I went on a private brewery tour for a work outing. My co-worker and I planned it. We emailed Mindy…read moreand she responded right away with questions on how to best customize our itinerary. We had some time constraints. She told us we were able to start and end the tour anytime we wanted. Once we answered all her questions she put together an itinerary for our group. The itinerary gave us details on what we would do during the tour. Details such as breweries we would visit, what time we would arrive at each stop, where we would have the facility tour, where we would eat food, pricing ETC. She also attached a sample menu because we wanted the package to include food. The food package included dinner. I thought we were going to have to pay more for dinner, but we didn't. She told me the food package included lunch, dinner or heavy appetizers. Same price. I also had some questions and requests for her. She answered all my questions, adjusted the itinerary a bit and met all of our needs. She recommended the breweries we went to, however she told me we were able to pick. But I needed recommendations. Day of the tour we were picked up at the office. We had a tour guide (Jon) and a driver. I don't remember the driver's name but he was great. Our tour guide was amazing. He was friendly, super knowledgeable, very, very hospitable. He made sure everyone had everything they needed every step of the tour. The food came out super quick, everyone's orders were correct! (We had a rather large group of 40.) The food was delicious. The beer was tastings. It was really fun trying all the different styles. Jon would bring us out the beer and describe it to us. He also gave us tasting tips, tasting 101. I learned a lot. AND drank a lot. Those little tasters really add up. I wasn't always able to finish them. The facility tour was given to us by Jon. It was about 15/20 minutes. He really explained the process in a way we could understand. (My group didn't know much about making beer.) Jon is also a pretty funny guy so the tour was entertaining. The three breweries we went to were Drakes Barrel House, Ale Industries and Faction. All three stops were very different. Drakes whole space was filled with barrels aging beer. Kinda looked like a wine tasting room. I loved the ambience. Ale Industries had a cool small business hipster vibe. And Faction had a huge out door space with a view of the city! It had corn hole, and giant Jenga. It was such a fun trip. Everyone loved it. We will definitely use Bay Area Brewery Tours again.

We loved the tour, the breweries and the driver/tour guide Mindy. Very friendly and knowledgable about the places she takes you on the tour. But best of all my husband wanted me to mention there is NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES like you would experience on a wine tour. The tastings at each stop served by friendly people and questions were answered on the spot. The lunch we had was really good food and there was a good selection to choose from on the menu you are presented when you board the tour bus. All in all, it was fabulous, relaxing, met a lot of great people on the public tour with us and a good way to enjoy beer tasting without the driving. GREAT JOB MINDY!

My tour guide was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and full of fun facts, local tips, and recommendations that made the experience even better. I also loved that the group was small (about 8 people in the van), which made it easy to ask questions and actually see everything without feeling crowded. The three photo stops are short, but they're at excellent viewpoints and perfect for getting some Instagram-worthy pictures. As a solo traveler, I honestly can't recommend this tour enough. You get an incredible amount of value for the price, and it's a great way to get your bearings before exploring the city on your own. I'd recommend keeping notes of the places and recommendations your guide mentions so you can revisit them later. One thing that really stood out was the customer service. My original booking didn't meet the minimum group size, so I was moved to a different tour. Unfortunately, that caused me to arrive late, but the guide was incredibly gracious and made me feel welcome without any hassle. Whether you're traveling solo, with a partner, or as a family, I'd absolutely recommend this tour. It's one of the best ways to kick off a trip to San Francisco.

Last year, we signed up for our first combo tour: Alcatraz + Haight walking tour. Due to the 2018 fires, our SF trip was severely affected, including the cancellation of the Alcatraz portion. The walking tour was still made available at our own risk given the horrible air quality, but SF on Tap staff were very flexible, refunded our Alcatraz portion, and still conducted a great walking tour led by Lina. The history we learned, the beer knowledge, and the breweries we visited was fantastic. By the end of the tour, our little group was happy, tipsy, and chatty. It was a great first experience! So this year, we went back to San Francisco and did the Alcatraz + Fisherman's Wharf walking tour. Weather was fantastic this time, and the process for getting our tickets plus the actual day of activites was seamless. Prepare for a long day of walking if you do the combo tour. Dress comfortably and wear very comfy shoes. We did the Alcatraz audio tour, which helps you cover the main portions of the site, but there is definitely more to explore, so don't anticipate being able to do it all when you have to be back on shore with time to spare for lunch plus arriving for the 2pm beer tour. So....plan your morning accordingly. After Alcatraz, we had lunch at Boudin at Pier 39 then took a 5min Lyft ride to Ghirardelli Square for the start of our Fisherman's Wharf beer tour. Our guide was Dylan. Dylan did a great job and took us on quite an adventure through Fisherman's Wharf and Little Italy area. Although the beers on this particular tour were not my favorite (except for the barley wine and sour at the end!), I appreciated deepening my knowledge of the neighborhood and of course....brewing! I also love the intimate nature of the tour, like when we get to the breweries / pubs, and there is already dedicated space for us to sit, enjoy, learn, and drink! Dylan did his best to personalize our beer options to our tastes, so that was much appreciated. At the end of the tour, Dylan provided some fantastic dinner recommendations, since the tours end by 6pm. Trust me, you will be hungry! Both Lina and Dylan provided us with memorable craft beer experiences. My boyfriend and I look forward to going 3 for 3 and doing the SoMA walking tour next year! We are true SF on Tap fans!! You won't regret booking with SF on Tap, especially if you want a personalized craft beer experience and want to learn about the city's rich history and the details of brewing.
