I wish I had a dive bar like O'Connor's nearby where I live. Talk about being there every night after work. But a buddy of mine lives up there, so that's the place she chooses to meet up for some karaoke fun! I've been there twice now and the experience has been super fun. The first time I got into a pretty good inebriated philosophical debate in the back yard while smoking my cigar and working on my second Tullamore Dew. The singing was really lively that night and lot of the patrons joined on my 80s music high jinx. The second time I went was just as warm and welcoming. I read Tarot for a couple patrons, and got a few claps for my terrible rendition of Bob Seager. Very gracious crowd. I played darts this time and they also have a pool.table that has my name on it next time. Both times the staff has been extremely friendly and professional. Do not listen to the 1-2 star reviews. If you are looking for a night club with a DJ thumping a beat so hard you can't hold a conversation....this isn't the place for you. This is where you go to chill out and relax. O'Connor's is a jukebox, pool table, and back patio kind of place. In White Plains this kind of bar is dying out because of the youth wanting every place to be a pretentious NYC rooftop. This is a diamond in the rough. This is a classic joint. As far as drinks and service goes....the beer selection is great and we really LOVE the staff. Lucky always greets me with a glass in his hand and the question "Brooklyn Lager?". The whole staff is attentive and courteous....and almost always has a smile on their face. This is absolutely our favorite bar in white plains....and we highly suggest it if you're looking for a less crowded spot with a more laid back vibe. read more

A nice little dive bar in downtown White Plains. While downtown White Plains has gotten a little better over the years it's still a dicey place. Therefore this establishment fits right in with the vibe of the area. Strike up a conversation with two nice young ladies there on a date over a pint of Guinness. People in the joint were reasonably friendly but not horribly outgoing. I had a good time just chilling and enjoying my beer before I went back to my hotel. a total shit hole. I had 25mins to kill so I popped in for a pint of stout last Tuesday evening. There were a few people seated at the bar and they all looked half asleep. The barmaid was attentive enough and took my order of a pint of Guinness after some moron finished a long winded story about the day in his cubicle. While he shared his wisdom, I noticed that their porter needs to spend some time cleaning the counter and mopping the floors. It'd been a while since the place got a good cleaning. As soon as I got my beer, I realized that I wasn't in an Irish pub based on the pour. No biggie. But when I raised my glass, I could tell that it was not a pint glass. It looked like the usual Guinness glass but smaller. Probably 16oz? If that wasn't annoying enough, she charged me $7.50! A properly poured pint of Guinness is $6.50 the full length of McLean Ave... I drank my beer, left a $1.50 tip and wished I had stopped someplace else as I walked out. Too many places on Mamaroneck Ave to wet your whistle. O'Connor's is overpriced and a waste of time in my opinion. If you like dirty, dingy holes, this is your place. The only thing that's missing is peanut shells on the floor. read more

Happy hour specials are Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm and feature $3.50 drafts and $5 martinis. Trivia on Thursday nights starts at 8:30. Two more wins! Draft beers are actually respectable - Captain Lawrence, Goose Island, Sam Adams, Newcastle. When it's not happy hour, a draft beer will set you back $5. Slightly cheaper than Lazy Boy, although the selection of beers is not as extensive. The bartenders were extremely friendly and conversed with us here and there. We also got popcorn with our beer, which as we all know, helps us consume more beer. Everyone was happy. There is a foosball table in back and in order not to alienate the bros completely, there is a beer pong table and a few HD TVs to watch a variety of college sports. read more

I started going to O'Connor's because of the trivia nights. I still go religiously, every Tuesday, for Tom's Trivia, but the bar itself has a great personality. Much more divey than any of the other bars on Mamaroneck Avenue. You won't find any pretentious yuppies here. Just real people having a fun night out. The backyard area is great on a nice night, and they recently added a pool table, which made for an awesome slap bet between two of my friends. Overall, O'Connor's is just a chill bar with chill people. And they are dog friendly (but I wouldn't bring Fido when it's busy). read more

About a year back I was doing a promotion at O'Connors in Mt. Kisco and was asked to leave because a man was attacking me physically(I am a small girl). The Thursday night male bartender told me that I was embarrassing his bar because I no longer felt comfortable working his promotion with a guy harassing me everywhere I went. This used to be one of my absolute favorite places to chill, play pool or darts, and listen to tunes on the jukebox. The people that chilled here were eccentric and the non-typical, tight-clothes, gel-haired, orange, short, muscle heads that seemed to migrate from NJ. But then - Alan (cool dude) went MIA and the biggest a-hole imaginable became faux manager. Lucky is the absolute worst. Simply seeing him & feeling his rude AF energy ruins the night. He's abrasive and socially inept. Get a better manager people. Downer. And the people dwindled to a select few because too much has changed and the cool vibe is gone. Even the bouncers that once worked there were respectful and pleasant. And now - pshh forget it. Lame. Steven is cool though. I've been coming here for the last 3 months all the way from Connecticut and every time I come in I'm never disappointed. It's the first time in awhile I've been to a bar with a pool table, a dartboard and a jukebox with a great selection of music which not that many places I've been to have but here. So I went here with two friends on a Friday night at about 1am and it was the sketchiest place I've been to in a long time. I actually thought I was in a movie scene. An old man asked to join us in playing pool then quickly tried to gamble with $5 a ball. He was clearly pretending to be drunk and was trying to hustle us. We said no and a large man who appeared to be the bouncer then approached us also pretending to be wasted and asked us to play one more game. If you are going to be a con artist at least be good at it. The bartender was nice enough but there is no way he didn't know what was going on. Im a regular at oconnors (including weekdays). Would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the prices. $7 shots,$11 mixed drinks. About average for mamaroneck ave drink prices, however, as far as I know there's no happy hour (if there is, the bartenders have never made me aware of it), and the drink specials aren't great. Various other bars on the strip do $2 shot specials on weekdays. That's my only complaint. Otherwise, the service is great. Bartenders are friendly and engaging, especially Kenny. It's a fun dive bar with a pool table, darts, and a nice outdoor patio in the summer with good seating. The music is very divey (taking back Sunday, fort minor, picture all those bands you used to listen to in high school) but during the weekends, later on in the night, is good. Jukebox should be updated. The crowd is my favorite part of this place. Everyone I've encountered is friendly, chill, laid back and open minded. Dress is very casual. Pretty much anything goes. You'll see people coming from work in anything from suits to Abercrombie flannels. Great people, service, environment, casual dress, but pricey drinks. Everybody should check this place out. Not a bad bar. The only good one on Mamaroneck. Ill come here for liquid lunches and weekend hangs. I actually somewhat enjoy coming here. The wheel o shots in fun. The Brazen Fox sucks and O Connors is actually tolerable with slightly better people. Don't go to the Brazen Fox and go to O'Connors instead. This is a solid four star bar (Its still a mamaroneck bar, and the built in horrible people of the Mamaroneck Ave crowd keeps any bar in White Plains from being truly great) but it loses one more star for the silly no hat policy. I'm writing this review after a cool night out with friends. This is the type of bar you go to when you want to hang out with friends, chill out, and relax. The karaoke was a great touch. We were all singing along and just enjoying ourselves. The outdoor seating area is greatest part about the bar. I got to meet some of the friendliest and most down to earth people ever. This rating really goes out to the bartenders. This was my first time here and one of my friends was approached by a random man asking for money. Little did she know that he was carrying a box cutter with the blade out, and hiding it right behind his back. She went into the bar and he followed her in. We immediately notified one of the bartenders and he took care of it right away. He threw the guy out, and even just random bar patrons were all trying to take care of the situation. Went here for their trivia night one night. It was impossible to make out what the announcer was saying, the speaker system sounded distorted, had feedback, and the bar noise was already at a roar. Originally I agreed with Dana and Keith. This place was finally a pub in White Plains that was an actual pub and not just another snooty bar trying to pretend to be a pub (fyi, not allowing sneakers, having to have a button down shirt, etc makes you not a pub). They have a cute backyard and the vibe was very chill. The bartenders were nice and sassy (I loved watching one kick a guy out after he squirted her with hose from outback) and the bartenders were tough biker dudes. My fear is that O'Connors is turning into the old Finn McCool's with the old alcoholic bums. Like the last time we went in and same this dude sitting in the corner nearly passed out with his eyes rolling around and looking like he was going to puke. Or the time before that when I felt like I walked into Mars bar with all the old drunks at the bar leaned on the bar for support including that 50 year old woman with her ass crack hanging out hitting on everyone who walked by. I hope that the clientele changes once it gets warm out - otherwise White Plains may have lost what could have been an actual pub. read more
