It is absolutely unbelievable and embarrassing the way Severna Park Bowling Alley has gone downhill. Other bowling alleys in the area have done updates, remodeled, and have great customer service. This location, in a very nice area, is the worst. We paid for an hour thinking it should not be hard for 4 people to get in two games. First, we get handed shoes that are HORRIBLE. They were dry rotted and coming apart - we had to ask for new ones. Like - can you see the condition of these shoes before you hand them to a customer? Then, they said they would check to make sure the lane was cleaned up. Well, there was no trash, but the table was disgusting and WE had to get napkins and water and wipe it off. Then the box to put your names in to start the game didn't work and we had to go TO the desk to have them enter in names. Hardly any ball size variety - lots of 8 and 10s but that's it. Then the bumpers were up from the last people who played and we had to go up and ask them to remove them - they aren't even electronic. They had to walk over, walk down the lanes and put down the bumpers. THEN, our lane was SO SLOW. People next to us on both sides were finished their second ball before our first one cleaned up the pins. So, with no one taking any breaks, we got in one game and 4 frames. We complained so many times, I wasn't asking for more time to finish our game. We decided we will NOT be back to Severna Park unless they get friendlier staff and upgrade their facility. I'd rather drive further to Crofton where everything is updated than bowl here again. It actually deserves ZERO stars. read more

Terrible customer service, no need to have that munch attitude when you are working at a bowling alley. All I did was ask for a time estimate for a lane to be open after waiting over an hour. The manager was standing right next to the worker who was being disrespectful and rude to me and did nothing, I immediately walked out after that. So disappointing when people can't even have common courtesy for other humans. Let me start out by saying if I could give this place a 0 star review, I would. I am a recreational bowler who probably goes 2x a week and this place is an embarrassment of an establishment. I have been bowling there for 7 years, spent thousands of dollars, and I've had enough. This place has gotten embarrassingly worse over the years, and the management and owners make it considerably worse. First of all, the lanes are atrociously maintained. As seen in the photo below, our display control panel was broken completely. No battery even in it. Second of all, our lane had 0 oil on it. My ball was darting off the lane halfway down. There wasn't an ounce of oil on ball after it was returned. For a bowler, that is unroll-able. The man who works the front desk for the majority of its days is a miserable human being. He constantly has a rude demeanor and is a complete jerk. We have asked him to switch our lanes numerous times, including today and he either blatantly refuses or budges after a heated encounter. Our lane malfunctioned so many times I wasted 1/5 of my time there waiting for the lane to reset the pins. Not only that, but I had to reshoot multiple times because it would not register. On top of that, the arm that is use to clear the pins came up in the middle of my shot 10+ times and my personal bowling balls were physical effected from the impact. There is now multiple cracks on my surface. The lane conditions and the amount matinence put into them is seriously nothing short of an absolute embarrassment. There is never an ounce of oil past 2:00, the management and owners are a complete nightmare, and the food and food staff are absolute garbage. I've never seen anything there be cleaned even once. Just for insult to injury, the bowling shoes people are forced to pay 7$ for don't even have soles or linings in them and they are incredibly uncomfortable. To the ownership of Severna park lanes, you should sell this embarrassment of a business and fire the manager. Again, if I could give this 0 stars I would. read more

Duckpin lanes have been messed up for over a year, balls don't return with enough speed to get up the ramp to the ball return. Pins don't set properly & fall over regularly. Belts are bad and pins/balls don't clear the lanes on their own. Owner knows/has known and makes no efforts to fix problems. League's are not as important to the new management. New management came in 2023 they put in all these kid games (first) not focused on the leagues who are a guaranteed income for the bowling alley, and purchased $6k for duckpin bowling balls (less than a year ago) and most are damaged beyond use. Poor choices. Alley balls, the fluorescent ones, get stuck on returns, AND have trouble with returning. New management has certainly made some big and costly mistakes. Smh read more

Health inspectors need to shut their kitchen down. They violate so many food safety principles such as cross contamination, sanitation, employee hygiene etc. The staff is rude! No upgrades to anything which shows how little the owners care for the place. read more

This has been one of the top bowling alley experiences I've had in recent years. It's still one of the few that still offers duckpin style bowling as an option along with ten pin. The staff has been very personable the three times I have gone this year. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. Weekends can be fairly busy with crowds, but it's as to be expected. read more

Recently had my sons sixth bday party here. The manager greeted us and they were all set up and ready to go. There was a slight glitch and they had us as regular bowling rather than duck pin and they moved our setup quickly. Overall it serves its purpose as our local bowling alley. It has several lanes, duckpin, food options and the prices are reasonable. Frustrations- The Staff. The older gentleman struggles with Friday and Saturday nights. Easily frazzled with the walk ins for glow bowl 9-12am. Glow bowl- hot topic! No one seems to have a clear answer on how to properly get a lane on Friday or Saturday nights after 9pm. We've once successfully called 2 days in advance to reserve a lane for glow bowl. Then a week later, we did it again, but were told no reservations, just walk in and we'd be fine. We got a lane- no prob. The next time I go in with my son and his friends, arrive at 8:35 as previously instructed and am told glow bowl is full and we wouldn't get a lane. How is it full at 830 if there is no reservation and walk ins aren't taken until 845-9?! We ignored the request to leave and waited it out, and surprise, we got a lane after 9pm. Of course this was after the lady who walked in behind me (all adults) requested a lane and recieved without reservation immediately. Laughs were shared by several of the folks waiting for a lane and the general concensus was rhe gentleman running the show had no rhyme or reason to his selection of who got a lane. He probably didn't enjoy my kids trying to put money into the broken arcade games. We've gone back since, but are smarter now! The trick is, if you go in-person before Friday or Saturday and reserve a lane face to face, they will take a deposit of $25/50 and reserve a lane for you! Sure it's annoying and a very 1980 way of doing things, BUT I'm just happy to avoid the arguments with the grouchy old man that is easily frazzled by the glow bowlers "rush hour" The Arcade- don't even try to give them money for this. Only half the machines work and if you want to cash in your tickets, you have to count them yourself first lol. Then you tell the very young employees which prize you want from the electronic prize machine that is also broken, and he will open it up for you. Lol. Can't make it up. Lastly- the concessions. The food is what you'd expect from a bowling alley. Plentiful beers to chose from but for some reason they don't allow tipping on the beer side. The employees would be so much happier if customers could add a credit card tip! read more

Our daughter celebrated her 15th birthday here for millennium bowling. We were really impressed with the service. I can't speak highly enough about the staff. All of the employees were kind, friendly, and happy. It seems like management is doing a really good job hiring. Even the food was better than I would expect. Pizza wasn't too shabby. Onion rings were great. Mozzarella sticks were great. Chicken tendies were great. The kids scarfed the fries before I tried any. Highly recommend. Online states galaxy bowl 11pm-2am Saturday - $4.75 bowl rate and we are told no we changed to 9:30-12. Why not update your site? We show them and told by a older lady "that's not my problem" can you atleast honor the $4.75 rate and she says "no". This place has lost so much. We had a really good time at Severna Park Lanes. For a Friday night, it was mildly packed. Initially when checking in, they told us a 5 minute wait, then changed their minds and gave us a lane. No biggie either way. Checking in was a bit confusing though, I've never been to a bowling alley where you play and then pay when you're done. It's nice, but odd. Staff was friendly enough. I wish they were more engaged. We were next to a bunch of lanes with tons of out of control kids and mothers more interested in gossiping. Which would have been fine if they stayed in their area, but the kids kept running through our lane area, sliding all over the place, etc. Would have been nice if staff would have attempted to corral them. Prices were average for typical over-priced Maryland. Wouldn't stop us from coming back. Lanes were clean, well functioning, shoes clean. Snack bar is frustrating. Cash only, but not mentioned anywhere obvious, didn't find out until after I tried to pay, then had to run back to the S/O to get cash. The vending machine prices are outrageous. $2.50 for a bottle of water. I must've missed the memo that bowling alleys now act like theme parks. We did the 10-pin bowling, but they offer duck pin bowling which is nice. Overall, we'd definitely go here again. read more

I've come here several times for galaxy bowl and normally love it and have never had a problem. However, at my most recent visit the staff refused to accept military IDs because of a new policy. This in itself, while annoying, was not the issue, but rather the staff were extremely rude to us when we asked for clarification and their reasoning. Everyone in our group was 22 or older, and we all had both licenses and military IDs to prove it, however the staff still refused to serve us and we're very rude about it. read more

Unless you're on a league, don't bother. We've stoped by on pretty much every day of the week, only to be told there are no lanes open due to leagues. While leagues are great for regular bowlers, that's just absurd on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday evening. According to their website, there are leagues every evening of the week. Our family has been going to here for years and sadly today will be our last time. The employees ruined a family birthday party. My sister does not care for cake so we have a tradition of having doughnuts instead of cake for her birthday. A manager came to tell us no outside food was allowed and we were puzzled because we have had plenty of birthday parties for other family Members there in the past, where we brought birthday cakes no problem. We explained that the doughnuts were her birthday cake because she does not like cake and they would not budge, they said no outside food EXCEPT on your birthday and ONLY cake or cupcakes. They continued to argue with us and even sent over a second manager to argue with us some more. It boarded on harassment honestly and it was difficult to even enjoy our time. They were unwilling to look past their policy and see that they were ruining someone's birthday. Any other decent human would have understood and asked that we please not do it again. Been going to this place for months and never had problems but tonight they decided to implement a new rule that they will not accept valid military ID for alcohol purchases. Maryland state law says it should be accepted at all establishments but, that doesn't apply here anymore. Will be going to Annapolis bowl from now on where they support the military. read more

They have duck pin lanes. What more needs to be said? It's clean, big, and well maintained, and the staff is pretty on the ball (no pun intended). We used them for our 6-year-old's birthday party, and it was a huge hit with the kids and the parents. They are very experienced at handling this kind of event, and it showed. Let me give you an example. The very first thing that happened when we walked in the door -- our 2-year-old woke up, started to cry, and threw up. Yay. The attendant got us napkins immediately and made sure we were OK. Extra points for speed. So onto the bowling. They had the lanes set up and decorated ahead of time, and even had this weird ball launching rack thing set up for the really little kids (perfect for 2-3 year olds). The older kids had a blast too. Pizza, hot dogs, soda, and ice cream were part of the party package and were about as expected -- not bad, not great, but hot and quick. Party price was reasonable -- about $150 for 3 lanes for 2 hours, shoe rentals, and food for like 15 kids. We went there for the duckpin bowling with our 2-year old. We should have called before hand because we could only bowl for half an hour before a league showed up. Which was OK, because it was our first time. Our daughter wasn't all that interested for an entire, but we liked that she was able to be able to pick up the ball. She needed our help giving power to the ball; twice the ball didn't make it all the way and an employee had to fetch it. They did so without making us feeling bad about it. When we were done, they asked how we liked it and answered questions about duckpin bowling. They encouraged us to come again by giving us free game coupons! YAY! The place is clean and bright. We were just there last week, and when we walked up to the counter, there was no one there. We waited several minutes just for the older man to not greet us but just stare at us. I spoke and asked him for what I needed, and again, he didn't speak. He pointed to the shoes behind the counter, so I was confused because I knew I shouldn't be going behind the counter, but I could have since he was just staring without speaking the entire time. One of the lanes kept malfunctioning, but we still ended up paying full price and received no apologies. When checking out, once again, the same man stared without communicating. The attendants are extremely rude. I want to love this place because I live in Severna Park, but after our last visit we will not go back. The attendants were clearly annoyed that I was not sure where to check in and gave me an attitude from the beginning. We waited over an hour for a lane and the attendants kept calling others that checked in after us for lanes. At first they told me it was because they requested a different type of lane, but watched those people go to traditional bowling lanes (what we were waiting for). We live very close to this establishment and booked our children's birthday parties here when they were young. But after our recent experience, we won't be going back. They have a young staff who have no clue regarding the placement of customers. We were there at a time when there were lots of empty lanes. We're both older, and were having fun spending time with our college-age daughter. Despite the fact that there were other open lanes, the staff chose to put a young family with stair-step kids, ranging from a toddler to perhaps 3rd grade right next to us. They had no concept of courtesy - it was all about them. They slid around a dinosaur ramp for the kiddies and the parents even backed into our lane area a couple times. They bowled or moved the ramp around just as we would start to bowl. Our scores went right into the toilet. On the way out, we complained to the staff and their response was "If you were unhappy, why didn't you ask to be moved?" Seriously? WE had to move? The kid behind the counter was about 19. We were on our second game. Why was it OUR obligation to move? Very rude staff! But this is the "new America", folks. It's why people build home theaters. We would pay a lot of money, go early to a 3-D theater, find prime seats in an open area, and then some group would come in, sit behind us, and their kids would constantly kick the backs of our seats. When we complained, the response always was "If they're bothering you, you can move to other seats". Right. WE'RE the bad guys. read more

My husband and I played duckpin bowling, and we had fun! The duckpin lanes are automated, which they aren't usually, so that was cool. Plus, there aren't many bowling places that do duckpin lanes. Prices are standard, shoes a little tight, but OK. Nice atmosphere. We saw a lot of families there and little dinosaurs for the little kids to roll their balls, so this is good for families, too. Went with my friends, one being in the naval academy and myself being a police officer and was denied alcoholic beverages because my boyfriend, who is the age of 23, had a state of Connecticut drivers license and was denied an alcoholic beverage because the license was vertical and not horizontal. The license is valid but our state allows us to keep our licenses until they expire. Employees were rude and at first said it was ok for him to drink and then said it wasn't. read more

I'm only giving them 1 star because I can't give them 0 stars. I went in there with my uncle and father when I was in town seeing them and went to Severna Park Lanes and had an absolutely horrendous experience. I got there with my family and we found that there was a deal in which you got unlimited bowling, also drinks and pizza for something like 65.99 which is something that interested us, this lead this to try to ask someone about it. After waiting for something at like 10 minutes at the counter (when one employee looks at us and listens to us and completely ignores us) we finally had someone to talk to us. We tried to get the deal and the people at the counter kept saying it wasn't possible right now even though we didn't mind either normal bowling or duck pin this kind of upset us but we still sat down for an hour of duck pin. This is when we really started to get upset when myself and my dad went up to buy some beer and maybe get a pizza. The lady at the front told us only cash when we only had a card we sighed asking where the ATM was she rudely communicated to us. We walked around trying to find an ATM which we did then we tried to get money out to be able pay for us drinks and food. The ATM didn't work and we are very hungry also thirsty we walk back to the counter where the food and very rude woman was. We ask if we could just use our card at the front and get some cash there. She yells at us saying we are "unreasonable" by just asking if we could get some cash for the food. My dad and I sit in defeat, my uncle goes up and gets the same response. We end our bowling to pay and it was 64.15 for the one hour of bowling we didn't get pizza or drinks (which was 65.99 only a dollar more than what we spent and you got two hours of bowling with that too). I hated my time here and would recommend NO ONE GO THERE!! Save your money or go somewhere else to bowl. read more
