They diagnosed the issue and recommended replacing the chase cover. Based on their expert recommendation, we paid them $2,625 for the replacement. Unfortunately, during a heavy rainfall in early July, the exact same leak returned. We called the company back, and they sent out the same technician. During this second visit, he performed a water isolation test between the siding and shingles. This test successfully proved the leak was coming from that specific area, which I have documented in the attached photos. Looking at the documentation they provided me, a clear contradiction stands out: *First Report: Listed the flashing condition as "Fair" and recommended the $2,625 chase cover. *Second Report: Listed the exact same flashing as "Poor" and resulted in a new quote of $7,100 to fix the actual source of the leak. Because we paid thousands of dollars based on an initial inspection that failed to resolve the issue, I am in the process of filing a formal complaint with the Kansas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. I highly recommend potential customers carefully review my attached, redacted inspection reports and photos before hiring this company. I have attached pictures of the reports and quotes on google. Let me be perfectly clear: attempting to deflect accountability by implying a communication disconnect between my husband and me does not alter the physical evidence, your own written reports, or the signed contract. You have explicitly confirmed our case in your own email. You stated: "Our repair technician noticed that once the chase cover was removed, he was able to see from the inside of the chimney that the flashing showed signs of allowing water in." If your repair crew saw active flashing leaks and visible wood rot while the chase cover was off, re-assembling the chimney, taking our $2,625.38, and leaving our home to suffer structural water damage for another two months is the absolute definition of a negligent repair. Furthermore, our signed contract explicitly mandated: "While the chase cover is off, we will inspect the areas we can see around the roofline and flashing for water entry." Your team completely failed that contractual obligation. If they performed a proper inspection as promised, work should have been halted the moment the old cover was removed and the rot was visible. Instead, your company chose to finish an ineffective repair, collect our money, and wait until July to present an outrageous $7,100.85 upsell to fix the actual issue. Pointing to boilerplate fine print about a "1% surface area" to excuse an aggregate failure to stop the leak we hired you to fix is completely unacceptable. We were given a window of 6:30-8:30 pm for the technician to arrive. We weren't told that we had to respond immediately to the text that the technician was on the way. I responded four minutes after getting the text, and the window had closed. As a result, we had to wait until the next morning for service. This wasn't the end of the world, certainly; but that's the one thing I would recommend to Roto Rooter -- tell the customer to look out for the text from dispatch and respond immediately. All in all, we were very happy with the customer service, the dispatcher, and the technician.

The difference is amazing--it looks like new again! They even reminded me several times that my socks would be damp (not wet) and to be careful walking on my kitchen floor. Take for instance, a 3-year-old in a 2nd floor bathroom with plenty of toilet paper and a toilet that will not stop running. The power of water is an awesome sight to behold, but when it comes dripping and pouring through your 1st floor ceiling, your shock and awe tends to belong more to the panic variety than wonder and amazement. For those of you who have not had this life experience, I offer these sage bits of experiential wisdom: 1) don't panic, 2) shut off the water, 3) get towels and mops, 4) call a plumber, 5) pray (can't hurt), and 6) call Power Dry. My family was the victim of just such an incident this past week, and needless to say you do feel rather helpless and worried when you see an upstairs bathroom turn into a sequel of "A River Runs Through It". Sooner rather than later, you are going to want to call professionals who can get to scene and help alleviate the moisture problem, for fear of mold setting in. That's where Power Dry comes in. We were fortunate enough to be home when this happened, so the damage was contained fairly readily. Our insurance agent (State Farm) recommended Power Dry, as they were a preferred provider for these types of situations. Although our guys were way over in Missouri on another case at the time we called, they got to our house as quick as possible and were able to start hooking up industrial blowers and dehumidifiers relatively quickly. The whole process probably took just under an hour. They were very methodical and certainly gave the impression that they had seen these situations many times before and knew what to do. The sound of several blowers and dehumidifers can be rather disturbing ... sort of like living on the tarmack at KCI. But you do what you have to do. After 48 hours, they were able to come back and take most of the equipment out, and another 48 hours later we were cleared to have all of the remaining equipment removed. The guys who provided service to us were friendly, knowledgable, and even dealt well with our excited 3-year-old daughter. I don't recommend going out of your way to try and find an excuse to get the Power Dry folks over to your domicile anytime in the foreseeable future, but if you need them, they are a great bunch of guys and ladies to have on your side in a tough situtation. Based on that, we hired their restoration department to put our home back together. That was a massive mistake. The restoration process was extremely disorganized. We were promised a project manager to oversee everything, but we had a revolving door of different people. We effectively had to act as our own general contractors, communicating constantly just to ensure the work got done. After the work was finished, the refinished floorboards started lifting. Power Dry dragged their feet for months before coming to look at it, and then completely refused to fix it. They blamed the issue on the 'humidity' in our home--an absurd excuse considering we have lived in this house for 14 years without ever having this issue before. Because they refused to stand behind their work, we withheld our final payment until the floor was fixed. Instead of working with us, they placed a lien on our house. We had to hire an entirely different contractor to fix Power Dry's mistakes. We offered to pay Power Dry the remaining balance minus what we paid another contractor to fix the problem. We ultimately had to hire an attorney to get the situation settled and the lien removed from our property. If you have a flood, their mitigation team is fine. But I would strongly advise against ever using their restoration department.

I had someone on my roof who was screening off areas where critters could access our attic and they told me that flat roof needed to be replaced, sooner than later. I contacted several companies recommended by people on the Nextdoor app. One company came out to give me a quote but never returned my calls. Another company told me they were only doing roof replacements. I appreciated their honesty. I was very specific when I called roofing companies; I didn't need a new roof. One guy came out and told me he could contact my insurance company and tell them my roof had been damaged from a storm. We'd not had any damage to our roof from storms and that's bordering on insurance fraud. I decided to check out Yelp recommendations and saw that Easton had a lot of good reviews. When I called, they were very nice and told me they'd send someone out. The guys from Easton were there on time and they gave me an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable so I called to schedule the repair. The workers were very nice, professional, timely and they were there everyday until it was finished. They cleaned up after the repair so I wasn't finding random pieces of roofing material. Everyone, from the woman who answered the phone to the guys who did the repair was very nice and the whole process was seamless. Easton completed the repair and after years of checking ceilings, I can finally relax. Another contractor I'd used to remodel our house often needed access to the roof. I didn't ask him to check the flat roof but while he was up there, he wanted to check it out. He assured me they'd done a very good job and then asked for their info so he'd have the name of a good roofing company if one of his clients was looking to replace their roof. When an outstanding contractor is impressed with the work done by another company and asking for the company's info, that says a lot. If we have to replace our roof, we'll definitely use Easton and if anyone needs a roof replacement or repair, I highly recommend them. They've earned those 5 star reviews.

He came out, reviewed the issue, ascertained that the leak was likely due to flashing issues around vent pipes, and said he would send out his best worker to fix the problem the following week. After one additional follow up call (the following week turned into a week and a half), the roofer came out and fixed the problem. (We hope.) I'm still not impressed with how long it took to get in touch with Gentry. Their answering service has very nice people working for it, but they're basically useless when it comes to scheduling. They need to work on that. I also didn't enjoy having to get the former contractor involved. I'm not interested in working with them again, and every time I contact them for any reason, they want to know when we're going to be updating our kitchen. ::sigh:: But, hopefully, our roof has been fixed. Original review: Gentry installed our new DaVinci Bellaforte Shake 50 yr tiles back in 2012. Great product, seemingly great company...we were very happy with their work and product. However, here we are in 2017, and we have a leak. We discovered it a couple of weeks ago after several rounds of heavy rain in the Kansas City area in early/mid August. I contacted Gentry immediately, the day we discovered the leak, which was Tuesday, August 22nd. I left a message with their delightful receptionist, Edna, and waited to hear back. Friday, August 25th, I followed up with a phone call to John Howard's cell number that I have, and had to leave another message. I still hadn't heard back by Tuesday, Aug 29th, so I contacted Edna at the office again. She took my information, said she would make a note that this was my 2nd time calling (I told her technically it was the 3rd, since I'd left a message on John's cell the previous Friday), and apologized for the delay in someone getting back to me. It is now Saturday, Sept 9th. I left another message with what sounded like an answering service on Weds, Sep 6th, and also tried reaching John again via his cell phone on Thursday, Sep 7th, hoping that due to the earlier hour, I might be able to catch him before he got busy during the day. Friday, I left another message with the service, who was apologetic again about my lack of response, but...still no call back. We love our new roof, and the only thing we would do differently is to install clips to help with ice and snow sliding issues at the time of the install of the roof. (Although, to be honest, I don't know if the issue is with the type of product used, or the installation, or what, so maybe I don't love our roof? ::sigh:: ) But at this time, I cannot recommend Gentry Roofing, until I hear back from one of their representatives who can help us with the leak in our roof. I'm worried that, since our 5 year warranty on the "workmanship" is about to expire in October, I'm being ignored due to that. (p.s. my husband and a contractor that we were working with at the time hired Gentry without doing any background checking on them. Their webpage has all of 1 former client "testimonial" on it, and there are literally NO REVIEWS anywhere on the internet about the company. They aren't a member of the BBB, so that's not a route that can be taken to file complaints. It's concerning. If I could go back in time, I would have vetted this company better to find out how they manage issues like the one we're currently dealing with.)

He was straightforward, honest, fairly priced, and did not try to take advantage of our situation. His team was hardworking, skilled, responsive to our requests, and tried their best to prevent damage to the trees and shrubs. The roof looks great, and (so far anyway, after 4 months) there's no leaks or any other reason to call them back. All in all, we're very pleased.
