My husband has always raved about the food at Sammy's Kitchen, so he finally brought me in to try it for myself. It was my first visit, and I was excited to see such a unique menu featuring a mix of Asian, Mexican, and Italian dishes. I ordered the fried shrimp with rice, and my husband chose the duck soup. Both meals were absolutely delicious. Our server, Alexander, was incredibly attentive and provided excellent service throughout our visit. When I mentioned it was my first time dining there, he made sure I had a great experience. I was also pleasantly surprised by the outdoor patio, which had a beautiful secret garden vibe that made the atmosphere feel extra special. The food, service, and atmosphere were all 10/10. To top it all off, Alexander was so thoughtful that he even made me a special ice cream dessert. We will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. Highly recommend! read more

SATURDAY NIGHT NO OMAHA! I don't even know where to begin with how disappointing this has become. For years, Omaha players actually had a place here. There used to be TWO tables running--one 8-16 and another 4-8--giving players options and keeping the game alive. It felt like management actually cared about all poker players, not just the no-limit crowd. Now? Omaha is basically gone. They've cut it down to a single table, and even that feels like an afterthought. You'll see a waiting list 13-16 names deep, and instead of doing the obvious thing--opening another table--they just let it sit there. Players wait forever, get frustrated, and eventually leave. And I guess that's the goal, because it sure feels like they'd rather not spread Omaha at all. It's honestly insulting to the players who supported that game for years. There's clearly demand, but management chooses to ignore it in favor of squeezing in another no-limit table or something else. At this point, it looks like they've quietly killed Omaha without actually admitting it. If you're an Omaha player, don't waste your time coming here expecting a game. You'll spend more time on a waiting list than actually playing--if the game even runs at all. Really disappointing to see how far this has fallen. read more

FOOD: we had pepperoni pizza and short ribs. The pizza crust was very good. The toppings were decent. I mistakenly ordered the wrong short ribs. They were a little bit fatty. The marinade was good. It came with rice and some cabbage slaw. We had a couple of draft beers. Three space dust and one sculpin. I was also able to take cookies home. Three giant, fresh cookies. One oatmeal, one chocolate chip, one macadamia white chocolate chip. I didn't taste them, but they were reported to be delicious. SERVICE: the service was spectacular. Our server, Jennifer was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The bill for what we had was decent and Jennifer gave us the players club discount. That was sweet and helped with the bill quite a bit. AMBIENCE: this place is off the beaten path and was so busy when I got there at midnight. That's the beauty of the restaurant being open 24 hours a day seven days a week. All of the poker tables were full and you had to put your name on a list to get a seat at one of the tables when a player left. We just ate, we didn't gamble. Parking was ample, but like I said, the place was packed, so there were only a few spaces when I got there. No smoking inside. read more

If I could give this place a 0, I would! The customers that play here are very angry and ALL the staff allows a LOT of profanity at the tables. It makes for a very hostile, uncomfortable environment. I was a new player and was given some free play. The dealer split my bet in half, and put half on the side bet without my permission. I told the Asian man, pit boss that was on duty yesterday, and he could care less. This place is one room, overly crowded, with only card games. Skip it! Don't waste your time or money here. Make sure you call in. Ahead of time. The Poker action is decent a little bit small for a 2/3 game . The people that run the place and work there are very nice the food is surprisingly good. They have a decent size restaurant in the back. Personally, I prefer to play at Oceans Eleven, but if I'm in San Diego, I'll either play here or Jamul. Ami, the manager at Sammy's, is an absolute delight and made the whole process of planning a party for 25 people a breeze. This casino and restaurant is located just off Highway 5, exit E Street near the bay front in Chula Vista. Have been here twice now, once with munchkin and once without. Have been met each time with friendly, hospitable and quick service... Not to mention GREAT food and drinks! There are no slots but several table for getting your gaming on, as you venture towards the back of the casino you are met with a vibrant bar and restaurant area. They offer outside seating, and the ambience was different around the holiday season - but delightful. The first time we came for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised with a pasta/pizza that was ordered. This time we came for breakfast (although it was after 12pm) and so happy to hear they still served breakfast. Ordered a few items... chilaquiles, duck tacos and a sammy. The duck tacos were bite size, cute and flavorful and placed on the plate with sour cream holding them down. The chilaquiles was delicious as the beef was simply mouth watering, the salsa verde was flavorful with a kick (menu mentions spicy) but all-in-all delicious. The Sammy sandwich was a bit dry for my liking, which is probably why I like a monte cristo sandwich better. In any event my SO ate it just fine. The truffle potatoes were interesting, delicious and flavorful little pops of potatoes. We will definitely be back to try other menu items as this place has an extensive menu. The drinks were delicious and strong, as well as reasonably priced at $12 each. They do offer a discount for members who come to play at their casino and eat... that discount is 35% off. The Crispy Brussel sprouts & Truffle Fries are also a must. This was my first time eating at the restaurant in this casino, and 90% of everything was terrible. The only thing that was good, was the alcoholic drinks. The bartender was great, no complaints there. We ordered 2 pizzas, the Sicilian and the Thai chicken, and both were disgusting! We each barely ate 2 slice and couldn't take anymore. They didn't have any Pepsi, so we ordered oJ, and it tasted rotten. It's been a long time since I've been anywhere, and everything tasted terrible. I have been going to Seven Mile Casino for years and it is my favorite casino to play poker in San Diego! I like their buy in structure and they have the best action, especially on the weekends. The wait time can be awhile but checking in ahead time with an account through their app helps. Their food through Sammy's is a bit expensive but tasty and you get comp'd based on how long you play. Glowia is very nice and efficient at the front desk! My favorite dealer here is Justin because he has a good vibe and keeps the action going politely without making mistakes! Overall, I highly recommend Seven Mile Casino for their poker! read more

*This review is for the restaurant only* In the most simple way possible, I will begin by explaining that this 3 star review is because the food/drinks were really good but the service was lacking... For the food: let me start off by saying every single pizza here is delicious since it's by Sammy's wood fired pizza. Wood fired pizza creates a great taste to the pizza crust. I personally I ordered the stuffed French toast and wow! This really surprised me! The bread is so soft and melts in your mouth. The stuffed part is fresh berries and whipped cream and had just the right amount. And lastly, the SYRUP is PASSION FRUIT (lilikoi !). Best syrup ever and is reminiscent of brunch in Hawaii. For the service: I'm sorry but the service (or people working) can really use some improvement. My party and I waited SO LONG for someone to take our order. When we told our initial waiter that we weren't ready yet, we didn't see another restaurant worker for almost 20 min! The restaurant area was not busy at this time. Then our waiter changed and it was a waitress who was unprofessional for a lack of a better term. When our table started ordering, she began writing things down on her wrist. Then she said "can I come back when I'm more prepared." ..... if you work at a restaurant, you should probably have a little book to write things down if you can't remember all at once. To be honest, the whole night was a game of waiting and feeling like we got forgotten about. Other than violating FEDERAL LAW ... this place could be great! We'll never know because they wouldn't let us in due to our service dog. Yes, a true service dog - he sniffs out and alerts high and low blood sugars for a Type 1 Diabetic. Nothing too important, just helping keep that person alive since we got the dog a few months ago. We were challenged by the first person at the door, who then called somebody else. The second person got all puffed up and you could tell their attitude was that they were about to slap down a couple of idiots who were trying to take advantage of them, and said something to the effect of "who is the secondary handler?" and when we didn't have an immediate answer told us that if this was actually a "real" service dog, that we should have known that, and therefore we were not allowed to come in. We've only had the dog a short time, and had never been asked that question. The company we worked with (Diabetic Alert Dogs of America) never specifically discussed this with us in those exact terms, so we weren't prepared for that question. And it shouldn't have mattered - BY FEDERAL LAW, it says "In situations where it is not obvious that the dog is a service animal, staff can ask (1) if it is a service animal due to a disability, and (2) what work/task has the dog been trained to perform." (I guess the big vest the dog was wearing, including ID that we tried to show them - even though that isn't a requirement under law - wasn't "obvious enough" that it was a service animal, and even though we weren't asked the allowed questions, we explained the entire situation to him calmly.) But still, hey, since this doesn't happen all the time, I'm not going to be a jerk - I'm totally fine if people ask questions to make sure it's not an "emotional support lizard" or whatever else I'm sure some people try to force on businesses to get into certain places - I get it. Bad apples ruin things for people everywhere. Once we calmly tell you it's a true service dog, again, to keep somebody alive and what tasks he performs to do that, and remind you what questions you're allowed to ask ... and you keep challenging us and ultimately deny entry, you've just broken the law. I was going to escalate this to the person in charge, but any time I do this, it's already ruined the whole thing for my wife, so better to just leave and let her be depressed silently instead of in public. So we left. By the way, we were coming in only to have some food since we'd heard some good things. I mentioned that so that the security guards wouldn't think that we necessarily wanted to have the dog at the gambling tables. I'm 90% sure that should also have been fine under the law, but there's a clause in the law about if the service animal will "fundamentally alter" the nature of the goods or services being provided. Maybe an argument could be made that a service dog could alter the service of sitting at a card table, who knows. Again, I made it clear that we were only to go to the restaurant, and pretty much the whole world knows that bringing a well-behaved service animal to a restaurant is 100% acceptable. Again, you want to gently challenge us, make sure we're not trying to take advantage, ask the questions you are allowed to ask under law, NO PROBLEM! But when you think you're an expert because you and your management figured out an ILLEGAL question to ask to "catch" the cheaters ... and we calmly try to explain the way it is to you and you still think you know better and you'll teach us a lesson, that's a problem. I'm in a good mood today, so I won't file a complaint with the US Department of Justice (or file a Federal lawsuit, which we'd win.) We may drop in again in the future, and I hope by that time you will have done the proper research (don't take my word for it, read about everything on the ada.gov website), and will put your ego aside. Otherwise, if we get denied again, we will file the complaint/lawsuit. read more

Came here last night for the first time since being back from deployment and I noticed they still havent fixed the huge hole in the ceiling over a couple tables on the poker side, and I've been on deployment for 18 months. Interesting that they can't make a simple fix like that considering how much money they generate. This place is still terrific for poker, as the action is unbelievable. It's a shame that each floor man women runs the room differently as they each seem to have a different set of rules, but they will always rule in favor of the big tippers, super shady. Lots of shady customers and employees in here too, I've seen employees taking shots in their cars while on breaks. Employees, clearly under the influence of narcotics while working, the list goes on and on. Don't count on security to help when the shady customers threaten you or try to cheat or break the rules, they have the most clueless and lazy group of guards I have even seen in a casino. I wish they'd clean up their act because this place has so much potential and the poker is great. read more

A little card room about seven miles from the Mexican border. They have poker, baccarat, blackjack among others. The only reason I come here though, the food. A while ago, I came across their chicken wings. Garlic, salt & pepper wings. OMG, crazy good. Before I tasted them, I smelled them! Truly heavenly! Had try them when I could. Inside the casino, there is a fairly good sized restaurant. They have booth seating, bar tables and seats at the bar. There is a fairly good variety of options from burgers to pho. Happy hour specials daily. But those wings! Oh, so flavorful! On my most recent visit, I wanted to try something different. Enchiladas created by Sam the cooking guy! What...., why not give it a try. I've watched the guy create some magic in the kitchen on his local tv show. They were pretty good. The chicken was full of flavor, but kinda dry. It looked like the tortillas were fresh then baked. Topped with cheese and chipotle infused cream. Some good flavors there! I also had a side salad and cup of their soup of the day (chili). The salad was ok. The chili was tasty! Most delicious! The Hummus w/pita bread was huge, and delicious! The lettuce wrap bowl bites were so amazing. Chicken inns sweet and spicy were a big hit with my guy. The Martini was good, came with 3 olives. Happy hour $2 off. My mojito was so-so. Maybe I'm not a big fan of mojitos. Plenty of mint. So can't complain. One of my favorite card game casinos in California. They recently lowered the minimum bet to $10 on their blackjack tables. The only problem with that is how lower minimums attract less-experienced players and outright idiots who shouldn't be allowed to leave their homes, let alone visit casinos. The dealers are nice. Some of the female dealers are attractive. I will admit that watching blackjack players hit on the dealers is annoying. I wish someone would tell these fools the dealers are being nice because they work for tips. For those reading this review, as a courtesy to your fellow blackjack players, be mindful of when you sit down at a table. Always ask the players beforehand. There's nothing worse than when an inconsiderate jackass ruins a good shoe. Unfortunately, it happens a lot. I haven't explored the menu, but I've tried a few dishes which were tasty but overpriced. California is expensive and there's nothing you can do about it. read more

we drove by this place by accident looking for a spot to have a drink and chat this Saturday afternoon, our party of 3 decided to give it a try, not only the view from the outdoor sitting was fabulous but the greenery decorations made it seem tropical and amusing, we loved it, kudos to our server, she was very professional and courteous and bilingual, thank you for the the recommendations, considering we had only Drinks and load of appetizers it was really good. we don't Gamble but his place was happening, pretty full.
