My boyfriend and I have gone on 2 of the 3 tours offered by SF on Tap. Safe to say, we're big fans! This review is for Haight and Fisherman's Wharf tours. Last year, we signed up for our first combo tour: Alcatraz + Haight walking tour. Due to the 2018 fires, our SF trip was severely affected, including the cancellation of the Alcatraz portion. The walking tour was still made available at our own risk given the horrible air quality, but SF on Tap staff were very flexible, refunded our Alcatraz portion, and still conducted a great walking tour led by Lina. The history we learned, the beer knowledge, and the breweries we visited was fantastic. By the end of the tour, our little group was happy, tipsy, and chatty. It was a great first experience! So this year, we went back to San Francisco and did the Alcatraz + Fisherman's Wharf walking tour. Weather was fantastic this time, and the process for getting our tickets plus the actual day of activites was seamless. Prepare for a long day of walking if you do the combo tour. Dress comfortably and wear very comfy shoes. We did the Alcatraz audio tour, which helps you cover the main portions of the site, but there is definitely more to explore, so don't anticipate being able to do it all when you have to be back on shore with time to spare for lunch plus arriving for the 2pm beer tour. So....plan your morning accordingly. After Alcatraz, we had lunch at Boudin at Pier 39 then took a 5min Lyft ride to Ghirardelli Square for the start of our Fisherman's Wharf beer tour. Our guide was Dylan. Dylan did a great job and took us on quite an adventure through Fisherman's Wharf and Little Italy area. Although the beers on this particular tour were not my favorite (except for the barley wine and sour at the end!), I appreciated deepening my knowledge of the neighborhood and of course....brewing! I also love the intimate nature of the tour, like when we get to the breweries / pubs, and there is already dedicated space for us to sit, enjoy, learn, and drink! Dylan did his best to personalize our beer options to our tastes, so that was much appreciated. At the end of the tour, Dylan provided some fantastic dinner recommendations, since the tours end by 6pm. Trust me, you will be hungry! Both Lina and Dylan provided us with memorable craft beer experiences. My boyfriend and I look forward to going 3 for 3 and doing the SoMA walking tour next year! We are true SF on Tap fans!! We did this for my birthday, and it was everything I was hoping it would be. Enqrique our guide was a total beer geek, and it was awesome to learn about the different technique for making the different brews. I certainly tried more new beer types that day than I have in my entire life! We had an awesome group of people to share the day with, from all over the country (and some overseas). The pacing worked really well; just enough walking between pubs to make room for more beer! Enrique had great stories about the history, culture, and landmarks we walked past. All the pubs we visited were clean, friendly, and full of atmosphere. My one piece of advice is to eat a good lunch beforehand, and bring really good walking shoes. You will burn a lot of energy, though thankfully we avoided most of the infamous hills. read more

We had an amazing time! Our little sister bought us these passes as a Christmas gift last year lol, we were reluctant to use them I guess. But, were we wrong for waiting! We should have gone during a better season because the rain got us but despite the weather it was a wonderful day! My brother and I truly enjoyed the tour! Not only are we beer drinkers, but we are locals who love the Haight and it's history. It was great to hear from such a knowledgeable tour guide, Chris was great! Great tour with an awesome guide! I am a Bay Area native and booked this tour to celebrate a friends birthday - it was such a great idea and not to mention a blast! We did the Haight tour with Emily and she was fantastic. She gave us great information on all the beers we tasted and also gave us some great history on the Haight/Ashbury area as we trekked to each brewery. The walk to each brewery was pretty cool, I enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods and seeing places I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. Also, I WAS a Belgium beer kinda girl, but now thanks to SF On Tap, I have discovered other types of beers that I really enjoyed and would definitely order. Had a great time on this tour. I did the CELEBRATE THE HAIGHT tour which is in the Haight and Ashbury neighborhood. Our tour guide Katherine was super cool and she not only loves beer as much as I do, but also gave the group a lot of history about the area. You will do a little bit of uphill walking, but it includes some great views of the city, and best of all, great beer along the way at three different breweries. Adam's a nice guy, and this tour is a cool concept. You get a lot of beer, and check out bars you may not have otherwise seen. That being said, I would have liked to see this tour more organized. It felt like it was put together at the last second. Our guide was one of the last people to show up, and he tended to ramble. A lot of people lost interest and started having their own conversations. It felt like we had paid a lot to simply sit in a bar and chat amongst ourselves. The best beer tour/walk I've been on. It isn't just about checking out new places. My bf and I did the SoMa tour. We got to try 12 different beers at 3 different venues over 3.5 hours. It was like a beer walk and beer tasting class in one. And because we had to walk between venues, it encouraged people to get to know each other. Adam was smart enough to have appetizers for us too at the first and last venues so that we didn't drink on an empty stomach. He even had hops and grains for us to look at and smell and learn about, super educational. There didn't seem to be one question that Adam couldn't answer, he really knows his stuff and does his homework. He was super prepared and knowledgeable, but also fun and casual. I did the Haight tour with my roommate, and we were both left a bit underwhelmed. Adam is a nice guy, had interesting information about SF and clearly is very passionate about beer. He took us to Barrel Head Brewery first, and we stayed there for about an hour and half. He then rushed us to the next bar, because he had talked too long at the first bar, which didn't make us feel that great. It's the tour guides job to make sure we run on time and not make the guests feel bad for that. We went to Magnolia and Black Sands after that. At Black Sands, when the tour was over we decided to stay and order food. Adam joined us, but didn't order anything, and ate some of our food, which made us both a bit uncomfortable. I think if you are a local and live here, I would have preferred organizing a pub crawl with friends. I think the time management could have been better so that after you had tastings maybe at one or two of the places you got to order your favorite beer and drink it there. I'm giving this a three out of five stars because you could have easily done this tour on your own and had the same beer drinking experience, yes his knowledge of beer was special and interesting but beyond that there was no reason for a tour deal if you are a local. read more

There were no questions Adam (owner and guide) couldn't answer and with the variety of beer there was something for everyone.
