Ron Carlson himself came to the house and the moment he walked up my driveway I had a gut feeling I found my roofing company. The search was over. Ron did not start with all the sales crap and throwing titles and certifications like GAF Master Elite blah blah blah at me that virtually means nothing. He was friendly, polite but no nonsense. He knows his stuff and could back up why I don't need gutter protectors, why I don't need 6 inch gutters, why I don't need useless "gold" warranties pushed by the roofing companies etc. Quotation was presented two days later, no extra 6.8% credit card charge levied, final bill was what I was quoted. Period. The Carlson team installed a new roof, gutters, soffits, leaders, two new attic fans, ridge vent skylights etc. Their team worked diligently, clean and started each day at 7:00 am and finished at 6 pm. Rich came by to make sure all was good and so did Doug (though I did not meet him). Top notch roofers. No gimmicks, no add ons, no big lawyer written contracts to sign and no hassles. Old school - agree to the job, do it and happily pay. A handshake means something with Carlson Brothers. They took 1/3 deposit upfront and did not take the other 2/3 until the job was done and they were gone. In fact, Denise called up two days later and asked if it's ok to go ahead and charge the balance on my credit card. I can't say enough good things about them all. As to price, extremely fair and they don't upsell you on anything. Ok. Enough said. I am pleased to select them out of 22 roofers I got estimates from and yes you need to do your due diligence because you'll find a lot of people tell you to do things you don't need to do. This company just like most companies in the lawn-care business treat customers with strong distain. They promise far more than the customer ever receives. This company began by agreeing to maintain my sprinkler system. I explained that my system "was" installed by a journeyman that broke off from a company he worked for and began a private company. Unfortunately afterwards it was discovered that he hadn't installed my sprinkler system in the acceptable way of their industry. First time I realized there was a problem was when I had a problem with several of the sprinkler heads. When he came to my home, he began grabbing used sprinkler heads out of a small box that was stored in the back of his small minivan. He told me that he had rebuilt the used heads. Then there was a time when I rented a lawn aeration machine. After I was done and I turned on my sprinkler system, there were a dozen areas that had leaks from the plastic tubing which was not installed far enough below the surface of the lawn. Unfortunately the lawn sprinkler installer had fallen terminally ill. When I began researching sprinkler system companies, Greg Tanzer Sprinkler Company was located on the YELP search site. Even though the site only had a three star rating, I had requested that they come and look my system over with the intention of hiring them. After coming out and reviewing my sprinkler system, they agreed to service and maintain my system. Shortly after I had a problems with sprinkler heads reaching the required areas causing my lawn to have growth issues and flooding in other areas as well as timer issues. The company came out and replaced specific sprinkler heads but charged me for a service call that was explained by claiming the heads were covered but the labor to change them out was not. This was after a contract of over three hundred dollars was paid. When I called to protest the contract agreement, the woman on the line was very nasty and unsympathetic. Another instance of my sprinkler heads not retracting below the ground, the woman who had "no" installation experience merely stated that it was due to one of two components that pump the water but she couldn't explain which one and if after changing one of the two, I would also have to pay for the other pump. Each one costing over three hundred dollars. Another time she blamed the old rain sensor that they never changed out when they took over the system. Another three hundred dollar charge. Each year I asked to split my contract payment due to being retired and the woman gave me a problem. The final straw came when I kept having with the Timer Box losing the settings and once again the woman with zero experience with the system claims that I have to buy another Timer Box. I finally found one of their workers that would work on my system on his free time; however when it was apparently discovered the woman sent another technician out that became enraged and obnoxious, claiming that while discussing the issue accused me of spitting on him (I was at least seven feet away) as well as not speaking a reasonable amount of English. I finally asked him to leave my property and not to return. EVER!

Model = Bradford White High Efficiency Gas Water Heater (250H6n) = 4.4 gallon Thermal expansion tank The initial request for an estimate: We called in the afternoon, Bryan (the owner) came out nice and early the next morning. He gave us a quote "on the spot", no smoke and mirrors or I'll get back to you. Pricing: I bid out the job to several companies and B.Z. was VERY fair and worked with us on all my options. Responded to any/all changes until we reached the actual setup I wanted. Customer Service: Guys were respectful and even had a sense of humor. There was also a mixup with the expansion tank given by the supplier; was smaller than what I ordered. When I noticed and let the guys know; Bryan himself showed up to deliver the correct size tank. He/they didn't choose to try and sell me on why it doesn't matter or any other bs. I truly appreciated the just get it corrected approach Bryan took. The install: Work began the next day after I signed. Clean install, they addressed any code violations and all seems well so far :) We will be using B.Z. again in the future and would recommend them to friends as well. I approached Hoffman at the beginning of March to install a new handrail, newel post, balusters,…read moreand fix a broken step for the primary staircase of my home. Once the work was done, we would have them then install a runner. We were excited to use Hoffman from all of the amazing examples that they shared on social media of staircases and homes they 'claim' to have renovated. The sales team in the store was as you would expect for a boutique mom & pop shop... an air of pretentiousness in a relatively humble environment. After insulting my wife & I by assuming we were looking for a budget-friendly deal, we ultimately were left to search the store and pick out the runner we wanted. After deciding, we scheduled measurements for the following week. As we attempted to leave, the salesperson insisted on following us out into the parking lot to put samples in our trunk, however, I believe this was a further attempt to 'size-up' our budget based on what we drove. Anthony, the third generation in this family-run business, showed up at my house the following week. He was here for approximately 20 minutes, took the measurements, and advised he would be in touch in about a week once all of the materials were in. He advised everything needed to be special ordered. The job was quoted at $4,000. I accepted. One, two, three, then four weeks go by without hearing from Anthony. As it had been a month, I called the store to find out what the cause of the delay was. They advised that the materials were expected to be in at the end of the week, and apologized for the delay. I was completely understandable, as I was just happy to have Hoffman come do the work in the first place. Afterall, the pictures they continued to share on social media looked amazing. I wanted the same in my house. Three more weeks go by, then I get a call from Anthony saying they are ready to start the work. I was thrilled. Anthony's 'team' showed up on a Friday towards the end of April. They demo'd my existing handrail and newel post. As they went to replace the broken step, they realized that Anthony ordered the wrong thickness, and the correct one would have to be special ordered (again). Given that 8 weeks had already passed, and frustrated, I called Anthony and advised rather than ordering 1-custom step, please replace all steps with standard thickness ones. He apologized and advised that the total cost of the project would now be $6,000. This was still well within my budget so we agreed, and the team would be back the following week to continue the work. The team shows up the following week, rips out all of the stairs, and replaces with 'new' ones, and 'finishes' the handrail/newel post. After two coats of stain, Anthony texted me and advised the project was done and we were ready for Carpet. Here's where the story really gets interesting: --Nothing installed was special ordered and is readily available at Home Depot. --Each of the 11 brand-new stairs they installed had scratch marks, pencil marks, or dents. --The newel post had approximately 50 blemishes from improper sanding/staining. --The balusters were installed upside-down! Then corrected via using glue and wood filler to partially cover all of the knicks and holes they just put in the brand-new materials. ---They did not stain the visible undersides of the new steps --They did not stain the backside of the handrail against the wall --Multiple sharp/jagged edges were left exposed --They did not clean-up their worksite, leaving half eaten fruit in my garage. --They used two different types of balusters after they 'fixed' the original mistake. --They did not come with their own sufficient materials and used my personal table saw/miter saw. --I come to discover that the 'team' Anthony sent to my house had not worked for him before, and were effectively unskilled day laborers. --At no point did Anthony ever come to check on the work. Clearly, Anthony/Hoffman contracted this project out, in an attempt to make quick cash off an unsuspecting customer. I called Anthony and told him to come look at the work. Originally, he was very combative and continually corrected the language I was using to describe the work his team did to my house (if the work looks like ..... it probably is). He tried to persuade me to let him come back and try again, but as he already dragged this process on for 2+ months and had his team at my house 5+ times, I was not interested. Given my dissatisfaction and the clear evidence that he had tried to scam me, he fully refunded my deposit and did not charge me for the work. I didn't want to write/post a review but given that Hoffman is still actively advertising their stair 'services', I felt it necessary to share my experience. p.s. the pictures hardly do justice to how poor the work really is.

Tony, Anthony and Ed are very knowledgeable about the products and give realistic picture of how the project will go. They installed our Villa Borehsie flooring on the kitchen/living room level of home during a kitchen remodel. My wife loved for flooring so much that we brought the team back to put the same flooring down in our ground level family room. The install team was great. They worked clean and got the job done in the time that Anthony estimated it would take. I am glad we went with Hoffman floor and home for our flooring needs and expect to see them soon enough when we are ready to do the bedroom level of our home! Thanks guys!
