What a fun find! I was looking for a din r and found this gem across the street from the Morris Plains train station. The employees were warm and friendly and they have a very extensive menu, especially for a small venue. The breakfast menu is huge and the serve breakfast all day. I will be back, if only to try the cheesecake which looks amazing and can be served with fresh fruit or compote.

Upon arrival greeted by hostess and seated right away. I ordered an orange juice which was pretty good. For breakfast me and the wife shared french toast and pancakes. I found the french toast crispy on the outside but soggy and under cooked inside. The top pancake is covered in bacon abut unfortunately as a side affect it makes the pancake taste like bacon. The pancakes below the top one were fine as were the eggs. Inside and our table were clean.

Whether I'm working or attending a function, the Manor has always met my expectations. With experience at more than a hundred events, I can confidently say that you can't go wrong with Birchwood Manor. I'm heading there today!

We fell in love with Birchwood Manor the first time we visited 2 years ago as the first person we…read moremet with was Michael Marino, who was so warm and welcoming from the beginning. Since then, we've worked with Michael on planning our wedding and he was so great to work with. He was easy to communicate with, super energetic and full of positive energy throughout the planning, and very informative. We wanted our dogs in the ceremony a lower guest minimum for fear that less people at the time would attend due to covid and Michael quickly accommodated our requests, no questions asked! Our wedding was 10/14/23 and Farrell was our maitre'd. After getting home, my matron of honor, brother in law and mom had nothing but AMAZING things to say about Farrell. According to my mom, Farrell saw my grandpa had trouble with his boutonniere and she, without us asking, started helping him and all the other groomsmen clip them on. She worked with my husband on getting a little last-minute seating mishap resolved (we had some unplanned guests who had initially rsvp'd no and showed up). She was so good with children as our flower girl and flower boy/ring bearer were 4 and 7 and she interacted with them and helped show them what to do at the ceremony. Our day of coordinator unfortunately had an emergency and was not there part of the wedding but Farrell really took over and checked in on us constantly and took charge of the day. My matron of honor said Farrell was so nice and reliable and amazing at her job. Going back to the wedding, our guests couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous the venue was, down to the chandeliers in the ballroom. Our wedding was unfortunately outdoors but Birchwood was so accommodating with allowing us to use the Grand Ballroom for the ceremony as the reception was already set up elsewhere. We upgraded the cocktail hour to deluxe and with both my husband and I being from Chinese families with high expectations in regards to seafood, the lobster tails were gone instantly as our guests loved them so much. People raved about how good the cocktail hour was, including the carving station and shrimp scampi station. The ice sculpture was a beautiful and elegant touch. All in all, we and our guests had nothing but an amazing time at Birchwood. We have nothing but positive experiences through our 2 years of wedding planning. Thank you Michael and Farrell and Birchwood Manor for helping us plan our wedding and make our wedding day visions really come to life!

Our server was absolutely amazing. I wish I remembered her name because she deserves a shoutout! Despite how hectic the restaurant was, she stayed friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. Honestly, I felt bad because she seemed to be covering so many tables, but she never let it affect the quality of her service. The brunch was delicious and definitely lived up to expectations. My favorite was the chia seed bowl, and that's reason enough for me to come back. Looking forward to trying more of the menu next time!

I ordered the Purple Haze drink and it was as delicious as it was beautiful. The Chipotle Steak & Queso Hash was a bit salty for my taste but still good. Very hearty and a decent portion size, I had to box up what I couldn't finish to go. I dined solo and didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable. I sat and read a book for an additional 20 minutes after I was finished. It wasn't very busy and there were plenty of open tables. I might not have stayed as long if it looked like people were waiting but again the server did not rush me or imply I was unwelcome. Also, she noticed I looked a little cold so she told me she asked the manager to turn down the AC. So sweet! Would definitely come here again.

They had an indoor dining room and an outdoor patio. We opted for the indoor dining room due to the heat wave. For breakfast, I ordered a chocolate chip crumb muffin and a pecan bar. I've never heard of a Chocolate Chip Crumb Muffin before, but it was delicious! The pecan bar was good as well. Unfortunately, I didn't order a drink because I don't like coffee and the only non-coffee drink they had was Hot Chocolate and unsweetened iced tea. Too hot for hot chocolate and I don't like unsweetened iced tea. The ladies at the counter were very nice though and gave me some tap water! Overall a great experience. The chocolate was decadent and high quality. I thought the cake was pricy at $95 but I figure quality ingredients cost more and this was a special occasion. Thank you for the delicious cake.

They were of the potato variety. Since they were made to order, they came out piping hot. My thoughts on each are below. The temperature really made a difference as I tried a few bites after they cooled down and it was not the same. All of the donuts were appropriate in size and somehow appeared very light. I wonder if that was attributed to the potato variety. I just could not believe how much the hot temperature made a difference in all four. Original Cinnamon Sugar - This was very good with plenty of sugar present. Raspberry Jam - There was a ton of raspberry jam here and it was great. Nutella - There was an excessive amount of Nutella here and it worked out well with the hot donut texture. It was unreal. Cannoli - This was great too. I really liked the melted chocolate chips in the cannoli cream. Will I go back? Oh, easily.

Verrilli is a charming, hole in the wall bakery with a cozy interior. Although seating is limited inside, they will have a lot of outdoor seating when summer rolls around. There is a small parking lot out front, but may need to street park when it gets busy. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. Getting to the highlight: the potato donuts!! They also have other small desserts like cannoli, cookies, biscotti, and pizza, burgers, fries - all freshly homemade. Anyway, ordered the cinnamon sugar and butter glaze donut, (fresh and best enjoyed hot) and it was so light, fluffy, and not overly sweet!Looking to try their other donuts on the menu! Note: Owner mentioned this is BYOB! And can mix and match donut toppings!
