Love this park. A walking distance from my apartment. Clean, plenty of shaded area, bathroom is decent, 3 bbq pit, 6 table bench, a basketball court, a spot to practice baseball, a volleyball poll, nice playground for kids. If you plan a big celebration or gathering I suggest you contact the Union City Recreational Center to reserve the spot. I took this photo on a 91°F at 3:30pm and it's not bad. You don't even feel the heat because the breeze and the shade is just that good.

The grass could be maintained better, but it's otherwise fine.

My mom threw a reunion party here on Sunday. (Some of her old coworkers briefly chatted with me and my wife, but they didn't give their names, and so we were kind of baffled afterward.) My mom's 1st choice was Lake Elizabeth, but they were charging $500 (there's a $200 deposit that you can get back). Kennedy Park in Union City was her 2nd choice, but the date my mom wanted was taken (the party was initially going to be in June). This park is just a few blocks from where my parents live, and it only costs $75 to rent. My mom thought that parking was going to be an issue, but it turned out not to be (there are only about 8 lined parking spots, but there's enough room in the area for about 20 cars to park). The basketball court looks like sh-- now. All the cracks were probably caused by small earthquakes and the roots of some of the trees that surround it. The rims have always been tight. Still, that doesn't explain how poorly my wife and I shot (the only baskets I made were real close up). The restrooms are old, but at least there's hand soap in the men's restroom now. It's also kept clean. I saw a flock of turkeys when I arrived (a guy actually drew my attention to them when he pointed them out to his son). Later on, I heard some rustling when I was changing my son Joshua (he was lying down on a towel- as far as I know, there isn't a diaper changing station in the women's restroom either). I didn't know what was approaching, and so I got the heck out of there (no, I didn't forget Joshua). There was an issue with the gate (it's at the far right of the park). It was locked, and so the caterers that my mom hired had to set up at the top of the hill (the parking lot). It was kind of lame. Food had to be brought down with a cart, and guests who arrived late were inconvenienced (they basically had to walk up the hill to order). A park official checked on us early on (he talked to my sister because my mom was elsewhere at the time), but he couldn't unlock the gate (someone else has the key). Anyway, he was friendly, but useless. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/seven-hills-park-union-city?select=pe01TFTXoZmvqXS4B9d75g#F-O63aPBdVtcd0u4sYeXpw: The playground surface is softer (more spongy) than I thought. Although it's only a few years old, there are some small holes now (it would be good if they were patched up soon). In general, though, the playground is quite safe. 2 kids can go down the slide at once. A girl and a boy were racing each other at one point. The playground is mainly for kids 3 and up, but Joshua had fun climbing the stairs and going down the slide, and so did my niece Siena (they're both 16 months old). The path leading into the park has become a little rocky and bumpy again. It's dangerous to go racing down it, but some kids do (usually on their bikes). As I mentioned last time, there are 6 picnic tables and 3 BBQ grills. If you're going to rent the Kitayama Picnic Site, parties of 30 are ideal. The party roughly went from 12:30-6. About 12 strangers also enjoyed the park during that time, and there was plenty of room for them too (I don't think they really cared, but I felt bad for the young people who had to gather on the grass). There are bigger and better parks around, but this is still a nice place for friends and families to gather.

This is the clean well kept Park I wish I had nearby when I was a tot. Complete with basketball court, softball field and swings. Ample free parking and bathrooms. The garbage bins were emptied with fresh trash bags. No floating garbage around and plenty of shade for a picnic. I came here and walked some laps because it is shaded by plenty of trees and quiet.

Which makes sense when you're in a concrete urban jungle day in and day out - we just weren't meant to live this way. I literally searched Yelp for a park in the area on my way home, and Lakeshore came up. Tucked away in a residential area, Lakeshore is a small-ish, serene, well-kept park with, as the name implies, a lake being the central point. I strolled on the path for a bit. I'm not sure how long the path is, but it seems like a good spot to get a decent walk in, and there were a few walkers and joggers. After stretching my legs for a bit, I grabbed some bench and watched the birds - geese (these guys are huge!), seagulls, ducks, and crows - hanging out and eyeballing me to determine if I had food. They were so cute. There is nothing that gets me feeling better fast than being around animals. The human animals that passed by were nice as well, with smiles and hellos, how refreshing. I spent some time just sitting and resetting. It was good. I need to do this more. Nice park, enjoyed a much-needed reprieve here, and would return.

When we came across a video of this location on instagram we knew we had to plan a day to come. The weather says 80, but with the breeze and the slight shade from the trees it felt more like low 70s. We were lucky to get the only bench in front of the main play structure over looking the smaller ones. Others sat in lawn chairs and on blankets under the trees. There is no public restroom on site. There is a Ranch 99 about a block away, so if the lil one had to potty that is where we planned to venture. There is one food truck selling Mexican food - cash only - otherwise bring your own snacks. We were fortunate to snag parking directly in front of the park as space is limited. Around the park, there is a single block creating half a "circle" of parking availability. There is more parking around but it requires crossing the street. The residential street directly across from the park is no parking 9a-4p. There is a path for littles to ride their bikes, scooters or skate around safely, remaining visible. Our daughter kept hers in the car while she played between the multiple structures with different "friends." There is also a fitness area on site as well as a smaller tot area in a separate section of the park and a half basketball court. There was a birthday party being held on the premise. This is definitely a park we would return to if she requested. The lack of restroom does have me a bit torn, but knowing this allows us to plan a bit smarter. I would bring a friend along to accompany her as they could play on different structures while both remain visible. Our tall 6 year old played in both areas of the park - big and little kid areas - and enjoyed them both. They is quite a bit of exploring and lots to do for a free adventure day at the park.
