This year was our first year checking out the apple harvest festival at Graves Mountain and it did not disappoint. The views were so beautiful and the weather was perfect. There were so many great vendors to check out as well. My son was so excited to ride the ponies and get in the bounce house. We tried the apple wine and cider, both of which were amazing. We stocked up on candy apples and enjoyed funnel cakes by the stream while listening to the live band. Everything was so delicious! Some of the food and beverage prices were a bit high but it's expected at a festival. I do recommend printing off directions to and from as signal is abysmal. We will definitely make this a yearly event for the family. If you're planning on picking your own apples though, you won't be able to do that here.

Upgraded sitting areas this year! So nice!!

Beautiful views, helpful reception desk, family owned, animals, great rocking chairs everywhere. Waterfall hikes less than ten minutes away. Firepit in the evening so bring s'mores supplies. Really cute and well stocked gift shop. Watering holes everywhere! Lynn and Lucky are such gracious people. Remembered us from years prior and greeted our family. So thankful for such a special place so close to DC.

$60 for a 90 min ride Was a beautiful experience Beginner rider friendly Instructors were friendly and informative Loved that they were all female riders Horses of all sizes and they are all beautiful, well kept We were grateful to have ridden on Kate & Sam :) We did wish the ride was a bit longer, and there was more to see but still grateful for the opportunity. And loved it regardless x thank you

Always have enjoyed this respite from DC. Wonderful views everywhere. The hotel lodge is super. Kick back with a book, on one of the rocking chairs. The pool and trout pond are decent. I like the change of pace here. All of the staff are friendly. The rooms to sleep in are clean, comfortable, and modern with smart TVs and WiFi. Have stayed in some unique spots, and this one's a classy one. The stars at night are incredible on a clear night. I think this is worth every cent, and already look forward to returning here. Trout fishing and horse riding is available at an extra cost.

Had an amazing time at the Apple Harvest Festival here. We came up from Richmond, VA to spend the day doing all things apple related. We were able to enjoy apple butter donuts, fresh apple cider, a hayride through the farm, pumpkin and apple picking, artists tents, apple butter making, live music, and more. As a Virginia local, I'd highly recommend checking out the festival once. I wish we came a little earlier because they were offering horseback riding around the farm. We still really enjoyed our time here. There was a lot to explore. The hayride really showed us all the beauty of the farm. I loved the farm animal section and the apples growing on the trees. There was something for the whole family at this festival and the pricing was reasonable. They offered a corn maze, face painting, and pony rides for the little ones. I'm really happy I had a chance to check the Apple Harvest Festival out!

Wonderful experience 1/2 day Fly Fishing Lesson for my wife and me in celebration of our 32nd wedding anniversary! Tim Lewis was an exceptional instructor and guide, teaching the basics of fly casting followed by practical application in both the pond and river. Tim was very knowledgeable, unbelievably patient, and extremely encouraging. Highly recommend giving Tim a call to schedule your own fly fishing experience.

Graves Mountain campaign is always a great option for riders and families. Everyone is so kind and helpful and we absolutely love bringing our ponies up. This last weekend we had no idea that there was a motocross race going on, both days, in the orchard and the mountains. Had we known we would not have brought our horses for obvious reasons and not bing able to ride where we love most. maybe we missed it on the website but nowhere did we see anything about it. We will absolutely be back but next time we'll be calling to find out what activities are in place besides our beautiful peaceful camping spot.

I have been visiting Graves Mt. Lodge regularly to stay & dine for nearly 40 years. The Highlight was their delicious country style cuisine meals shared family style to a typically full house at tables seating 8-10 guests. After the huge meal, the best part was hearing other folks' adventures on the mountain. No longer. That is over. This past Saturday, after driving an hour and a half to Graves, we were greeted by a nearly empty restaurant. Only tables now are for 4, widely separated, Covid-style. The once copious country style meal has been replaced by a pitiful menu with a choice among 4 "who cares" sandwichs. The "best" listed was the hamburger. A HAMBURGER!!! For $20.00. No kidding. I felt disappointed, ripped off - we will never be back.

We stayed at campsites 30, 31, and 32, which are at one end of the campground and feel more secluded, farther away from the other campsites. This means your car is not right next to your site, but we didn't mind walking back and forth (slightly uphill, along a path); we recently bought a collapsible utility wagon that was super helpful in carrying big things to and from the site. The sites sit higher above the river, so it's a bit steep if you want to go down and enjoy the water, but you can do so carefully and it's well worth it. You will love sitting by your fire, listening to the rushing river and feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere, even though many luxuries like flush toilets, hot showers, and even a camp store are just steps away. No need to bring ice or firewood; the camp provides them at an added reasonable cost (but bring an axe to help break up the logs in case the wood is damp or fresh). Bring a grill-top for the firepit if you plan to cook. Keep in mind that the campsites are not very large; ask AJ when you book if your tent will fit. There's plenty to do in the area: Hike Crabtree Falls, taste beers at Devil's Backbone or Blue Mountain Breweries, enjoy ciders at Bold Rock, and next time we'll try the distilleries. Crabtree Falls is definitely my favorite campground in all of Virginia!

We have only stayed during the fall since there is no A/C but I can tell you that during the cooler nights the base board heat keeps you very warm. The constant sound of the creek right outside your window is soothing and a great change from a busy life. There is absolutely NO cell service so be prepared for that. Some super sweet camp cats! No big RVs or trailers (generators are allowed during designated hours, but we've never really found it a problem -- no RV, no generator for your A/C or DirecTV necessary). You get the feel of backcountry camping with the conveniences and amenities of a maintained campground. Plus friendly, down-to-earth, old hat co-campers. On one visit two adorable little boys were pulling a Radio Flyer around selling firewood collected on their family farm. Mellllt! There are only 31 sites here, so Lewis Mountain typically fills really early on weekends. Any weekend, not just busy ones. Your best bet is to show up Thursday evening/Friday morning (you're still lucky to get a site then...) or to come in the middle of the week. Lewis Mountain has a store, laundry facility, and showers on site. Laundry and showers are coin operated. There's a camp store for necessities. You can also rent one of a few cabins on the grounds. A great, private campground most easily accessed from 33 at the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station. Signs at the entrance stations will tell you whether the campground is full yet or not.

Warning: only two power outlets in the tiny home cabins, no WiFi or TV and you probably won't get more than two bars of cellular service here, although it's probably a good thing. Each cabin had a fire pit and at least ours also had a grill rack on top so my girlfriend was chefing it up out there every night. Close by to Shenandoah National Park/Skyline Drive and they have several hiking trails within the site. They were very quick to respond to texts although twice they forgot to come by to deliver things such as fresh towels, coffee and paper towels but after I reminded them they came within the hour. Be warned, every individual cabin has its own hot water tank, so space out when you shower and use the sink and toilet and keep it short. There is only one sink (in the kitchenette) so you will have to brush your teeth in the kitchenette sink or in the shower itself if that's your thing. Each window has blackout curtains to ensure total privacy. We got a cabin towards the end so it was probably more private than others. We were very surprised to see a s'mores kit, coffee, mosquito repellent wipes, three bundles of firewood and fire starter that came complimentary with our booking. We are now very big fans of Postcard Cabins and will likely check out their sites in different areas of the country, I highly recommend giving them a shot.

We discussed the customer service aspect that this whole experience was lacking. The original issue was not the lack of a transparent policy, of which we had followed all rules, it was the automatic assumption that we had broken those rules based on limited evidence and without contacting the customer directly. Then the resulting customer service experience was a failure because instead of returning my phone call, I received another email that again was not informed by any discussion. I am glad the issue is resolved and hope that this situation will help promote a better experience for others in the future. Last update: Marriott did attempt to call me back yesterday but I was not available. I still have not spoken to a manager, nor explained anything from my perspective, but as a "gesture of goodwill" the charge was removed. Updated review: With no call from a manager and without them asking for additional details, I received another email that said that "our team is trained to distinguish between residual outdoor fire smells and odors associated with tobacco products inside the cabin" and the charges stand. I once again called to speak to a manager and one is not available. I am supposed to receive a call back "later." To be clear, this is not about the actual nominal charge, it is being charged when we do not smoke and are being accused of smoking cigarettes or other tobacco products inside the cabin when in fact it was fire smoke, without the benefit of asking for any details from the customer.

You need to walk about 50 meters, but the short trail to the campsite is well maintained and so was the campsite. It was very clean and flat for tent set-up. There are toilets walkable from the campsites. I don't like that the showers are elsewhere, next to the camp store. You will have to drive to the showers. It's $5 for 10 minutes. At the camp store, you can buy some fire starters, ice, wood, and a limited selection of snacks. Campsites are $30/night and get booked up months in advance.
