May 22, 2026. Friday. Post-dinner drinks. We came visited here on the way to the Ghirardelli chocolate shop. This creative brewmaster, Justin Boehle, has lots of unique, tasty beers on the menu. I'm a lover of sour beers and this spot had two on tap. I tasted the Revenge of the Nerds sour, 7.5% ABV, with mixed kettle fermentation with Nerds candy. It was sour, sweet and warranted a 13 ounce pour for $11. They put crushed Nerds candy on the rim for an extra sour kick. This thing had a fruity kick and lots of punch. I followed the sour up with a 13 ounce pour of the Flanders-style ale for $18. This dark brown, 8% ABV ale, was aged in French Burgundy barrels. It had a very rich whisky burn and lots of full mouthfeel. A lovely ale for sipping. Stop by the brewing company for creative and amazing beers from Justin Boehle. read more

The beer lineup is solid across the board, the kind where everyone at the table finds something they are into without overthinking it. Crisp lagers, a few bolder options, all brewed in-house and actually worth coming back for. The food holds its own too. Elevated but still approachable, perfect for sharing or just settling in with something satisfying while you sip. What keeps us going back is how versatile it is. It can be a quick stop or it can turn into a whole afternoon without trying. It feels just as right bringing out-of-town friends as it does showing up on a whim. I stopped in on 6/12/2026 for one quick beer as I wasn't feeling the best. I couldn't visit San Francisco without trying some local beer. I had a 10 oz their Hazy IPA which was delicious. As part of my vacations, I always try to visit local breweries and I stumbled upon this brewery. Once inside, the ambiance was welcoming. People in there were having a great time and enjoying their spirits while also watching the TV displays. This brewery is hidden but it is right next to ghirardelli chocolate experience building. They also offer outdoor seating with a nice patio and public restrooms around the corner. As I browsed their beer menu, I noticed they had the "Pumpkin Spice Lager" seasonal and so I ordered it! Oh man, subtle flavors of pumpkin not overwhelming and the rim was made out of brown sugar and cinnamon; very fall vibes!! I loved it so much that I was sad to know it is only a seasonal beer. Surprisingly, one of the best taste in calamari I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, super soft where you don't even have to chew, and the breading was amazing. Pair that with one of the beers they brew in house and you've got yourself a perfect night. The atmosphere is great with firepits and heat lamps keeping you warm, i have absolutely no complaints (and i usually do). Perfect amount of the little octopus dudes to rings ratio, where you don't feel jipped, but also not overwhelmed by the feeling of eating a lil baby octopus. The vibes here are so nice! Came during sunset time for a round of drinks with friends. I ordered the stout and split the nachos and garlic fries with friends. We were sat outside on benches where there was string lights and by nighttime, it was lit so cutely. My friends and I sat here for about 2 hours and chatted while drinking. I only had one drink but everyone seemed to have been enjoying themselves. Drinks were $14-$15 which was fair given the location. Service is super kind and attentive. We asked our waiter for different recommendations and he did not disappoint! I enjoyed my drink and the food choices he recommended. The menu is a bit limited on food items so this may not be the best place for dinner but more so a place to catch up with friends and hangout. Stopped by here for an event and if not for that, I wouldn't be caught dead at a brewery because I don't like to drink beer-the taste of it just isn't for me. However, the menu has something for everyone and I actually had a hard time deciding between the Strawberry Dreams/Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Golden/Willy Wonka Wildberry Blast Sour and eventually landed on the first drink without the alcohol aspect. My drink had a nice balance of tart and fruity sweetness, surprisingly no remnants of fake sweetness, so I appreciate that I wasn't entirely drinking juice. I'd recommend San Francisco Brewing for its close proximity to In N Out, Aquatic Park, and Ghirardelli! Truly an underrated yet must stop if you're in the area and don't have the privilege of going out to the Vineyards! read more

After picking up some chocolate next door, i wondered the area a bit more and came across the San Francisco Brewing company, and decided to grab a beer. I walked in and was immediately welcomed by the bar tender. I took a look at the menu, and asked him what their best IPA was. He asked if I liked hazy, and suggested I try the Fog City Hazy IPA. I took his suggestion, and was very happy with the choice. It had a great taste, not overly hoppy, but very flavorful. The brewery is kind of tucked back in the corner of the shopping area, and sunken down, but a nice spot, very relaxing. They've got a big patio, and had several fire pits burning, because of the cooler December weather. Overall, a very welcoming space. In addition to their good variety of beer, which can be bought in pints, by the flight, as well as a good variety canned to go, they also offer food. I didn't have time to eat on this visit, but checked out the menu, and they had a good offering of sandwiches, tacos, pizzas, and traditional bar food like wings, nachos, baked pretzels and more. What I saw others eating, definitely looked good, and made my mouth water. I've got this spot on my list for a future visit next time in San Francisco, and based on the Fog City Hazy IPA, I'd recommend others check it out as well. read more

We were walking around Ghirardelli square and seen this brewery and decided to stop in and check it out as we love visiting different brewery's We sat at the bar and our server was so sweet and helpful with recommendations. We both opted for beer flights which I highly recommend as to give you several options to try as they make all beer on site. My personal favorite was the Pickle. Which has a nice little kick to it and is a completely different unexpected beer. Hubbys favorite was the flounders which looks incredibly dark but it has a little sour yet a wine taste at the end it's incredibly hard to describe but it was amazing. The pizza oven wasn't hot enough yet so we ended up with a pretzel with beer cheese and it was a little crispy on the outside and super soft inside the beer cheese has an amazing taste and isn't grainy like some I've had They have an extensive list of hard liquors as well so I recommend checking that list out as well. A brewery with a full service bar is a huge plus for us They have TVs, pool tables and a shuffle board along with outside seating if you prefer that. Would definitely come back here. read more

We came around 1:30 on a Thursday. Monday-Thursday they give you a parking ticket for the garage that charges you 1/2 for the parking so if you plan on eating here you can park at the garage and I think it would cost you $9 per hour but we paid $12 for 2 hrs at a meter if you can find one. The beers were good, but spendy. Might be the location but my 16oz nitro beer was $14. Then we ordered a flight, which the nitro wasn't included/allowed. We got the three sours and they charge you individually for the 4oz pours, 5-6$ each. It was a very expensive lunch! Over $100 for Baja tacos, smash burger, pretzel and the beers. The chips were freshly made with the tacos, nice Baja sauce on them. Burger was also good. Pretzel could have used more evenly coated salt. Beer cheese was pretty good. We had to order at the bar and checkout there as well. read more

They've got a kitchen with pretty standard food - although the Chinese chicken pizza is really fun and good! Lots and lots of seating inside and outside (with heaters!) and they also have a pool table and shuffle board. For drinks, they have a really good selection of beer (you can get a flight!) and wines and a completely full bar. The service is walk up bar and you can order food too. It also seems like they may do reservations for large parties. Staff also comes around pretty frequently to clean up. Right in the heart of Ghirardelli square we stopped for a quick drink. I got their Willy Wonka Sour Beer which was very fruity and very enjoyable. It was rimmed with candy pieces and topped with a sugared gummy candy. We came a second time as well because I wanted that beer again. We went here for a gathering the day after a wedding . It was a little cold, so we decided to gather inside the building where we were able to secure a bunch of tables along the wall-window. Service was fast and friendly, and the waiters were able to accommodate different tabs when needed. We ordered the burger, wings, tater tots, Spinach, dip, and various beverages. The food came out fresh and hot. We had a minor order mistake which was cheerfully and easily corrected. The waiter was wonderful and super attentive. I cannot recommend this place any higher for a group gathering. Of course parking is tough, but there is a lot about a block away and Lyft, Uber and Waymo are good Options. Sadly, I wasn't able to take pictures with all the activity, but everything was delicious. Prices are a little high, but again, this is San Francisco and everything was well prepared. read more

We stopped into San Francisco Brewing after visiting the Cartoon Museum. My nephew and his friend were visiting from out of town. We had a full day of tourist activities. The truth is I rarely come to Ghirardelli Square unless it is with folks from out of town; the parking is difficult, and I've seen what there is here. If you have guests (or are yourself a visitor), however, I recommend it with enthusiasm. This place is what you'd expect. That is a compliment. It is a sports bar that brews its own offerings. Each of the three of us had a flight. I enjoyed every sip. I was especially impressed that they had three sours on tap, every one of them distinctive and worthwhile, though sours are an acquired taste. They had a seasonal pumpkin my nephew got, and I had a tiny bit, and that flavor is not for me -- I would drink it if it were offered, but it is not what I'd order. I also bought a bottle of the Golden Gate Gose to bring home. They claim some of the water is directly from the Bay, under the bridge. I like sours, goses, everything with that strong profile. It was $39. That likely is the most expensive bottle of beer I have ever purchased (it was 750ml). I was not disappointed, and if this style is for you then this is a great example of it. A young couple from Cleveland, just engaged, was seated catty corner from us. We chatted. She is from the Bay Area. She was showing her fiancee around, introducing the cousins. It is always good to chat with strangers like that. This setting is conducive to it. If I had another set of folks to show around, who drank beer -- sadly, so many no longer imbibe -- then I'd put this venue at the top of the list. read more
