I had the fill valve purchased new from Home Depot as I thought it would save me money to have my own new part. I also had the bidet wand. As is typical for some companies today there was a charge to come out--not to be applied towards my bill. The young man came in to see what the work was and then out to the truck to call the office on pricing. I told him/showed him, the fill valve I had purchased. He told me they will not use customer provided parts. I asked him to ask the office again about this policy , he did, and nothing changed. His pricing for these 3 jobs was over $900. I told him I wanted parts and labor to be itemized. Answer was 'we don't do that', 'we have flat fee pricing'. Between the cost and their refusal to use the new part I bought, I told him to only handle the fill valve part of the job however I insisted on an invoice with parts and labor itemized. Again, they refused to do so. I called the office to speak to the service manager, and he again refused to comply with my request, again repeated the flat fee pricing. In the end I got no-where. I asked to see the box the new fill valve came in--no surprise--same company part as what I had purchased. Cost for the 11 minutes max it took him to replace the part? $373.12 to include the $79. arrival charge. Did not get an itemized bill. What are they hiding? Knowing cost of parts and cost of labor is a routine and reasonable request of a customer, and many companies automatically provide this information without being asked. Addendum: I had the other 2 parts of the initial job completed by another company for $265.00 and automatically received an itemized bill. Note that even combining the two companies charges, the total is not close to exceeding $900 which Hirschberg quoted when they job costed initially.

He also tried to get me to fix the clogged Shower drain...using the same embellishment scare tactics. Said it would cost $2300!! I got a new plumber to do it for $300 the next day. It was a very simple fix. He cut the floor open and replaced the clogged "Trap". It took a combined 30 minutes. After my original review Joe put my name, profession and ADDRESS in his response which was deleted by Yelp after I flagged it. Dirty. Then he sent me a message calling me a "Fat Overweight Slob". Classless. My Profession and where i live has NOTHING to do with our dispute...And it's a violation of my rights and Yelp's guidelines. As I mentioned in my original post, this was my fault too since they did provide price up front. Will I choose them to do my job next time? Maybe. However I would definitely do some research first if time permits. The new heater is really quiet and I am happy about that. Another point I want to raise is that the plumber did a good job on installation but not the clean-up part. My wife and I spent almost an hour to clean up staircase and basement last night and we also found out there was some new dents on stairs.
