Happy hour drinks and cauliflower wings (honey garlic)
    Kay F.

My friend and I came here for happy hour as we wanted some drinks after work. I got a single shot vodka and she got a single shot gin and they weren't bad. We also got some honey garlic cauliflower wings to try. I did like the twist on the classic wings and would want to try some of their other flavours. Overall a great place to get together with a friend for the summer to catch up!

Hey. If you want a place with a cool vibe and chill place with great food, this is it. The food here is amazing. Wings. Ribs. Cauliflower wings. Lettuce wraps. All AMAZING. Beer selection is great. But. The best thing about this place is the staff. They work hard. The clientele are all like minded chill people.

This place is A-OK to me. It's nothing special. It has a nice ambiance but is very standard and nothing stood out in particular. The staff is very friendly and helpful! We went on a halloween weekend and it wasn't too busy. The staff was all in costumes which was fun to see. I tried the winter butternut squash soup and it was extremely thicc. I thought the taste was good but it was more of a slush to me. It was also lukewarm so that made it kind of weird. I didn't end up finishing it. I did have the garlic toast that it came with which was good. I will say though that the food camp out really quickly. The bill was also pretty cheap. I think it came to like $68 and we had mussels and a bottle of wine as well, so not bad.

This place is really reasonable for food and drink and has a really nice ambience. There is a separate back room bar at the very end that is more quiet if you want to be away from the noise and people (it does get super busy here during dinner and weekends though.) Thy have an extensive drink list and daily specials. Sunday they have a nice roast special with all the fixings. I would like to just give a special shout out to Nadine whom gives me excellent service when I frequent this establishment. Thank you for your friendly service and knowledgeable suggestions of wine pairings with dinner. Sunday they have a live jazz band and it makes this place a little bit more classy. I would also add that the back room is available for functions so if you have a birthday, anniversary or business function the back room would be good for that.

One of my favourite cocktail spots on the drive - it has a great dark bar vibe, which is perfect for an evening cocktail with friends or a date. I give it four stars, as I do find the wait can be a little long, as my last time there, it took way to long between drinks each time, we even had the manger come up twice asking if we needed more drinks, as he noticed we were all out for some time. Although, it was a busy Saturday night, and thought maybe they were understaffed. If you like a good cocktail, I suggest some of the signatures. The Vanilla Bean Old Fashioned is a must try, if you are an old fashioned drinker! I also really enjoyed the Charlie Sour, which adding the amaretto was a delightful twist! They also offer a great happy hour special, they call the 'party hour' with some great eats and my favourites, the sweet teas, with the Kentucky Blue, being absolutely delicious!

Really large portion for the price, we got steak and fries the steak was okay but the fries were a little soggy due to the fact the steak was sitting on top The photo attached was our dish the steak was really big and they give you a lot of fries, it will fill you up for sure They also had a really good deal for wings that day but we didn't get any One of the guys with us ordered the chicken tenders and he loved it so will have to try that next time!

3.4 Stars ** I'm not a drinker, so i rarely go to pub/bar establishments ** There is meter parking all along Commercial Drive, but free parking is very limited as majority of the residential area is permit only parking. First impressions, it looked like a typical pub/bar, lighting was dim, they had the Canuck game on all their tv's and volume on full blast. We went here for a friends Bday party and had a reservation for 15 people at 730pm. They had a nice big area set up for us. We ordered : Lemon Pepper Wings - very good wings, crispy, not greasy, and seasoned really well. Charlatan Fries - big plate of garlic lime fries covered with fresh grated parmesan cheese. Good flavor but found that majority of the fries were cut too small or end parts of a potato. The Featured Sausage - flavor of the sausage was good, but a little over cooked so it was a bit dry. The grilled veggies and picked onions that came with it were very good. Bacon Cheese Burger - good sized juicy burger, wasn't the best burger I've had, but it was good. Side salad was ok, lettuce was a little wilted. The service was really good. The server took our orders and double checked who's with who to separate the bill at the end of the night. Our waters were always refilled and plates were cleared after we finished our dish. The prices were on the higher side, but i liked that they didn't put automatic gratuity on the bill. Overall Experience: Service - 8.5/10 Cleanliness - 8.5/10 Food - 7/10 Value - 4/10 Parking - 4.5/10

Our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. One of the coolest things about Steamworks is the history behind the brewery. The brewery was originally inspired by Gastown's famous steam clock and historically used steam power in its brewing operations. Even today, steam remains part of the brewing process, helping heat the brewing kettles and connecting the brewery to the neighborhood's industrial heritage. Of course, the beer is the star of the show. Fresh, flavorful, and brewed on-site, it's hard to beat enjoying a pint in the heart of Gastown. If it's your first visit, I highly recommend getting the 10-beer flight. It's a fun way to sample a wide range of their brews and find a few favorites without committing to a full pint. Whether you're a beer enthusiast or just looking for a great meal with excellent service, Steamworks is well worth a visit.

Our server suggested that, because it was happy hour, a pitcher would be cheaper and save us money. I specifically asked how many ounces the pitcher was and was told 32 oz, which sounded reasonable since we planned to get 15 oz beers. When the pitcher arrived, it was clearly 64 oz. The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.

Firstly when we arrived nobody greeted us for I would say about 10 minutes even though the place was quite empty when we arrived, and when we finally received a table we were seated at a table that was wobbly, and the menus we received were stained and sticky, which got me immediately on edge about hygiene and made me uncomfortable. For drinks selection - nothing special that you can't get anywhere else, and the place being quite empty the vibe was quite boring too. I just felt uncomfortable being there and there isn't anything special about this pub that you can't get better anywhere else. We finished the one drink that we got and headed elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

This corner spot is neatly tucked away with a few outdoor seating spots, but the magic in itself is inside. The mix of vintage and old glam showcases the hybrid aesthetic. Perfectly described, The Ballyhoo definitely lives up to the over-the-top decor from their food offerings and styling. I managed to find myself arriving within happy hour and was super please I was able to bring my laptop out and get some work done without it causing anyone a fuss. The server I had was super friendly and she had all the tables she was handling in good spirit. After opting for a local draft beer and some bites, I kept over hearing how delicious the mozz sticks were. Now IDK how one levels up mozzarella sticks, but these truly were some of the best I've ever had. The dipping sauce was super spicy but bearable for anyone's heat preference and the breading and cheese inside had such a burst of flavor you wanted to simply inhale them. What had me in awe though was the cheese pull game. No need to fear about them being overdone not cooked enough, these babies were cooked to perfection with the cheese literally oozing out of each bite. I saw a few plates being served around and think this spot is definitely worth exploring.
