I had to come to Seymour's Cafe as I was out at the Mall in Short and they are less than 10 minute's away. This is a unique 5 star restaurant that is worthy of a visit by Guy Fieri if he is still doing road trips for "Diners , Drive Ins and Dives". All I can say is you have to try them. It's worth the drive! They put a different spin on everything they serve. When you walk in, you may think it's a local deli that you go for a take out breakfast or lunch. Then you see the tables and all the customers sitting there. They have everything you could want from coffee, teas, juices, smoothies, sandwiches paninis, poke bowls, pancakes, waffles, breakfast and lunch dishes. You can tell that they have a ton of regular customers, that are very loyal. They also do catering, and even though I live in Brooklyn, they are willing to deliver to me. Today I met some amazing people at the restaurant. Congratulations to Carlos who is a new manager. He is a US Army Veteran who saw combat action and I hope everyone will thank him for his service when they visit. Carlos really cares about his customers. When we entered we were greeted, he started up a conversation and checked in on us throughout our meal. Victor was our server and he made great recommendations. He was also very friendly, we also met Melvin who was a runner and made sure the food came out promptly with all the accoutrements. Today we started with the blueberry pancakes. You get two large pancakes that are as big as the dish. They had blueberries inside and outside, whipped cream and maple syrup. Probably the best I've ever had! I had the apple, lemon, ginger juice which hit the spot. We also had the tuna poke bowl and the shrimp fajita bowl. The ingredients and fish were fresh and plentiful. I might have picked the wrong day to visit Seymours and ordered the wrong item from the menu. I had heard great things about the place and was eager to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience fell flat. The breakfast quesadillas and potatoes were lacking in flavor and felt a bit overpriced. Seymours is a very small restaurant that appears to always be busy. They have outdoor seating available during the spring/summer months which is a nice option. They have a lot on the menu for it to be such a small place. I couldn't have had a better experience here at Seymour's even if I tried. Walked in Sunday morning close to 10:30am. We waited for a table for 2 for about 10 minutes. We were then seated with Nicole who was the highlight of our brunch experience. Nicole was attentive, friendly and efficient in everything she did. By the end of our visit we felt as if we were family. Besides the outstanding service the breakfast was equally wonderful. We ordered the short rib omelette, stuffed Nutella French toast, bacon and we also tried the overnight oats. The presentation was beautiful as well as delicious. Recently, while waiting for new tires to be installed on my car at Livingston Tire down the block I took a walk to Seymour's Cafe to have breakfast. It was ok, but nothing more. All the tables were filled, so it's clearly popular, but I found the food to be nothing more than average. I had the Classic Benedict for $15.99, which was pretty much what you'd expect, a toasted English muffin with two poached eggs, Canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce. It came with hash browns. I can't complain about the price. I don't think you'd find it for less anywhere else. As for the taste, any Benedict comes down to the quality of the hollandaise sauce and theirs was pretty much just tasteless yellow goop. The rest of the dish was prepared well and in hindsight I would have been much happier if I just ordered eggs. The hash browns were identical to what you'd get at McDonald's, which for me isn't a bad thing. The service was friendly, if not super attentive. The tables are close together and for me the restaurant felt a bit claustrophobic. I think with places like Seymour's Cafe it comes down to what you order. I wouldn't recommend anything with hollandaise sauce, but other dishes might be better. read more

I appreciate the wide range of coffee that is available. If you order an iced coffee, it will come with frozen coffee cubes instead of regular ice that you would typically find at, per se Dunkin. I have tried many menu items and would recommend all except the omelets. Not sure why but in the recent years the omelets that my friends and I have eaten here are lacking in seasoning? It is kind of cramped in Seymour's on the weekends-- it is a kid friendly cafe and can accommodate groups of ~4-6 people I believe. I ordered delivery the other day for lunch and I was exceptionally impressed with the food. I got a pesto burrata steak sandwich which was exceptionally flavorful. I will dare to say: The BEST brunch in New Jersey! My best friend and I googled nearby brunch locations after attending a fundraiser. Seymour's Cafe was the first to come up. We are so glad we found this gem. Upon entering, we were instantly greeted by the Hostess, Nicole. There was a wait to be seated. Nicole suggested we look at the menu and order so that our food would arrive at the table with us. We ended up being seated rather quickly and we had the blessing of having Nicole take care of us for the remainder of our stay. Nicole made several suggestions when ordering which greatly enhanced our meals. I ordered the avocado toast platter with feta (comes with two fried eggs). I was able to substitute French fries for the home fries due to my allergy to onion. I also ordered the fresh squeezed pineapple juice. Our food was absolutely delectable. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the avocado had just the right amount of seasoning. The multigrain bread was light and tasty, without that cardboard taste - just as Nicole stated. Stopped for a quick bit to eat this morning (Saturday 8/2) well it was anything but quick! There were two of us, we both ordered eggs over, fries and rye toast. Additionally I added Taylor ham to my order - no big deal. After waiting a long time we asked where is our order. Turns out the order was entered on their handheld device but the waiter never hit send. The fact that that happened does not surprise me at all. The place was extremely chaotic with workers tripping over each other; everyone so eager to help that in the end everyone thinks the other person is taking care of you and in the end nobody took care of us. We ordered two waters, someone who we had no interaction with had an extra water on his tray, saw we didn't have any and left one. The person we ordered the water from thought we now had water so didn't bring any. I do have to commend the chef / manager. He personally came over apologized for the screw up and then had a complimentary plate of fruit ( which was fresh and delicious) delivered to our table as an apology. Because of how the manager handled the situation, I will try this place again but maybe just not on a Saturday morning when they are so busy. read more

This place never disappoints. The omelette was not oily at all. I opted for hash browns instead of home fries and no bread. I got a ham omelette no cheese. And a decaf coffee with cream. I added flavor syrup myself. Coffee is very good too. And they open nice and early, even on a Sunday, unlike another place in Livingston. If in Livingston you need to go here. I can't be more satisfied with the food and staff here. My meal was brought to me quickly too. If you get here early, you get your food quickly. As it gets later, they get very busy. I asked for wheat bread and they put a bagel with butter (charged me extra for it .75cent). The food took 45 minutes to come and I never got any water. Firstly, the service here is great. The people are friendly and accommodating. And considering how busy it was, my order was ready quickly. Secondly, the lox was super fresh and tasty, practically melting in my mouth. Now, that said, I don't see myself going back I ordered scallion cream cheese and lox on an everything bagel with red onions and tomatoes, and I paid $18. Is it me, or is this a bit excessive? Just to be sure I wasn't out of touch with the going rate of lox and bagels (especially since i'm not a bagel person and wouldn't really know) I went to another bagel place and ordered the same thing. It cost less than $11. The lox at this place was fresh too. And just to be sure I was being fair, I called another bagel place and was given the same $11 price. Look, Seymour's is a very nice place.
