Love Seven Lakes! You really can't go wrong in any state park in Michigan based on my experience, but Seven Lakes is definitely one of the gems. Tons of lakes (hence the name) throughout the park to keep the views interesting and the terrain can be challenging at times, which keeps the hikes interesting as well! Love coming here, especially in the winter! Just don't accidentally drive into a ditch like I did because the snow blankets everything too well and pay more attention than me as you drive up to the parking lots! The Seven Lakes loop we hike clocks in at about 4 miles and 180 feet elevation gain! A little challenging, but I definitely highly recommend! read more

Great state park. Could use some more doggie bags and trash cans along the trail - but ultimately it's a gorgeous, clean park with clear cut signs of where to park. We had an easy time navigating it! You do have to pay to go to this national park though, before you enter. It's not egregious, but unfortunately I forget how much it is. They have a visitors pass & a pass for state residents as well. The trail is clean and the water and views are gorgeous. I would highly recommend stopping by! read more

This place is great. I went Morel hunting today with some buddies and though we were in successful; we did not fail. We found a wonderful place to visit in the summer months with the kids. The have rustic camping sites and a nice beach. The boat launch is old, but it works. read more

The park looked good except there was tons of goose poop on the beach and they had to close it cause of bacteria

Beautiful park and lots of walking paths and hiking paths. The bathrooms have been pretty clean typically, I do know it's harder to keep bathrooms next to beaches clean (with sand constantly being tracked it) but I've never been truly grossed out when entering or using the restrooms. The scenery is wonderful and since the lakes are wider, there typically a really nice breeze across all the lakes and which really cools you down in the summer. The campground is cute and fully paved, so I would recommend it for people with young children as there are typically lots of other family's and a small park for them to play on. I know years ago they used to do camp crafts with kids too which were always fun but I don't know if that's been continued since Covid-19. I would not recommend this for people looking for a rural camping experience or for people who would like to travel outside of the campground as well, there not much to do outside of the park. The campsites are closer together as well and not separate by much so not much privacy if you're in the center rows. read more

Omg, we found this place by accident but found an amazing overlook. Michigan has a great network of parks throughout the state. If you are new to the area, or new to the outdoors, you will definitely enjoy exploring parks large and small in Metro Detroit, like Kensington Metro, Heritage Park, etc. But this one is ~ an hour and half north. We went on the first sunny day in March and were gifted panoramic views of kettle and kame topography (unique and hilly land formations). There was even some ice on the ponds, still solid enough to show footprints of someone walking. Nice hilly paths. There wasn't an open facility (perhaps because it was before Memorial Day), so nowhere public to use the bathroom :O Enjoy exploring PURE Michigan! read more

My husband and I hunt in this park and fish in this park. It's a truly gorgeous park to walk through with many trails and the lakes are gorgeous. One thing that surprised us the one morning was that the hot-air-balloon from across the street at Balloon Quest Inc. Capt. Phogg Balloon Rides flew over the park and did a splash in the lake! It was a really amazing thing to watch as the balloon got closer to the water, then just barely touched the surface and they were up again! It was a beautiful morning already and the balloon made it stunning! So not only is the park itself an amazing park for all of it's gorgeous lakes, and beautiful trails, but the hot air balloons fly over it too! read more

Awesome park! We take our dog here for walks all the time. There are lots of trails and plenty of space for the pup to run around and explore. Its clean and weve had no issues ever when hanging out there. The lake here is also pretty nice. We haven't had a chance to swim in it so I'll update when we do. read more

Seven lakes is a nice place, staff at the front desk was very polite and helpful! our campsite was level at the very least and mostly clean, minus the soda bottles in the fire ring, candy wrappers lying about and m&ms on the ground. this will really be a nice place once the trees finish growing to mature height and people clean up after themselves! the lake at the campground had minnows swimming by the shore and people were casting so there clearly must be fish in this little pond. plenty of grass for your pooches or kids if you have those instead. they sell wood and ice at the check in bldg if you need it otherwise you can get wood at the Mobil in town which is adjacent to a beer and liquor store. if you can't or don't want to cook there looks to be a pretty stellar Mexican joint in town to go eat at and since we can cook and only there one night we opted to not go out. people seemed pretty respectful of quiet hours and we left pretty early to get back on the road. I would definitely recommend this place and if we are ever this way again we will stay again. ps there is two lanes but only one dump. I will advise this place is great for people with dogs!!! read more

Seven Lakes State Park, has it all. I love camping at Sand Lake Campground, and hiking in the state park. The Campground is small, cheap ($19.00 a night) and family oriented. The lake is small and clean, and has no motors on it, so it's quiet. They rent canoes and paddle boats, and even will bring you firewoood if you have a motor home, like me and no car. I feel real safe camping there as a woman alone. I camped here a few times this year and enjoyed it more each time. It's my new favorite place to camp. read more

My young son and I had a great time at the beach awhile back, but we were both Extremely Rudely Threatened by a very heavy set African American woman for No Apparent Reason At All!!! She threatened us and said "I Will Kick Your Ass!!!" My young son and I felt very unsafe and felt very threatened, and also very confused by this random stranger!!! We were alone together at the park and it was evening time! I Should have told the park people that run the place and even called the cops on her! She had a little girl with her too! She Acted like she was on drugs, and even drunk, something like that! She was being very very loud and yelling a lot, being extremely obnoxious at the park in general too!!! She was with a small group of people, but they were being more normal! Well May Karma Come On Her, And It Will Too!!! I had my cell phone with me and I was talking to my husband about our situation! I felt too nervous to find the park people and get a hold of the cops at that moment, so my young son and I Just Left The Park Immediately!!! Next time I will have My Husband With My Young Son And I At The Park!!! I Will Not Be Coming Back For Awhile Unless my husband is with us!!! Never go alone with your young child/ren Unless you have an another adult with you!!! Times are getting too dangerous out there, As I Can Account For Towards My Young Son And I Anyways!!! Also there was another time when my son left his beach toys on the ground and we were only a few feet away and his toys were gone!!! I hate when other kids/people have to steal other people's things For No Reason At All!!! Well Karma will follow those thieves too!!! Went to the park to get a little bit of nature in. I spent the day walking the trails which for a family would have been great but a little underwhelming for myself. I imagine this would be a great place to take kids with the beaches and multiple play sets. Many shelter houses available for gatherings. read more

Great little campground. Kids loved the beach. Playground is small but enough. Bathrooms are dirty. The ranger(pat) was so rude to our family that we have no desire to go back. All anybody talked about was the crazy lady in the golf cart. With the hundreds of Michigan parks to choose from I'll go to one where we feel welcome. read more
