I needed an alteration of my wedding dress, because it had a train and I didn't plan on switching dresses during rehearsal. At first, consultation of what I wanted done went smoothly, so smoothly in fact that I was sure that it was going to be exactly what I wanted. A few weeks later, I went to try on the alterations and the back bustle button wasn't as high as I wanted it to be, so I had them alter it again. I told them exactly where to put it and to keep it the same design only higher. I came back and picked up the dress and thought it had been fixed for my wedding day, which was weeks away. When I went to try on my wedding dress the morning of the ceremony, let's just say I had a panic attack. The bustle wasn't where it was supposed to be, in fact it was so wrong that it looks really bad! Yes, I shed tears that morning because of it, and my saving grace was a family member with a sewing kit who was able to sew together everything where I wanted it to be. I am leaving this review just so that if you're looking for alterations here, be mindful that you need to do this months and months ahead of time so that every detail is perfect. I'm not sure what happened, but it felt like my words weren't heard or lost in translation when I asked for help second alteration. I didn't ask for the money back I spent, only because my wedding day had come and gone and I am not someone who wants to fight or have confrontation. Seriously overpriced and when I asked questions the employees contradicted themselves several times. The one employee had to be continually asked to come over to help and each time she reluctantly with a miss grumpy pants attitude persisted in just being rude and unprofessional. I was promised my alterations by mid June. I called two weeks later and they haven't even started my alterations. I was told they have too much work and too few seamstresses. I hope the moron owner gets a clue and stops accepting new projects until then can fulfill their obligations to existing customers. this place used to be much better. now it seems they are typically unavailable for actual service. they have limited hours and you currently have to make an appointment for alterations. fair enough, but they are sometimes closed during their posted store hours, as i discovered recently after driving there. or, in another instance, during posted business hours in which the store was purportedly open, the entrance was locked, although workers were clearly visible inside, and a sign was posted instructing prospective customers to call for an appointment. this place is also on the expensive side compared to other sewing and alteration services i have used in boise. long waits, in my experience, for alterations to be made, as well. on the plus side, if you can get in and are willing to pay their inflated prices, their work is pretty good, and they have a convenient location near the boise river south of downtown. read more

I took in two pairs of pants to be hemmed. A simple, everyday job. Stupid me, I didn't try them on at the shop when I picked them up. When I tried them on at home, I found that they'd made me two pairs of high-waters. I'll have to end up turning them into shorts. Mind you, it took them more than a week to screw them up. read more

I called for a quote to make my daughter a duvet cover. Over the phone I was quoted 40-50$. I brought the products in and explained I wanted a vary basic duvet as my daughter is only 3. Nothing fancy. A pillowcase with buttons was my description I believe. I was told I'd get a quote via email. I was sent a polite email explaining my project would cost me 215$. When I questioned the price she was apologetic saying whoever gave me the quote must not have known their pricing. I picked up my items right away. I found a place called As You Wish Clothiers (where I had an exceptional experience) in downtown Meridian. They made exactly what I wanted for 26.50$! The point of my review is either this places is grossly over priced or they decided to price gouge their way out of a project/job they felt was below them or just didn't want. read more

I met Erin (owner) in the beginning of the year with a rough prototype that needed a lot of help to get to retail quality as a travel accessory. It's my own invention and Erin took on the challenge to figure out what was wrong with it and make it better. She took my prototype that I had and recreated a new one using some better materials. She also changed the way it was constructed to greatly reduce the cost to manufacturer by simplifying it, which also greatly increased my yield per square yard of material (better profit). The prototype I had given to Erin was initially done in Los Angeles by several people that had really impressive resumes and not to mention really impressive prices. But when I took my prototype to manufacturers and introduced my gadget to the Travel Show in Las Vegas, they all said that it still needed a lot of work and gave me a list of all of the problems. I'm mentioning this because I never mentioned these problems to Erin. I wanted to see what she thought on her own. Well she saw all of the same problems and more which gave me a lot of confidence in her abilities. When she was done with my prototype, I couldn't believe how amazing it looked. It was day and night from the prototype that I had brought to her. I now had my first real sample. I then asked her to grade it for me (create a small, medium, large size) which again was a challenge because there wasn't really any references to go off of, but she pulled it off the first time! I asked her how she did it, she said she used math, that made me happy being that I'm an electronics engineer. After that, I had her draw out the pattern and sewing instructions for each size to give to my manufacturer. Who by the way has been really impressed with all of Erin's work. Production starts next week and I'm so excited to finally have product worthy of selling thanks to Erin and her staff! Erin's prices were very reasonable and I know it was money well invested. Erin is a great problem-solver and extremely motivated to do well. She has the type of personality that I needed to make this happen quickly which is kind of rare in my experience in this industry. I took a suit jacket and two pairs of pants in to get altered, they promised me a month to get them done, then were a week late on getting them done. I showed up and they only altered one pair of pants, and did not offer any discount on the quoted price even though they quoted for two pairs of pants AND were a week late. I really enjoy supporting the mom and pop places, but this is one that i will not support again. read more

Went in to have a suit jacket tailored but was initially turned away because she said it would look funny due to the button location (or something like that). I appreciate that kind of honesty especially if it means them turning down money. Eventually had to have that pants worked on and they did an excellent job. Took a full week to get them back which seemed a bit long, but I suppose that's better than rushing. Very nice people, would highly recommend for future work! read more

I am extremely disappointed in the service that I received at Sew Boise. I took a bridesmaid's dress in and needed to have the hemline shortened by about 3 inches. When I returned a week later to try it on, I immediately noticed how terrible the stitching was on the dress. The stitching on the outside of the dress was uneven, coming out, and skipping stitches in several places. The stitching on the slip cover inside was white and didn't match the color of the dress, and again was uneven, coming out, and skipping stitches in several places. I spoke to the employee who altered the dress and she was not even remotely apologetic about the situation and instead simply stated "Oh well, that's just how the fabric of the dress is." Although the owner was present, they would not even come speak to me about the situation and instead told the employee that they could try to re-sew it. The owner didn't offer me any sort of discount and wouldn't come out and apologize to me in person about the situation. I will never come back to Sew Boise, or recommend this store to anyone. I basically paid $75 to have a dress mangled. If you don't want an expensive formal dress to be ruined, DON'T COME HERE. read more

What fantastic service. Took a jacket in to have patches put on the sleeve and had the jacket back the same day. I had not given any instructions so the patches were put on to military specs, and needed to be re positioned. I emailed Erin and she said to bring it back in, The next day I brought the jacket in and they re positioned the patches while I waited. The price and turnaround time was less than any other shop in the valley had quoted. read more

There is parking around the back of the building so pick up and drop off is easy. They are very nice and I was happy with their work. I dropped off 2 pairs of work pants to be hemmed and they were ready to be picked up in a week. They also texted me when they were ready, which was a nice reminder. read more
