[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super small restaurant with a large patio for warmer weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Order at the counter and they'll bring your food out to you. After eating, back to the counter to pay. I recommend reservations based on the amount of customers I saw come in. We had 9 people in our party. Everything looked good and tasted good too. Wait time was a little long depending on what you ordered but there were only 4 people working; Chef Omar who worked the crowd for 1/2 the time we were there (it was cool to talk to the chef), another chef, the waiter/counter person and a support staff person who cleared tables and help bring out food when the counter was busy. I'll be back to try more items P.S. : this restaurant is Halal - no pork or alcohol for those who don't know.

Service was excellent especially considering there were only 2 people running the restaurant, one of which was the chef! We were welcomed, thankfully got a table (we came before the lunch rush- reservations are recommended as it's a very small restaurant), & the Chef took the time to go over the entire menu with us (despite being busy). You will have to be patient at this restaurant, so don't be in a rush;) We wanted to eat small but had to try some dishes and were so glad we did. We started off with the Bissara Soup (crushed fava beans, garlic, oil, cilantro) which was really delicious. I wanted to try more of the vegetable dishes so I went with the Zalouk which was a smoky eggplant & tomato "dip" that came with some freshly fried pita chips & a side of the Charmoula Slaw. My husband got the fried fish sandwich which he loved and I enjoyed some delicious bites also. There are several other (award winning) dishes we will come back to try (The Tomato Dip, Beet Salad, Brussel Sprouts, Chicken sandwich etc...)! There is plenty of free parking since there is a parking lot behind/next to the restaurant. If you turn in right in front of the restaurant, there are about 2-4 (?) parking spots but it's really tight there since the front doors swing out so next time we will just use the lot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Right now during winter, I think they are only seating inside the restaurant (maybe 5-6 tables) but we noticed the outdoor vinyl panel space which definitely extends the restaurant during the warmer months.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm glad we finally came, we will have to plan a trip back soon!

A true hidden gem in Detroit. We had a large group with different orders so I had the opportunity to taste almost everything on the menu. And every item delivered in an incredible way. The flavors in the dishes were so perfectly balanced and unique in the best way. The highlights were the potatoes and lebneh. For my entree I had the collard green tagine. It was amazing. I can't wait to come back! The service was great and the chef was so friendly and great to talk to.

You should come here as soon as possible!! Every single bite was delicious and bright. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is small with a patio and a couple of seats inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order at the front and they will bring their food out to you. The front staff is happy to answer any of your questions. They have a large list of dry bar options! I've heard they are planning and building out a cocktail menu but as it stands there is something for anyone. The harissa potatoes were my favorite bite of the night! Crispy and spicy. Yum! I got a veggie bowl and it was absolutely delicious. The collards were briny and brought such a freshness to the bowl. The meatball sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich both looked amazing. The lamb bowl was also a big hit at the table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside patio is casual and a bit noisy but it is nice enough to spend hours chatting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is friendly and willing to answer every question. I'll be back soon!

My husband and I both agreed that this is the best dining experience we have had. Chef Omar took the time to explain the menu in detail. He was really friendly and we could tell very passionate about cooking. This was apparent with all the unique flavors and freshness of the food. We started off with the Harrisa potatoes, the perfect amount of heat & softer on the inside & crispy on the outside. 10/10. We also had the Moroccan fish sandwich, the seasoning and crunchiness of the fish & the accompanying Chermoula slaw was lemony & delish! Next the lamb tagine - I don't even normally love lamb but the braised lamb shank was so tender and the spices in the sauce were so tasty. The lamb shank came with a vegetable cous cous with was a modern take on a Moroccan classic. We sampled the Moroccan carrot salad which is zesty with a vinegary kick and the harrisa chili crisp which Chef Omar let us try. I love spicy food and this was wonderful to dip out bread in. My husband ordered the Orange Blossom lemonade which was such a neat combination and unexpectedly delicious. Last but not least, the Bread pudding. Yumm. It was a great way to end our meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio is really cute and has a heater if needed also.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My hubby is Moroccan and though this is a modern and unique take on classic dishes, we both absolutely loved it. We will be back & it's worth the 3 hour drive when we do return. Also the restaurant is halal and a ton of non-alcoholic drink options. Chef Omar is a two time nominated finalist for the James Beard award & if you visit this restaurant you'll see why. Thank you for a wonderful experience & we enjoyed meeting you.

My friends have been telling me about this place forever and it finally reopened so we had to check it out (with them, obviously). [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is very unassuming and it would be easy to drive right past it. There are only 3 tables ish inside and a few on their enclosed patio, and it's very cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is very Moroccan, but I wouldn't say the food is entirely reflective of Moroccan cuisine[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (yes, I've been there). With that said, the food was fantastic. I had the chicken sandwich which seems to be a popular menu item, along with the harissa potatoes. The sandwich falls apart easily and can get messy but it's worth it. I would come back for the potatoes any day of the week. Get them! My bf got the meatballs and they were really good too. There's no alcohol or table service by the way. It makes sense because it's so small but I definitely would've preferred a server. We will be back!

We dropped in to try out the fare at Saffron De Twah on a warm Sunday evening. Lucky for us, it was not too busy and we were able to snag a seat on the patio. We tried a few dishes (it was difficult to choose!) and we liked everything we tried. I am not a "sweet sauce" kinda girl, so if I tried the Moroccan Chicken again, I would ask for the sauce (maybe honey?) to be skipped. Not positive what it was but thankfully it was just a hint. The fish was amazing and the roasted potatoes gave off this gentle warm heat. Not too spicy (even though I enjoy spice) they were just the right amount of warm. The slaw on top of the sandwiches was very flavorful and Chef Omar made sure to stop by each table and say hello. That was a nice touch! We can't wait to go back and try some of the other items on the menu.

Can't recommend this place enough! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The indoor is just a few tables with a nice sized patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu has a few items but everything is cooked with care and excellence. The harissa potatoes were cooked to absolute perfection. Crispy, seasoned well and a great portion. The fish sandwich had a great crunch with the slaw being a perfect balance. The owner Omar came out to talk to us and was so nice and made the experience even more memorable. I will be back!

Great dining experience! The chicken and fish sandwiches were a great introduction to moroccan spices. Both were super juicy and I would like to come back and explore the other dishes! Service was great and personable as well. Recommending this my friends and family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't let the exterior fool you, it is very cozy inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I could write about this place for days and days, and it wouldn't do it justice. So I'll do my best to give you some of the highlights. Currently it's reservation only. The inside of the restaurant is VERY SMALL with just enough space for a few tables. On the other hand, they've added an outdoor(ish) area that's covered with possibly triple the seating. In the winter, it's fine? There's plenty of space heaters but I imagine the space will be nice come spring. The food tho. THE FOOD. I was really happy with every level of my experience. My friends who had been there before sang epic tales of the chicken sandwich, but sadly it's no longer offered on the menu because, I quote, it was "too powerful" (aka the demand was so high they couldn't be expected to keep up and maintain quality). But the owner did say he was planning to offer it on special occassions. The potatoes blew my mind. They were so incredibly tasty. The lamb tagine tasted fantastic, though I had a bite of my friend's fish tagine, and I might go for that next time. I had quite a few bits of my partner's apricot chicken tagine and it was so tender. For dessert, I reaaally enjoyed the tahini hot chocolate (which reminded me a lot of the kind of hot chocolate you'd dip churros into in Spain). There was also a bird's nest custard sort of dessert called the Mouhlabia. I wouldn't say that was a runaway hit with my friends. Some people liked it or didn't. It has a very mild flavor so expect it more as a palate cleanser than a sweet dessert. The owner and our server were incredibly nice and attentive. I also appreciated that the owner talked us through the menu and described the restaurant's commitment to remain accessible to locals (despite the fact that they could easily be charging far more for their amazing food). This place is fantastic. It's catapulted to one of my all time favorite places to eat when I'm in Detroit, and I'm planning to take all of my out of town friends here. Ugh. I made myself hungry again just writing this.

I am the only customer inside for lunch today. Some food delivery pick-ups and the DoorDash ding going off in the background. Ordered the molokhia soup, lentil soup, combo mazza with fattoush less pita instead of the salata masria, feteer chicken shawarma and side of falafel. $49.78 They are out of the Fakhfakhina drink, sounds interesting with the strawberries, ice cream, sounds kind of like a float. I couldn't try a taste of the molokhia soup to see if it would be good or not. I have no idea what Jute is, had to look it up. It's a green leaf soup. I went with the feteer chicken since it's a light breading vs the hawashi. The lentil is extremely runny, doesn't taste as expected, rather subtle flavors, mostly bland. Some rice as filler. Comes in a small cup. The falafels are shaped like small donuts, they are crispy, but the inside is soft. They aren't too bad, just mostly taste the oil from the fry session more than the chick peas. Super light and crunchy though. The roasted eggplants are food, has a nice kick to it. The hummus is super smooth and a tad runny, reminds me of tahini sauce. The fattoush is okay. Could use some sumac to flavor it up some. The cucumbers are too water logged, tomatoes aren't ripe and lettuce is wilted. The Molokhia soup has a rather slimy and glutinous texture, it's quite odd. Not for me at all. Comes in a large bowl. The waiter waiting on me is eating behind the checkout counter after he dropped off my last dish. The feteer is an Egyptian quesadilla. Cheese, tomato, green peppers, black olives and chicken shawarma. It's good with the hummus or the garlic sauce. The feteer is definitely worth the I felt like the experience for me was very much transactional.

Supergeil is a reliable go to, good quality, reasonable prices, and great service. I'll be back for their patio season.

From the moment I walked in, the ambiance transported me to a beautiful Mediterranean garden, with its gorgeous tiled floors, lush greenery, and warm, inviting atmosphere. It felt like a refreshing escape right in the middle of Detroit's historic cobblestone streets. It was the perfect setting for a long-overdue reunion with my sorority sisters, and Supergeil was incredibly accommodating, hosting our group of 14 women in the middle of Grand Prix weekend without missing a beat. We kicked off the evening with a few appetizers to share, including the hummus, deviled eggs, and meatballs. Everything arrived quickly and was an instant hit around the table. The standout was definitely the hummus, served with fresh, homemade pita that was unbelievably soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The meatballs were also delicious, perfectly tender, juicy, and well seasoned. For my entrée, I ordered the popular lamb and beef döner, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The portion was generous and beautifully presented, overflowing with crisp vegetables, fresh lettuce, garlic sauce, hot sauce, and the most tender, savory lamb and beef. Around the table, others enjoyed the Turkish ravioli with spiced beef and pork, more döner, and a variety of salads. Everyone loved their meals, and we couldn't resist passing plates around to sample a little of everything. It's the kind of restaurant that's perfect for sharing and enjoying with a large group. And what would a girls' night be without cocktails? If you're a fan of Two James spirits like I am, you're in for a treat. The bartenders create incredibly inventive cocktails from a seasonally rotating menu. I stepped outside my comfort zone and ordered the Open Kettle, made with coffee infused Doctor Bird Rum, cola reduction, coconut cream, and Underberg. It was unlike anything I've ever had! It was rich, tropical, complex, and with just the right kick. It's an absolute must try. Another crowd favorite was the Purple Gang, featuring lavender vodka, lemon, and butterfly pea tea, which gave it the most stunning purple hue. To finish the night, we ordered all three desserts to share: the burnt sugar tres leches, strawberries and cream, and the hot brownie with cinnamon ice cream. My favorite was easily the tres leches. It was light, creamy, and perfectly balanced with the crunch of burnt caramel and the subtle sweetness of coconut, it was a creative twist on a classic dessert. The warm brownie with cinnamon ice cream was pure comfort and a chocolate lover's dream, while the strawberries and cream offered a lighter finish with sesame brittle and hibiscus, creating a unique combination that reminded me of an elevated granola paired with a glazed donut cream. From the beautiful atmosphere and attentive service to the creative cocktails and delicious food, Supergeil delivered an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're planning date night, catching up with friends, or celebrating with a large group, it's definitely a spot worth adding to your Detroit restaurant list.
