BBQ pits and open grass area

A perfectly good neighborhood park. Pros: lots of grass/room, fun playground, picnic area Cons: no bathrooms, not a ton of shade Fun park in a safe neighborhood. In all the times we've been here, it's never overly crowded, run down, or dirty. Everyone here is friendly and keeps to themselves. I've never seen anyone use the two BBQ grills, but they're there. There's a small basketball court that is always used, and the field is nice to throw a football around, play soccer, or even fly a kite. Since it's temperate most of the year, it's a great park to frequent. Tip: it tends to get breezy in this neighborhood, so bring a jacket or sweater if it's below 70, just in case.

a review from amom2kidsandapark.com This park, with two playgrounds separated by a 1/4 mile bike trial, is the perfect destination for peddles and play. Most of the park's features are found at the main site of the park on Dorado Dr and Regents Blvd. Along with the lower height of the structure yet lots of opportunities for play, this part of Mariner Park fun for kids big and small. The structure has two slides (a short tube and a spiral), ladders, steps, a sliding pole, crawling tunnel, peek out bubbles, two steering wheels and tic tac toe. Near by is the swing set with standard swings and tire swing. It is all in a soft rubber surface that could use some repair. As you can see in the photos, the large nearby trees offer a lot of shade. Near the play area is a half baskeball court along with other playground games like handball and foursquare. In this same space there are some workout machines. Also close by is a large picnic area with a lot of tables and bbq. Could be used as group or small scale pinicking. Let's not forget about the huge grass field! Just a little ways down the paved trail is the smaller play area much more geared towards smaller kiddos. This play structure has one wide slide, a crawling tunnel, peek out bubbles, a small arch ladder and tic tac toe. Close by is a bucket only swing set. Another enjoyable feature along this small paved trial of Mariner Park is the bridge where we saw ducks, turtles, and cats. Street parking. No bathrooms.

I take my niece here every so often. It is clean and the families that play here are usually friendly. Cant really ask for more than that.

a review from @amom2kidsandapark…read more It was hot today and this park seemed like the perfect destination...sea breeze, amiright? No. No, I'm wrong. There's a large man-made hill between the park and the shore blocking any and all "sea breeze". With zero to no shade over the structure, it's safe to say we didn't stay here long. The park is pretty large with two ball fields and plenty of grass in between (no permanent outfield boards so it's essentially a huge open field with some dirt and a backstop on either corner). The entire park has paved sidewalks all around, especially near the playground where the sidewalks weave in and out of picnic tables and a man-made grove of small/someday giving shade trees. That's one thing this park really has going for it, there's a lot of trees. The play structure is in a circle format with bridges or a crawl tunnel connecting platform to platform. This format really allows for younger children not yet ready for the suspended lily pads or monkey bars to have fun and enjoy the entire structure. There are three slides (sidewinder, tube, double), steps, various ladders, activities, and the before mentioned crawl tube that can almost act as a fourth slide because of the angle. No swings or playground extras. While there is a parking lot and bathroom it couldn't be any farther from the playground. We parked on Point Lobos Ct which is much closer to the playground but we still had to walk a few minutes to get to the playground since it's tucked in the back corner. This park is great for biking and scootering or even stroller walks since it has a lot of long sidewalks.

Very nice suburban park in Union City that has many features for the local community to use/access…read more Nestled between a big street (Dyer Rd) and a quiet residential, so it is quite spacious yet well laid out. It has curves so it isn't just a rectangle space. And I found the landscaping to be very clean and well thought out. Street parking only but I've never seen an issue with over crowding the residential. There's so much curb parking throughout the circumference that it spreads parking out. There is a war memorial here with plaques and towering flags. It is quite official looking and don't remember this years ago when I was younger. There's a small playground with a cool cement slide that kids love to zoom down on with cardboard underneath them. There's a basketball court, 6 tennis courts and 2 baseball/softball fields. All available for the community to use. I got reacquainted with this park as I parked once and ate a lunch on a bench on a beautiful spring day. I took a short walk around the park for a little exercise and took in the scenery and features. I eventually came back to practice on this massive tennis wall where you can hit into this wall and the ball just comes right back. A way to practice/work out without a partner. Except I used it for pickleball which I am trying to learn. It's helped me out immensely even with just a few visits. I don't live in this town but I live less than 3 miles from here. I have parks nearer to me but none have these specific features that's been attracting me as of late. It is clean, peaceful and vibrant with community activity and to that I can only show some love. Easy fiver!

Fast and super fun--kids absolutely love it and don't want to stop Tip: bring a piece of cardboard, it makes sliding smoother and even more fun! What we like: Clean and newer picnic area Restrooms available (very convenient!) Plenty of parking Heads up: Not much shade and limited seating, so bringing a picnic mat is a good idea Overall, a relaxing and low-crowd spot for kids to run and play Perfect for after school or a chill weekend outing Veteran's Memorial Park - Hall Ranch 4525 Dyer St, Union City, CA 94587
