What a wonderful place! I went here tonight with my mom for dinner. The place is beautiful. I never had Armenian cuisine before and I always wanted to try! I love the decor, the lightning and the ambiance. We had the Armenian salad for our appetizer which was delicious! Very fresh and the dressing was tasty. We both had the chicken kebabs for dinner. The chicken was very moist and tender. I had mine with rice and my mom had hers with fries. The rice and fries were very good. Arthur was serving us and he was very friendly and attentive. I highly suggest this place for parties. They have a huge room in the back of the restaurant as well with outdoor seating. It's immaculate! They have beautiful lightning arrangements for parties. I thought parking would be an issue but it's no issue at all! There is plenty of parking on the street. We had a very nice meal at Sevan restaurant. We had the yogurt, delicious cured meats, and Kufti, which are small meet-filled dumplings. We chose this restaurant as part of our UN Food Tour where we are eating or cooking the food of every UN member state.. in alphabetical order. The friendly Lebanese-Armenians at the table next to us, graciously introduced themselves and shared some of their dinner with us - advising us on how to eat and order Armenian food. For the main course we had Manti dumplings which were rich and tasty and also he grilled meat kabobs. This is a family-run restaurant. All the food was delicious and the house red was good too. As middle eastern restaurants go most have the usual dishes you all see on them. Seven makes them tastier and more delicious. The mixed grill with lamb and chicken with rice was very tasty. The rice especially was fresh and very flavorful. A great compliment to the dish. The other dish was the lamb shish-kabob and that was a real winner. The side dishes of salad with feta and the cheese boureks were just as we expected. This is a gem of a place and will be returning. I am thinking about have my sons birthday party here. Our days of eating out seem to have ended now that our family has expanded, but we recently were able to visit Sevan restaurant for a baptismal lunch. I'm tempted to give it five stars since this was one of our first meals alone, but the truth is that Sevan is a fine choice for a casual meal but nothing more. A little digression on the various kinds of Armenian restaurants. Sevan is an Armenian restaurant that has its roots more in Armenia the country than Armenian food as interpreted in the middle east. Thus, the mezze, although aping that produced by Lebanese or Syrian Armenians, just isn't as good you might expect. The dozens of small plates you might get at a real middle eastern place simply aren't here. Not their fault. And the mezze that is available is competent, but standard stuff - Cortas canned hummous and baba ghanouj (I think) gussied up to look like something more. Having said all that, the restaurant is pleasant and abundant, the rich, buttery basmati rice that accompanies the tasty (and well priced) kebab main dishes is spectacular in the way of many Persian and Armenian restaurants and the service is unfussy but good. If you have a ken for some kebab and rice, and happen to be in Bayside or Long Island, I wouldn't think twice about coming here. You'll be treated well. read more

Apparently that night they were having a doctors seminar and we had to sit through a powerpoint presentation throughout our dinner...awkward is an understatement. THE FOOD: Overpriced, portions are decent, the food was beyond bland. Armo food is known for its delicious meats and spices. The lamb was fatty and chewy with nothing on it. The rice was okay. The french fries were really good but thats about it. The beregs and lahmajoons were terrible! You can tell nothing was made fresh, that dude just whipped them right out of the freezer. Had my father's 70th surprise party here last night. Food service and atmosphere all incredible. Best chicken kabob I've ever had - soft, moist and spiced to perfection. Beef kabobs, salads, apps, cheese boureks also delicious! We have found a gem in the neighborhood, and so have all our guests who all raved and said they'd be back for dinner! This place is a gem! I have lived in the area and had no idea there was an European greek, Armenian Turkish spot near by. This area greatly needs this type of delicious variety of cuisine. Usually my husband and I have to drive to Brooklyn to eat this type of food but after finding this i will be coming here instead. I am a lover of Turkish food and although this is Armenian style the flavors are very similar. For starters the waiter was very accommodating he sat us In the back with the romantic lights outside. The waiter was kind and respectful excellent service was provided. Being a vegetarian I had limited options from the menu and was concerned. The waiter assured me he can create a beans with rice and grilled veggies on the side. This tasted delicious and looked incredible. The flavors were on point. The rice was fluffy the beans were seasoned great. Truly enjoyed the food and hospitality of this restaurant. Now I guess you can call me spoiled considering that I am dating an Armenian woman who happens to be an excellent cook but this food was just bland. I ordered the lamb chunks and It was if the chef took a beautiful piece of lamb and just threw it over the fire. There was no flavor or spice to be found throughout the dish. I called to a short balding man that was coming towards me from an outside patio in the back. I knew it was raining so that wasn't an option and so I asked if there was a connected indoor restaurant. This short bitter man told me everyone must say "hello" first and then proceeded to ignore my only pertinent question. Because I was wearing my company logo this guy says if you're "selling something we don't want it". I can only conclude that he is not quite as abrasive if he's sure he's talking to a paying customer. I was and he's an angry assumptive fool. Recently I had an occasion to leave my home in Massachusetts and travel to Queens for a memorial dinner at Sevan. I was very impressed. The restaurant had been set up beautifully into 10 tables with family style service. The wait staff was very considerate and accommodating. The food was exceptional and I particularly enjoyed the hommus. I probably could have made a meal out of that and pita bread, but the chicken and lamb were too tempting and delicious. At the end of the meal the Paklava was served and was some of the best I've ever tasted. Kudos to the chef and the staff. I hope to go back to the restaurant when I go to NY again. read more

It is a nice family owned place with home-made fresh Armenian food and nice-sized portions. You will find TLC in everything - delicious and authentic food, friendly staff and live music during the weekends. We celebrated our son's first birthday at this place and were extremely happy with the experience. The owner is very friendly and helpful and always accommodated all our desires. The food and service are okay to good. The biggest issue with this place is it needs to decide if it's a restaurant or a catering place. I was here for a baptism dinner in where the host booked the place with a DJ for a few hours. All of a sudden during the appetizers there was a walk in of 4 and the owner/manager figure sat them at the two empty tables that looked like the should have been moved for the party. The host complained and the owner/manager character told them to leave but with an attitude toward the host. So odd and bad business. Especially since I see a similar comment from a 2011 review. Sad since there are very few Armenian restaurants in the tri-state area. read more
