    Beets salad

My friend and I visited Olin on the evening of 7/30/26. When we entered the restaurant we were graciously greeted by Adrian who was also our server. During our visit, there were very few other diners there. Adrian was professional and very attentive. When asked about menu items, he shared his honest opinions and made recommendations. At Adrian's recommendation, we started with the Feta wontons which were delicious! I also thoroughly enjoyed my Jumbo lump crab cakes. We also shared the beets salad which was also very good. We enjoyed our evening at Olin and would definitely return.

We were looking for someplace new to try before a show at the Fox and this place popped up in Yelp. We were able to get a reservation pretty easily on a busy Friday night downtown, but we were there early, which was good, because it filled up pretty quickly. The seasonal menu was a bit different from what we saw online, but a lot of the same choices were still there. We decided to focus on sharing several of the small plates offerings: Caesar salad, homemade focaccia, whipped ricotta and crab cakes. The salad was pretty bland, plus we ordered it with shrimp, which they forgot, but later brought over (and deducted it from the bill, which was nice). The focaccia was excellent, as was the whipped ricotta. The crab cakes were fine - it seems like they are the same at most places. Gabby was a great server and did an awesome job taking care of us and many other tables. I also enjoyed the overall vibe of the place - it has the cool, urban vibe that Detroit needs to have more of.

Came back and it was just as good as we remembered. The burger is one of the best burgers you can buy in metro detroit. Service is excellent. The place is very cute and vibey. We love Olin!!

This review is simply for the Olin burger! I've heard amazing things about this burger and trust me, it did not disappoint! It was absolutely delicious. Smash burger with caramelized onion, Boursin and American cheese, Dijonnaise was over the top flavor poppin'!!!! It was served with perfectly cooked fries! Wowza...is all I can say!

Olin is such a neighborhood staple, one of those spots that just hits every time. The burger was unreal (pictured because it deserved the spotlight), and the oysters were perfectly fresh. I meant to grab pics of the rest of our food but, honestly, it was gone way too fast -- always a good sign! They've got one of the best happy hours downtown, with a wide drink selection and plenty of small plates and apps to choose from. Whether you're coming for cocktails after work or a full dinner with friends, Olin never disappoints.

They're now open for lunch and I'm so glad! The food and service is so good here, and you can sit on the patio while it's still nice out. I had the steak salad which was large and fresh with perfectly cooked steak, the roasted pepper soup, and we split the chicken wings. Everything was top notch and the soup and wings came out super hot, just the way I like. We were in and out in an hour as well - perfect for a workday lunch. Highly recommend.

The food was fantastic. The burger and the steak were cooked perfect and truly delicious. The drinks were well balanced, and very good. Also service was nice.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and have heard rave reviews about the burgers. Maybe it was too hyped up? But it was a let down. It definitely wasn't bad, it just wasn't great, and was mediocre at best. The meat was not seasoned at all (I added salt which did help) and the overpowering cheese left little other discernible flavor. Instead of fries, I got a side Cesar salad, which was good. The dressing was very tasty. My dining companion got the gnocchi with pork belly. The gnocchi was very tasty, though extremely rich. Unfortunately, after eating her meal that night and leftovers the next day, she felt queasy each time. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant itself is beautiful. However, with the price point, I expected more.

Imagine that I am clapping between these words. THE. BEST. BURGER. I'VE. EVER. HAD. Period. The food, the drinks, the service, the ambiance. It is all above and beyond any expectation. First of all, the service. My server, Samantha, was patient with my questions in trying to figure out what I wanted to order. She was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. She gave me some recommendations and I ended up really wanting the potatoes appetizer but the burger came with French fries. Concerned that it would be too much potatoes, she was able to make it possible to sub my fries for the potatoes. I also ordered the "Don't Touch Mai Drink" which was extremely tasty as well. So the potatoes bravas. Amazing. They're crispy and buttery, packed with flavor and a generous portion. And the short rib burger... mmm... just thinking about it is making me mouth water. It is so juicy, the only thing I left behind was a plate of leftover juices. It may have been a touch too greasy but that's what a good burger is supposed to be. It most definitely has that smashburger texture and taste. You 100% need to come here and try it yourself. This will forever be the meal I will crave for years to come.

It was a lovely restaurant with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The bartender was exceptionally friendly and attentive, and my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there.Food was decent.

Came to Olin yesterday for my birthday. The restaurant is open, modern and comfortable. We were sat in a booth which was huge, could have easier sat 6-8 people. We ordered drinks and apps. We got the don't touch mai drink, and the strawberry margarita. Both were very tasty. For apps we ordered the house made foccocia bread, mushroom pate, smoked whitefish dip, grilled bok choy, and the potato / artichoke app. The pate, fish dip, bread and potatoes were great! All had great flavor. The bok choy was bleh, didn't really have any flavor. Wouldn't recommend that, and I love bok choy. For entrees we got the burger and shrimp pasta. Burger was good, and had good flavor. The fries were confusing. They were COVERED in something white. Looked like either salt or Parmesan cheese but when you ate one it tasted like nothing was on it. Very strange, but I think it was parm that had no flavor. The pasta wasn't great, there was barely any sauce on it and the sauce that was in there had little to no flavor. We got creme brûlée for dessert which was amazing. Overall service, drinks, apps and the restaurant itself is great. Entrees we got were kind of lack luster. I would come back for a happy hour, or for drinks and apps.

I loved the focaccia bread as a starter here! I didn't think that the rest of the food was worth the price but the wait staff was very good. The gnocchi was just ok as well as the beet salad. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and was fairly easy to get into on the weekend so that is a plus.

The theme was "Yes, Chef: An exploration of culinary icons through a cocktail lens." Each drink was inspired by or dedicated to a famous culinary icon, and you can read about each one in the index. We each ordered one drink from each section. From the Opening, I chose the Diaspora Club, which was so refreshing and delicious. Then from the Principals, I chose the Chingona, which was a little bit spicy and savory but still so refreshing. To Finish, I chose the Chocolatier Cosmo, which came with a tiny house-made salted dark chocolate. I loved all three cocktails I ordered, especially the chocolatier cosmo because it was perfectly sweet and went so well with the small piece of chocolate. For food, we started off with the crispy pork belly milk bread. For my entree, I ordered the miso butter gnocchi. It was kind of on the salty side but I still really liked it. The apple sofrito added a bit of sweetness to it. For dessert, we had to get the rhubarb coffee cake, which came with strawberry ice cream. Omg one of the best desserts I've ever had!! I never thought of combining cinnamon coffee cake with rhubarb or strawberry but it's perfect, and I might have to make something like that soon. Service was great and we were seated right away at 8pm on a Saturday despite not having a reservation. Food and drinks came out promptly and timed perfectly. We spent about 1.5 hours here and we never felt rushed.

I returned to celebrate a friend's birthday; we had the experience I expected during our first visit. I arrived early for our reservation, and even though it was a Friday evening, I was able to secure the best seat in the house: a corner table by the window, great for people-watching. The upscale restaurant is nicely designed. There are short, plush booths and small tables by the window. I loved the modern pendant lights throughout, suspended from diamond-shaped architectural elements. Windows on two sides of the restaurant let in the late summer light. We started with unique beverages: a cocktail for my friend and a mocktail, Make it Snappy, for me. I savoured the taste of snap peas ("snappy", get it?) and orange blossoms in the drink as we caught up with each other. Then the parade of dishes began. We started with the Roasted Eggplant Toast and the Seared Octopus. We could not get over the medley of eggplant, pepper, and cheese flavors. They blended so well together. The seared octopus was paired with briny olives and toothsome garbanzo beans. Next up, my friend had the seared sea scallops, served with thick slabs of bacon, whereas I had the filet mignon, rare. I usually never have filet as I prefer the ribeye or NY strip cuts. However, the steak was tender and well seasoned. We enjoyed our entrées with some of the best-prepared fries ever and Lion's Mane mushrooms. Despite the large portion of fries, we made a huge dent in them because they were, as I said, so well prepared, crispy and tender. For dessert, I had the trilece cake (tres leches cake), and my friend had the chocolate and espresso torte. Both were exquisite. I was delighted with my cake and also enjoyed the intense cardamom flavors of my friend's. Service was flawless. The bartender/ server was friendly and professional; he made great recommendations.

While the carrot salad was good, I would skip next time in favor of trying something else. Similarly, for my main, I ordered the crab and saffron risotto but did not really like it. Our waiter noticed and asked me about it, so I was honest and said it was probably my personal taste so no worries but he insisted on taking it off our bill. After being closed a year the new owners opened it back up as a craft slider "bar". There is nothing fancy about this restaurant. Its decor is basic wood tables and chairs in the center with booths lining one side of the space and a bar on the other. The staff are casual about you being there - there is no fanfare. When we arrived, we checked in at the host stand to get our names on the wait list. They text you when your table is ready. The place was full when we got there but the turnover was quick. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes and were seated in a booth. The menu is all sliders on one side and fries, salads, and sweets on the other. Fairly simple and the prices are beyond reasonable. The server told us most people get 3 sliders and fries. I did that plus I got a Moscow Mule to drink - it was only $5! I chose the Double Cheeseburger, Spicy Crispy Chicken (with a slice of provolone added), Olive Burger, and the Truffle Fries. Everything is served as soon as it's made so your items arrive at different times, which was fine by me. Each slider was served in its own cardboard "dish". Again, nothing fancy. The Olive Burger was really good - served with green olives and cheese on top of a beef burger. I liked the saltiness of the olives - it added to the total taste in a positive way. The Double Cheeseburger was actually pretty big so I would just get the single next time. And the Spicy Crispy Chicken was recommended by our server. He suggested adding the provolone slice, which I did. That was basically a buffalo chicken sandwich. And it was good! The truffle fries were excellent - you could really taste the truffle seasoning/oil. I also liked that they were the skinny type of fries. This is the type of independent restaurant I'm always looking for - one that sticks to its theme and does an excellent job of it. I'll definitely be back!
