My favorite trail here is the Haven Hill Loop via the Blue Trail which clocks in at about 4 and a half miles. It's great year round, but in the spring it is particularly muddy. It can get a little challenging at times here because the park isn't as well kept and well marked as I'm used to at other Michigan state parks and rec areas, but nonetheless, it's a great time! I do find the hike gets a bit monotonous at points because the scenery doesn't change a lot, but then you get onto a boardwalk and it looks SO cool! Love it!

The race itself was well organized and the trail was in very good shape considering that it was raining the entire time. I can't comment on how well it's marked since the race director marks the trail for the course. I can say that it was beautiful and the woods and it would be a fun place for hiking too. Fall in Michigan is gorgeous and is definitely a time I would recommend visiting here. I will for sure be back to run more on these trails.

I have only worked on baseball thus far but am impressed and plan on trying some of the other events as well. They have Nerf Wars, Dodgeball, and Footbowling as well. My son is 7 and we are always looking for places for him to burn energy and I am impressed especially since we need a place to train while it is cold out. There are lots of lakes nearby for swimming and hiking. Brighton State Rec is not one I would go…read moreback to. The beach at Bishop Lake was too small for the amount of people and the water quality wasn't great. The water was shallow, murky, and slimy. The trail around the lake was also crowded and not peaceful. Many people were riding their bikes or walking in between the camp grounds and the beach. Some signs or trail activities were falling apart and in need of repair. If you want to be around a ton of people while enjoying the outdoors, you'd have fun. It wasn't for me.

My family purchases rec passes for all of our vehicles. When the booth worker, Connie, asked if I have a rec pass on my vehicle, I replied yes, and she waved me in. She did not stand up to view the sticker. I parked in the Bishop parking lot and soon after noticed a white vehicle speeding through the parking lot. Connie the booth worker blocked the back of my car into the parking space with her personal vehicle and jumped out screaming, so angry she was nearly foaming at the mouth. Connie jumped out of her car, and ran to my driver's side window screaming at me as I sat bewildered in the driver's seat of my car. "What do you mean you have a rec pass, you don't even have a Michigan plate?!! Go back to the booth!!" I asked Connie to remove her personal vehicle from blocking my vehicle and obstructing my movement. I told her I don't feel comfortable with her behavior and that I wanted to leave the park. Connie said, "Good, leave!" I stopped at the booth and asked for Connie's name and the contact information for a park's supervisor. Connie replied- you don't need my name. They know who I am in the park's office. She then walked into her booth and slammed the door. I had Deb with DNR drive to the booth to speak with Connie and address her bizarre and over the top behavior. When I asked Deb whether booth workers are deputized or authorized to pursue and block parks goers with their personal vehicles, she smartly replied, "What do you think?" MI Legislature allows DNR officers to write civil tickets only to visitors without a rec pass. Under no circumstances should a civilian booth worker impersonate an officer, chase, pursue or physically block a person who they believe is not carrying a rec pass.

My son had a great time at Whoa Zone at Holly Recreation Area. We have something similar at the…read morerecreation park minutes from our house, but he is a years or two away from feeling comfortable enough to go on that blow-up. The Whoa Zone is perfect for every age. They have 3 distinct areas, one for toddlers, and two for tweens/teens to adults. While you wait for your jump time, you can visit the playground nearby or play in the water. One thing that you should know in advance...you will pay for an hour and jump for 50 mins. Five minutes of the extra 10 mins is used for a safety training. I am sure it explained all of that on the website when I bought the jump times, but I was taken by surprise when I got there. Again, could have been my mistake, just thought I would point it out. With all that said, 50 mins was plenty for my kiddo. If you have younger or more timid kiddos, I suggest reserving an early jump time since they are less popular and will give them plenty of space to get comfortable. The jump times after lunch are pretty packed. Overall, he had a great time and the lifeguards are very alert and aware. The cost is not crazy in comparison to other kids entertainment. We paid full price for a jump slot and if you purchase another slot later, like after lunch. It is half price. Two slots is plenty. We will be back next summer!

I found this very rude because we payed a lot of money for this and that is not okay that it went to waste. We were all trying to have fun but then just randomly got kicked out. Unfortunately, the park had to shut down about 30 minutes after we arrived due to weather, but they handled it wonderfully by giving us a voucher to come back, plus an extra voucher for mini golf. The pricing was very reasonable, especially with all there is to do. We enjoyed the mini golf and loved that they also have a tree climbing course designed for younger children. It's a fantastic place for families, and I really appreciated that the courses are accommodating for people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and skill levels. We can't wait to come back and finish our adventure! Highly recommend!

That's always nice! We chose a site next to the playground, which was nice for the kids. There was an adorable young raccoon that hung around snatching food when we would leave anything unattended, but he was cute so we didn't care. The only downside is no dump station. That needs to be resolved or some sort of agreement for use needs to be worked out with Seven Lakes.
