Zahariadis founded the Cocktail Chemist Bev Company which was acquired by CoreBev in late 2021. He has since become the COO of CoreBev. In early 2024, CoreBev acquired Waterbury-based Continuum Distilling which originally opened in 2020. Continuum's original founder Brandon Collins, a chemist by trade, remained on as Connecticut Distilling's head distiller. The new enterprise's mission is a commitment to crafting high-quality, innovative, and sustainable spirits that honor Connecticut's rich history and vibrant community. I recently stopped at Connecticut Distilling during their Grand Opening week. Their tasting lounge is cozy, inviting, and comes with a staff of trained mixologists. Most of CDC's products are distilled using beer from locally Connecticut craft breweries. Attendees were treated to samples of some of their products which included a blueberry-flavored rum, a bourbon whiskey, an IPA-based spirit, a roasted malt beer-based whiskey, and a vodka. Everything was very smooth. We were also treated to a delicious spread of deli sandwiches and charcuterie as well as cocktails crafted with CDC spirts. Some of the cocktails offered included a "Welcome Cocktail" (Apple Cinnamon Drops, apple cider, black tea, citrus, bitters blend), a "Smoked Maple Manhattan" (Fort Hill Bourbon, smoked vermouth, Maplewood Farm maple syrup, bitters), and a "Peach Pecan Old Fashioned" (Charred, honey pecan, peach bitters).
