Sexy Steak absolutely delivered. From the moment we walked in, the place had a wow factor. Being inside the historic Grand Army of the Republic Building gave it so much character, and the soaring ceilings, chandeliers, and overall design made it feel upscale and memorable. The service was excellent all night. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and made us feel taken care of without being overbearing. Even the details stood out, including the stylish jackets the servers wore and the beautifully designed bathrooms. Food-wise, everything was on point. I had the ribeye cap with a lobster tail, and it was an incredible combination. Perfectly cooked, rich, and full of flavor. We also shared the crab cakes, mashed potatoes, and truffle parmesan fries, and every dish was delicious. The margarita was so good I had two, which probably tells you everything you need to know. Loved my experience last night at Sexy Steak. The lobster scampi was a standout! the noodles were incredibly flavorful and perfectly done. Service was great, and the ambiance really set the tone for a nice night out. The espresso martini was a bit underwhelming it tasted a little weak and didn't feel house-crafted, more like a pre-made mix. I didn't get a chance to check out the upstairs area with live music and the bar, but I'd definitely come back to experience that next time. Overall, awesome menu and a spot I'd return to. We had reservations but there was an open door at the bar so we chose to sit there instead. The two bartenders were amazing!! It was incredible that they were so young and so wonderful at their jobs! Had such a great night at Sexy Steak! Our reservation was at 9pm and we didn't get seated until about 9:40, but the manager came by, let us know they were running behind, apologized, and even brought us a drink while we waited -- which we really appreciated. Food review: * Ribeye - 10/10. Perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. * Pasta - 10/10. Rich, flavorful, and one of the standout dishes of the night. * Corn - 9/10. Really good. * Shrimp cocktail - 8.5/10. Fresh and tasty. * Mashed potatoes - 5/10. A little bland compared to the other dishes. * Creme brulee 10/10! What a magical dinner! My husband and I came to Sexy Steak to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We made reservations in advance, which I highly recommend. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. This was our first time at Sexy Steak. The building looks like a castle! Once you get inside, the attention to detail will blow you away! We were seated at a table in the center of the restaurant. Our server greeted us and acknowledged our anniversary, which is a huge plus for me since we put it in our reservation notes. We started off with cocktails. My husband's old fashion was smoked and so delicious. My margaritas was on fire and went down too easy. For appetizers, we started off with grilled oysters and waygu pastrami. Omg! So so good! Everything melts in your mouth. It was hard to pick what to get for dinner since everything looked and smelled so good. Since it's a steak house, that's always a safe choice. I was craving mushrooms so I went with the mushroom risotto and added filet steak tips. The risotto was sooo hot (temperature wise). The addition of filet tips was perfect. The food is consistently phenomenal. I've tried the Mignonette Oysters, Fritto Misto, Caesar Salad (served tableside), Pasta Carbone, Bone-In NY Strip, Filet Mignon, Truffle Parmesan Fries, Baked Mac & Cheese, and Sautéed Corn. Every single dish has been spot on. The steaks are perfectly cooked, the sides are rich and flavorful, and the Caesar Salad adds a fun tableside touch. And the housemade spicy ketchup that comes with the truffle parmesan fries is phenomenal -- I seriously wish they sold it by the bottle! Service is always great, too. This is an excellent special occasion restaurants. I went for a friend's birthday celebration. Valet parking is available. Reservations are highly recommended. First things first, the aesthetics are amazing. The outside of the building resembles a castle and emulates royalty. Once inside you can't help but be impressed by the floral wallpaper, neon signage, and contemporary art. There are two levels each with a bar, booths and dining tables. The service is exemplary. Waitstaff are very attentive and the table side Caesar salad preparation was quite the show The food is hot fresh and tasty. The steaks are top tier and the mushroom risotto is chefs kiss. The cocktails were visually appealing but nothing to write home about and seemed kind of on the weaker side. I came here to celebrate a special occasion with friends. We were seated upstairs near a large party that felt very casual, which was surprising given the restaurant's dress code. The ambience and décor were beautiful from the outside entrance to the inside details. The overall vibe was romantic, chic, and sophisticated, which really set the tone for the evening. For my meal, I ordered the Rib Eye Cap Steak which was good. I also appreciated our server's knowledge of the menu and their ability to explain gluten-free options clearly. My friends tried the lamb chops, truffle fries, and chicken. They enjoyed the flavors overall, though one mentioned that the chicken could have done without the prosciutto on top. I did have a side of carrots which were good but parts of it were not fully cooked, it felt like they rushed preparing it. While the food was decent, I felt it could have been seasoned a bit more, especially considering the high prices. For the cost, I prefer dishes that stand on their own without needing adjustments. The drinks were also underwhelming, much too heavy on citrus and lime juice with little strength, so I wouldn't order them again. Another downside was the service pacing. Even though we were simply enjoying conversation like the larger party nearby, our table was approached four times by different staff with, "Are you done?" This made us feel rushed, which is not the experience I expect at this price point. Overall, I'd give this restaurant a solid 3.5 stars. This is most definitely a "treat yourself" meal. We came here for my husband's birthday with some friends. We had drinks, I got the Sophia Loren drink which had baby breath in it. The Smokey old fashions were a real hit for the husbands. We started with oysters, the wagyu pastrami, which came out Smokey, and the calamari, which was my personal fave. Then we did table side Caesar salads, which were very good. I liked the croutons but wish they were a little smaller. Dressing was very tasty. For dinner, my husband and I split the surf and turf. Our friends got the wagyu steak, I believe. The Australian lobster was amazing. The steak was a little on the small side for 10oz but we had many sides so we were fine. This place had been on our list for a while, but could never get a table. We tried making reservations online for an early dinner, but nothing was available. My fiancé called and ensured them we would stay for dinner but be out without an hour and a half. We secured a spot and were very excited to try out a new spot. Walking up to it, the restaurant itself is in a beautiful old building. We were greeted and led upstairs to our table. We ordered a belissima and an old fashioned to start along with shrimp cocktail and oysters vinaigrette to start. The drinks were amazing and the appetizers were fresh and devine. If this was the start of the meal, we were really looking forward to our mains. I ordered the petit filet and my fiancé ordered the roast beef as his main dish. We couldn't believe a place like this would put this in their menu so he thought it was to be absolutely delicious. He was right. The flavors were unimaginable for both dishes. We were wanting more, but we had an early dinner to stay out and have fun. We were finishing our meal and the manager came by to make sure all was at our top expectations. So we give the drinks a four out of five. We came and took our drink order within the first five minutes of being sat down, drinks came out quickly, and they were we're good and made correctly. Nothing exceptional, but good. They took our order quickly and here's where the evening started to unravel. From the time we got our drinks and they took our order. It took over an hour to get a salad and appetizer. They were not busy. What else seemed unusual about the experience is they attack on a 20% gratuity, which seems to be pretty standard these days but we did not have a set waiter or waitress. It seemed like whoever was available or wasn't doing something came and took care of us as opposed to one consistent person. So sometimes you'd have people come over and do the same thing back to back such as bringing forks at separate times, it made you feel as kind of an afterthought. Then, with the salad, they make a big deal on the menu about the Caesar salad being prepared tableside. What they don't tell you is that if you only get one Caesar salad salad that that doesn't happen, you have to order a minimum of two to get that service. Getting a single one does not lower the cost of the salad. It just becomes an expensive ass Caesar salad. Before the main course came, there seemed to be another service gap. And then stuff didn't come out together. So the side that we ordered came out about 10 minutes before the main course, and then the extras for the main course came out before the main course. For a place that headlines and stake it was the most unusual steak I've had in a long time. You're paying premium prices at an independent steak restaurant, and the state comes to you sliced up like you would do with fajitas or a cheaper cut of meat. The steak that I received did not resemble or taste like the cut of meat that I ordered. Felt like there was a baiting switch. If you're truly serving premium stake, you don't need to Chop It Up to make it seem better than it is. So we gave the Service a two out of five. It was slow very disjointed in the order they brought the food out, and how long the gaps were on a night where the restaurant wasn't busy. The food itself I give a two out of five as well. For paying premium prices at what supposedly one of the better stake houses in the city, it felt like I was eating something maybe a half grade above Ponderosa. Just with extra salt and truffle butter. Based on how the previous part of the evening went, we passed on even looking at the desert menu. The restaurants in a great location, really cool historical Detroit building. It's just the vibe is a little weird, the staff wears these hideous mismatched jackets. And they play weird loud music. Had a great time with the company I was there with. Just with all the amazing restaurants in the city don't see myself going to this one anytime soon. read more

All I want in a steak is salt, pepper, butter, garlic and maybe a hint of rosemary. Theirs tasted like they use basil, and some other herbs. That overpowers the meat and puts you in the mind of something other than a steak. Also for $79 a steak should taste the part. The sides were delish, carrots, mashed potatoes and truffle fries. Caesar salad was Amazing! Ordered some chargrilled oysters that were horrible as well. Parmesan crust on top is too hard and the crabmeat taste more like canned crab than succulent lump crabmeat and I would know because no one knows about crabs better than someone from Maryland. Definitely not the most revealing thing we witnessed in the dining room... definitely an uncomfortable start. From there, things improved markedly. The dining experience is lovely and service is excellent. Complete with some weird but fun decor and a nice view of Joumana watching out the window. The cocktail I got was solidly good and I went for the ribeye cap, which was very tasty if not maybe worth the price tag. The Caesar salad was one of the best bites, despite the croutons being a bit sad, and the fries were delish. I will say their cocktails run $16-18, which is reasonable for Detroit. I did ask for a Last Word at the end of the night - nothing special. A Detroit staple. For that they billed me $27... which left a bad taste in my mouth. All told, salads, steaks, cocktails, two sides to share - came out at $330, which was just too much for what we received.
