I would improve the this place by firing the rude bar tender that thought be was an important man and yelled at and totally humiliated my 21 year old daughter this afternoon. We visited for the Halloween parade. My daughter is very shy and took more than 5 secs to say what she wanted to drink. He yelled at her"be ready to order , when you come up here". Then turned to the whole bar and yelled again" be ready to order when you come up here. "Then he walked away to take someone else's order. Ambiance? No ambiance. Rude and obnoxious. read more

The service here is absolutely terrible. The music sucks. If you want to go to a sausage party then this is your bar. The bartenders were taking shots or sipping beer behind the bar all night, got our drinks wrong, then wanted to blame us for trying to switch them out because THEY made a mistake. Great dive bar with super friendly staff. Be warned in advance, though, they are cash only but do have an ATM. They have a full bar and lots of beer choices but only 3 on tap. TouchTunes is here and the music plays at a good volume. I had a great time! read more

If you're in college, this is your bar. If you are not, it is not. Came here once, and even though I love a dive bar, this needs a bit of pick me up. Wish they had more local beers. Came here tonight and had a great time with my boyfried! Definitely a great dive sports bar type of place! Not overly crowded at all. The bar itself is beautifully decorated with sports parrephenilla and it is obvious that it is more of baseball fan type of bar! The bartender was wearing a cute Mets jersey and was very friendly! She had a nice choice of music playing from her phone which echoed through the speakers. It was a combination of 90s rock and alternative tunes...definitely brought me back to my childhood years. There is also a cute digital juke box if you wanted to hear something different. In the back there was a pool table which was occupied by another couple for the duration of the night and a darts board as well. They have a huge selection of bottled beers and unfortunately only 3 beers on tap. We stuck to the bottled beers, I had Bud Light and my boyfriend had Coronas. Not sure if they serve food because we didn't ask about a menu because we had dinner before we came. I would definitely come back here to enjoy a quiet, relaxing night with a few beers and maybe a game of pool. read more

Pretty much the only game in town along Main Street as far as a true pub goes. This is basically a local's dive-bar that has been located there since 1959, and kind of looks like it. We dropped in here for a few minutes over the weekend to watch the last few innings of Sunday's Yankee game. The walls are all covered in dark woods and aged brown paneling. Jukebox and an old pool table in the back. Some flat screens on the walls around the bar. It's really one large dark room with a bar to the side and a pool table. Old black and white pictures of past Yankee greats are hanging on the wall along with some neon beer signs and other beer related signage. Not really crowded except for a few of the locals that were hanging out and enjoying themselves. We grabbed a few sodas and just lingered by ourselves off to the side before making our exit after the game ended. The Set Back Inn though has had some Hollywood visits over the years. Several films have shot scenes here including The Good Sheppard and Mona Lisa Smile. They also have occasional live music performed here. It reminds me of one of those local-yokel kind of bars where everyone knows everyone else in town, and each has been going there since they could drink from an early age. read more

This is literally the worst bar in Tarrytown... I would rate it negatively but thats obviously not possible. Described by locals as, "the bar where dreams go to die" and aptly so. If you're a WOMAN know that you're not welcomed here as a patron, but as a form of entertainment for male patrons, because those are the only patrons that this bar cares about. I have been to this bar over 20 times and only twice have I had a "good time" here. Not a single bartender cares or recognizes me even though by now im basically a regular. WAS a regular. Prepare to be harassed, heckled, and questioned for everything from your fashion choices, to how much you consume, how fast and why. If you lack male hormones you are NOT welcomed here. NEVER LEAVE YOUR DRINK ALONE IN THIS BAR. EVER!!!! I, not only ended up at the hospital once, but after that experience, recognized when patrons deliberately switched my drink and still got blamed for my "friend" not watching it for me when I stepped out for a smoke. If you are female DONT GO HERE ALONE. Just don't go here PERIOD. It's a sausage fest of the WORST KIND. The service is abysmal and you risk your life. There's plenty of other bars around and if they're not open, believe me you are better off going to the Seven 11 by the corner and drinking by yourself at home. Dive bar. So dive-y they don't even have any taps, just bottles, cans and liquor. If you have very low expectations you won't be disappointed. I like to go here after a concert at the Tarrytown Music Hall. Sometimes the road crew from the band show up. Yes, it is that crappy that roadies choose it. I do question some of their bottled beer prices, $8 for a Dogfishhead? from a bottle? That's a little too bourgeoisie for such a dump. But easily avoided. Great old school dive bar. Loaded with interesting locals to shoot the shit with. They have a dart lane and a pool table to keep you occupied. They have a solid variety of craft brews on hand. My only complaint is they only have 3 drafts and they seem to be dedicated to craft beers. When I'm in an old dive like this I'd much rather have a Guinness or Budweiser on draft. If I lived in Tarrytown (I'm a few towns over) I would be here regularly. read more

If you are attending an event at the music hall and want a bite or drink before the show, make reservations elsewhere, otherwise this place takes the overflow and you'll be disappointed. That's what happened to us. Every place on Main st was packed so we ended up here:worn, not clean and characters-a-plenty! To add salt to the wound, the bartender couldn't get our drink orders right. This bar is nothing fancy but a decent place to stop in for a drink. The selection of beers and liquor sufficed for me. One thing I was not pleased with was the women's talk show displayed on the tvs. While we were there, a group of four walked in and walked straight out probably because of this. We thought of doing the same but there is not a ton of options other than one good bar located down the block that we found afterwards. The bartender was nice enough but I was very surprised that the business or bartender did not try harder to appeal to guests by turning on some music or even sports to give it a more energetic and fun atmosphere. I work in the industry and was caught off guard by this. I felt like I was intruding in someone's living room. The only thing worse would have been Keeping up with the Kardashians (which I probably would have secretly enjoyed) but my boyfriend and brother would have certainly drawn the line. read more
