Out of view from the main road and behind the pool you will find a huge covered picnic table area. The picnic table area comes equipped with electrical outlets, a grill, and even a smoker. The picnic area is also equipped with security cameras. As you cross over, Gilleland Creek, you'll find a war Memorial and some picnic tables and small pavillion. As you continue past this park, the immediate next destination is the very kid friendly Pflueger park along the path. Also, just behind the pool, are two kids play scapes and some swings. I would be remiss if Idid not point out the very large pool that sits on the property. I won't go into much detail since there are several reviews on the pool already. If you're in need of some public bathrooms, you'll find them at the Pflueger park next-door. Definitely one of the nicer parks along the trail.

Inside the park is a huge parking lot making it great for housing Hutto residents for big events like Fourth of July, but there's also a large pond (or two large ponds) which are usually well stocked with fish, an amphitheater that is used for park events though sadly Brushy Creek Amphitheater is not currently booking events, and plenty of other space for roaming. The gazebo area is very nice and gives you beautiful access to Brushy Creek itself. There's not much pathways for running though, so I don't recommend this place for working out I do think this place will become less populated once Fritz Park is completed as that park is going to be fantastic, but until then, this is a great spot for Hutto. It really is a peaceful and enticing green space where you can find tame deer grazing. The only problem is, this is a private HOA property. It's not a big pond and it probably takes less than 15m to walk around it but is pretty and they mulch the paths towards the back of the lake so it's soft on the feet. There are also some tennis courts and some outdoor exercise stations. The pond is more for flood control with all the impervious cover from the surrounding developments. There's some literature about the pond and the park posted if you want to know more. It's pretty all seasons but best in spring and fall.

Being from Cali and…read morehaving moved to Texas about three years ago, we have high expectations for trails, but this one made me feel a little less far from "home." Great natural features abound along the whole of the trail, such as a babbling brook, some jutting rocks creating an alcove, a big boulder, elevation changes, and offshoots to explore. Some lucky inhabitants of the area actually have access to this trail from their backyards! I was supremely jealous. It's a relatively easy trail but some patches are a bit rocky, so best to wear a sturdy pair of boots if you can. Lots of shade though, so you may not require a hat or sunscreen if you won't be out long. We were able to hike the entire length of it, and back, in a little over a couple hours, so it's not an all-day type trail, but a great get-out-of-the-house-for-a-spell trail. The Boy Scouts also put up a sign to indicate the direction of Mountain View Park that you should absolutely follow as part of your visit/journey. At the top of the stairs you'll find ample green grass, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, a modern children's play structure, picnic tables, restroom, and a water fountain. So if you need a break from the trail, to relieve yourself, refill your water bottle, or just to sit down and enjoy, it's a perfect intermission. While we were there, we discovered some joyful soul had left extra sidewalk chalk out for people/kids to play with during their visit. I couldn't resist leaving a drawing myself. =) Note: there doesn't seem to be any official parking lot for this trail. Most folks were parallel parking on the slope of Scotland Well Drive and proceeding the short distance to the trail head. There was sufficient room to do so.

Street parking is allowed on Greenlawn Blvd and at the main entrance on Heritage Springs Trail. The only amenities at this location are a few benches, a paved trail system and further inward you will find primitive trails and a dry creek crossing at Lake Creek. You can stick to the paved trails which run behind the local residents or veer off onto the primitive trails which take you into the woods. If you're looking for a quiet place to hike or bike, this would be a good starting point.
