Swung in today with my boat to get some petrol. A friendly deck man signaled me in, tied my boat off, and took care of topping off my gas tank lickety split. We talked quickly about the weather, him warning me of what looked like storms on the radar heading our way...and he was right. I rented a houseboat from 7 Points Marina in August 2025. The staff were friendly, the boat was reasonably clean (though do note other reviews that mention bugs, inc. bedbugs), and we had a good time overall. The reason I am giving the marina a poor review is because of their hidden fees that, in my opinion, amount to dishonesty. My boat rental was $3,200. On top of the rental, the following charges were added to my itemized bill at the end of the trip when I returned the boat: $210.12 (5%) for "online booking fee". This booking fee was not mentioned anywhere on the website and never showed up on any of my receipts. But when checking out, the marina deducted this fee from the total I had already paid and claimed I owed more. When I asked about the fee, they said the 3rd party that runs their website had deducted this amount from the total already paid. When I informed them that (a) my receipts said I had paid in full except for gas; and (b) the fee had never been mentioned, they looked at the website and my receipts and agreed with me but basically said 'oh well. It is what it is'. This is a hidden fee and it is dishonest. $227.70 for gas. The marina is transparent in saying you will be charged for gas used when you return the boat. What they don't tell you is that the price of gas is at least 2x if not 3x the going rate anywhere else. Mine was $5.60 per gallon at the time. $38.60 for oil / hazmat. This fee was never mentioned. $160 "amusement" tax, which is probably required by the local municipality, but was never mentioned when booking and not listed on receipts until checkout. Another hidden fee. $206.32 state tax. $202.00 for rental insurance. When booking online, this fee is not optional and is forced on you even if you have other options for insurance. This is forced on you even if you have other options (e.g., coverage by an umbrella policy). $200 pet fee. This cost was transparently communicated on the website and receipts. The total cost was $4,444.74 -- a whopping 38% increase above the rental cost with much of that driven by hidden fees (e.g., online booking fee), surprise taxes (e.g., amusement tax), and excessively high pricing (e.g., gas that is 2-3x the going rate). Beware that if you book with 7 Points Marina, it will cost you LOTS more than they advertise. read more

The Lil Mo was a steep rental coming in around $2150 with fuel and oil usage, but for our bachelor party it fit the bill..and what a fantastic time. The pontoon was in excellent condition- clean and ran perfectly with no issues. The lake is beautiful and we made a lifetime of great memories- so it was worth it! We'll try to be back sooner and maybe do a fishing trip with the guys sometime after the wedding. Thx 7 points marina staff- very courteous folks. Wish the veteran status qualified you for the military discount, but unfortunately only honor the 10% off to active military and not retired or veterans that already served. Please consider changing that policy as it would help out that of us who honorably served in the past. read more

Our family started a new tradition 5 years ago of driving from our separate corners of PA for a day of boating on the stunning Raystown Lake. We are always impressed by the upkeep and cleanliness of the boats, the kind staff and the beauty of Raystown Lake. I recommend repeat boaters take the time to get your Boaters Safety Certificate so that you have more knowledge and when you have antsy kids waiting to get on the boat, you can bypass the mandatory training ​video. The one thing we forgot to pack this year that I wish the boats had on board is a first aid kit. That would be a great addition! My husband loves that the staff brings the boat in and out for you.. Less worry for him. If you need something mid-week they will run it out to you so you don't have to redock the boat. We rented a pontoon boat for the day with our 2 dogs and had a wonderful time. The marina answered the phone when I called at various times to book the boat, answer questions, etc. and were pleasant and helpful. They were the same in person and allowed our dogs into the building while we checked in/out. The boat was great. We've rented pontoons at different lakes and many times the dog friendly ones are beat up with torn seats, etc. This boat was perfect - speedy and comfortable. We had never been to Raystown Lake before and were surprised at how beautiful it was and though there were many crafts on the lake, it didn't seem crowded. We had a wonderful day with no stress as we drove to/from Pittsburgh for the day and spent around 5 hours on the lake. I love that you can dock almost anywhere on the lake so our dogs were able to get in a little swimming and pee time. We will definitely return, perhaps to rent a houseboat for the weekend. This is our 4th year renting houseboats at Seven Points Marina. We do so 3 separate times each summer, and I can't say enough positive things about the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, they're almost like extended family. The houseboats are well maintained as well. We particularly enjoy fishing while out on the lake. Raystown Lake is a challenging fishery, but even tied up to the shore you can still catch some nice fish like this 3.75 lb, 18.5 inch Largemouth Bass my wife caught last weekend. It's a great experience, and I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

Entire process from start to finish was excellent. No issues, staff very professional and friendly. Boat was in great shape, and very clean.

Staff members are very friendly and helpful. I wish that the gas pumps would stay open longer in the spring and the fall. Also, it would be nice if the marina opened in early April and closed in late October which would give the fishermen an extra month on the lake at peak fishing times. Could there be a smaller crew in early spring & late fall to accommodate the fishing members---getting the boats in earlier & leaving them in till October 31st with limited gas hours from ~11-2. I believe this was similar to the seasons & hours of ~25 years ago. read more

We rented a houseboat several times from 7 points many years ago and remembered it happily. This experience was quite different! The beds were very uncomfortable and impractical for adults, climb up and lay diagonal, toilet was a marine toilet you had to pump and would splash back in your face, had to run the generator to use an outlet, oven, coffee maker or ceiling fan. Tiny fridge and freezer w built up ice. The guys working the dock were very nice and helpful but we only encountered them when we turned the boat in, a day early. The lake itself has changed too, so many more people and we had a boat w multiple people pull rt in beside us in a cove and park! We said good bye to the lake as we left and won't be back. It's always a great time, we go to relax and do some fishing but if you are the more active type there is plenty to do! Okay, I don't understand the negative reviews. The people here at 7 Points Marina are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Every time we come to the lake we rent a pontoon boat and the experience has always and I mean always positive. They are informative and take the time to explain what you can expect and what's expected. Everyone needs to remember they have a job to do and that's to make sure that you, the consumer have a safe and enjoyable experience. With the priority being safe. Please let them do their job and you'll be the better for it. I've checked in very quickly at times and other not so much. But, that depends on the activity going on at the time. Patience prevails here and will make the process more enjoyable. read more

We just spent a long weekend on a 58' pontoon, rented from 7 Points Marina on Raystown Lake. It was an expensive weekend and it was worth every penny. There were four of us and the boat "The Raystowner" had two decks on either end, inside and outside dining tables, a large gas grill that was immaculately clean, a refrigerator, microwave, stove, freezer, couch and recliner. Off the deck, which had a 4-person hot tub, was a sliding board. There were four high end pool recliners on top, too. The top deck was accessible from spiral stairs on one side and traditional stairs on the other. Sleeping for 8 and fully air conditioned - with the option for open windows. Bathroom was very roomy with a full sized shower stall. The staff on check-in was on point, while being relaxed and engaging. They have large rolling bins to get your luggage and food moved quickly and safely. There is a walk through at the beginning and the end, both very efficient and friendly. Paperwork was in order and there were no delays. Swimming in the Lake was a 4+ hour a day activity. We moved from cove to cove and enjoyed the vistas offered by the very interesting shoreline. I logged some serious reading time, the others logged some fishing time. We enjoyed the hot tub each night, reminding each other of the details of ANOTHER PERFECT DAY. We all agree - we'd do this again in a minute... or as soon as the piggy bank swells. read more

After 20 plus years and some 11+ bookings with 7Points I have to say its not like it use to be. The expanse in itself is hefty but it dosent stop there. Inflated gas prices to fill the house boat after your vacation is done, some $300 for fuel n oil n taxes. This making some boat rentals over $3000 for 4 days n 8 people. Truely not worth the cost. Now lets talk ants, spiders and bugs. Forget it your going to get them n even after the spray for them. You will see hundreds inside and out. Raystown is a State gem but to have zero competition only raises costs for all of us. The Ary Corp of Engineers needs to help control costs and allow for more competition as well as onsite inspections weekly of these boats n post inspection reports on line. Sad to say I will not rent from SPM any more. read more

Beware - these houseboats are turned over so quickly that the housekeeping seemed non-existent. Counters and fridge with smears of food, toilet fixtures had urine buildup, the floors had been swept but the ground in dirt build up made walking in socks or bare feet impossible. Navigation and control panels and light switches gooey, the master berth smelled like cigar smoke and it was never cleared out no matter how much we cleaned and ventilated. We spent a good two hours cleaning before we were comfortable putting food in the fridge and moving into the boat. Just not the way we wanted to spend our time particularly at the cost of this rental. read more

They are not military freindly or professional.We paid in full up front because that is what they require and was told our military discount would be given at the end along with the $300 deposit for gas or what we didint use would be refunded. Nothing was refunded even though we only used $130 in gas. They are uneducated and can't do math.I would not recommend to anyone. Horrible place. read more

The Marina is impressive and their rentai pontoon boats are priced reasonably, They deserve either a 3 or 4 rating, other than the fact that they don't make clear that their marina doesn't have anything to do with the other facility - Raystown Lake Resort. They should put the details on their website for Pete's sake! It is all too easy to book a rental only to find out after the fact that you can't motor down to visit friends at the Resort or in any way combine boats from here with lodging from the Resort. No mention at all on their website FAQ - and this is quite deceptive "What people LOVE about Raystown Lake is that it is one of the few lakes that is not developed with homes and docks around the shoreline........what this means for our houseboaters is you have around 80 miles of shoreline (within our boundaries)". They should be clear and say - none of our boats are allowed beyond mile marker X- which means Lake Raystown Resort is not accessible. read more

The long version: We took a trip out to the SEVEN POINTS MARINA to spend a weekend on the breathtaking Raystown Lake. We rented a houseboat, It was fantastic. I can't remember the name of our boat but it was 58 ft., air-conditioned 8 sleeper. It had a fully equipped galley, 2 staterooms (nice size) and 2 cuddies. It had a large bathroom with full size shower, spacious front deck with table, chairs and gas grill, large back deck with Sliding Board and huge top sun deck with a Hot Tub. It had a large living and dining area. The boat was fat daddy! If you are going with a large group, I would suggest you be the main organizer......you can then rightfully call first dibs on one of the staterooms (the cuddies are a little small for my liking). The booking process was fairly painless. (make sure to book as far in advance as possible). The price was reasonable. (anything to do with a boating is always going to hit your wallet but if you split the price amongst family/friends, you are good-to-go). You can book a 3 Night Week-end or a 4 Nights during the Week. They have a 4, 6, 8 (and a 10?) sleepers. A few of the boats allow you to bring a dog on board. I would suggest getting a boat that includes a Sliding Board because that is fun as hell. (everyone in our group used it). However, we found that most of our party never ended up using the Hot Tub so unless it is a must, get one without the tub (it's cheaper). They require a $300 deposit to secure the reservation (non refundable for cancellation). The generator and engine gasoline tanks are full upon check-in; they are filled upon check-out; you pay for only what is used. None of the houseboats have built-in watercraft ramps but you can tow a watercraft (with bumpers) for use on the lake. We wished we would of brought a jet-ski with us! Also, bring a kayak with you if you want (something we also wished we did). The dock/fingers are huge at this marina. I have only driven (steered) small boats in the past so my buddy did most of the steering. Lessee & all drivers must possess a permanent Boating Safety Education Certificate from any state, or a Coast Guard certificate. If not, you may obtain a temporary certificate at Seven Points Marina during your check-in by taking a safety course at no additional charge (this is very common) I was surprised how turbulent the water seems when you are driving a boat of that size. At one point, I took over the steering for about 2 minutes but was quickly demoted back to a passenger status. So, you are going to want to make sure you are with a driver that has experience! Depending on how much fuel you use, you may have to go back to the dock to re-fuel (if you spend a lot of time cruising). If you do, you just call in your boat name to the marina to let them know; they have staff that will help guide the boat into the fingers (major props to my buddy Steve for his boating skills). If needed, the marina staff will navigate the boat out of the harbor for you and pick you up when your trip is over (eliminating the challenging part of houseboating: getting away from the dock and getting back in). We partied big time on this boat. We drank, BBQ'd on the grill, slid down the water slide over and over and swam in the refreshingly cold lake. On one of the days, we went onto land and did a little hiking. We went cruising up and down the lake. Each night we docked at a different spot. I would suggest that you don't tie up at any of the smaller islands, especially those with rocky shores, or your boat may drift sideways in the wind & you may get stuck in too-shallow water. Ask the marina for tips. Raystown Lake is one of my favorite lakes in Pennsylvania (2nd would be Lake Wallenpaupack). Raystown is a 30-mile long, 8,300-acre lake (largest lake that is entirely within Pennsylvania). It is beautiful....... just stunning ! The views from the houseboat of the surrounding hills on the shores of the winding lake are breathtaking. Since much of the surrounding land is owned by the Army Corps of Engineers, it is not available for residential development. So, the land is covered by trees all the way down to the edge of the water ! (no lakefront houses, 118 miles of natural wooded shoreline). There are numerous ways of experiencing everything Raystown has to offer. I would recommend experiencing the lake from both land and water. Maybe go boating one time then tent camping the next. Rented a houseboat from Lake Raystown Resort on 8/21/15, but reserved a paddle board through Seven Points Marina. As we pulled closer to Seven Points in our house boat reaching the no wake zone, a small boat carrying an irate female headed us off and immediately started yelling at us to leave. We asked her how we get our paddle board, she replied with, "I don't care, get out of here" and "I'm calling somebody and they will take your boat." We yelled back that "our boat is backing up so chill out, how do we get our paddle board from you guys." She then screamed, "that is not my problem." Unbeknownst to us, we must have walked into a turf war. We called Seven Points Marina and explained what had just happened; the person on the phone informed us that the crazy lady yelling at us was the owner of the marina. We understood that she didn't want us there, but to not assist us in how we get an item that we are renting out of her marina seems a little ridiculous. I can promise that none of us on the boat will ever return to Seven Points Marina and will, from now on, keep our money out of crazy lady's pockets. read more

Found this place to be very nice, clean and people friendly. My only issue was the unusual security of wanting to photo copy my drivers license to be a passenger on a rented boat. Then there was confusion as to whether I needed to pay $25 to park my car or not. I was given orders from different employees. The person I was told to see informed me as a person staying only until mid day I need not pay. But with all the previous workers stating a parking permit was required gave me pause while trying to enjoy my day on the lake. I worried I would be ticketed or towed because of misinformation. My family has a cabin in the area and frequents Raystown Lake. This week alone they rented a pontoon boat twice, and generally use the marina for multiple rentals throughout the summer. This morning as we were loading our rental, we questioned if there were any newer boats, as my parents generally rent the smaller yellow pontoons. The staff informed us that all the boats were rented, so we took the older boat which was actually very comfortable for the five of us. It had some aesthetic damage, like dents and paint scrapes both on the body and prop, but we weren't that concerned. After spending the morning fishing, we decided to tube, water ski and swim. At this point we discovered that the ladder on the back of the boat was broken, giving us no way to get back on the boat from the water. If we wanted to get back on the boat, we had to drive the boat to shallow water where we could climb up on the deck. Because of this, we didn't do as much swimming and couldn't tube or ski without major inconvenience. We didn't think we had any options as we were told that all of the boats were rented. We were also way out on the lake at this point and nowhere near the marina. When we came back at the end of the day, we told the staff that we were disappointed that we didn't get to do any water sports due to the ladder being broken. We spent $450 on the boat with the expectation that everything would be in working order. We assumed they would discount our rental price or not charge us for the gas. They responded by telling us that if we had a problem with it we should have returned to the marina with it and they could have given us their 'backup' boat. We told them that we were told the boats were all rented so didn't think that was an option. They then told us that there was paint chipped off the prop which would cost us $150, but since the ladder was broken, they'd consider it a wash. We asked to see the prop as we had inspected it prior to departure. It looked the same as when we left. It was clear that instead of being apologetic and providing good customer service, they had looked for a dishonest way out of the issue. The staff told us that next time we should take pictures of all the scrapes and dents and dings to avoid being blamed for them upon return. Not only is this unreasonable, but nearly impossible given all the wear on that particular boat. As people who spent close to a thousand dollars in their marina this week alone, we expected better customer service and boats in good working order. read more
